Those of you who are selling the Devas at these ridiculously low prices, I want to thank you warmly for enabling me to become a rich bastard.
A warm thank you! There is still around 10 000 times growth potential.  Wink

I've been buying like crazy and keep on buying as long as these firesales continue.

I think we should try to get DVC on BTC38.com, a chinese altcoin exchange.  I hear there is a fee they require for adding a new coin to their exchange, either we could all chip in to pay it or use bounty funds.  Also we need someone to contact them in Chinese explaining the merits of DVC and finding out how much the fee is.

If the fee is small under 5 bitcoins, we'll definitely go for it, over that we'll see. Someone, please find out what the fee is. Whoever does will get four shares.

Edit: Actually, before I promise that we'll pay a high fee, I'd like to see the volume of their altcoins compared to other exchanges like btc-e.

As a native Chinese speaker, I've contacted admin and support of both btc38.com and bter.com (another big altcoin exchange in China) via QQ, they're still not responding yet. I'll post here with any progress.

When devcoin was at about 20 sats, there was no price markup.  Due to the volatile market, I've had to increase the price.  I think you may have a problem with your proxy if you are having trouble accessing the site.

@Unthinkingbit - on the devtome.csv file, it says I get a low multiplier for categorization. What does that mean?

I had asked the same thing. Apparently we're supposed to be adding categories to the bottom of articles (like [[Category:CATNAME]]).

All of my articles are categorized, though.

Here's the URL to the bitcoin ATM: https://bitcoinatm.com/

Has anyone gotten the high server CPU usage error when visiting http://dvcticker.bugs3.com/?  Sorry about that, a cron job is run every 15 minutes to collect data for the chart required for the bounty.  I plan to upgrade to a paying host when traffic gets higher, so then the site will be more reliable!

This was really helpful, thank you. I copied the wallets on usb. I scanned my pc, it turned out i have three trojans and 90 other items to remove from my computer. A lot of them are in AppData\Local\Temp.......and there are a bunch of others
I'm not sure which is which, and whether or not some of them will delete my wallets when the spyware program removes them. Can that happen? And will i still be able to install the same wallets on another PC from the USB?
I haven't noticed fb deleting my urls before, someone must have reported something.
If you've already copied the wallet.dat files then you have backups. Honestly I don't want to give specific advice because I'm not there so don't fully understand your issues. But if you've now found malware then once clear, and before you reintroduce anything onto that machine or any other, you need to be similarly sure that the media you used to transfer data (usb and anything else) is also scanned and clear.

I think DevCoina is taking over the markets in the upcoming months.
It will eventually rally until 0,001 BTC and after this milestone go up but not that fast anymore.
Of course the road to the moon is rocky due to the selling of the weak hands.
Personally I am just buying mood before it reaches 0,001 per BTC.

I know people who repent bitterly selling Litecoins too early this year - it was just a matter of months. Now guys, let us not make the same mistake as these guys did with the Litecoin and keep buying.
I am sure you will be happy. When consider selling, always think how much more you could get out of your Devs when the price hits 0,001, 0,002, 0,003, ..., 0,01 per BTC. Then you have the right mentality - just let us keep buying while it is cheap and let us become rich together.

Since devcoin is centered around development do you think their will ever be a bounty for the creation of a devcoin atm? I really want to see an altcoin atm as I think it would do something great for bitcoin in the long run

An ATM that handles multiple cryptocurrencies would be awesome, especially if they got distributed to major cities. I heard of a BTC ATM going up in Berlin, but I don't know if there's plans for some in the US.

Multiple currencies Wow I did not even think of that That would be a game changer

Yeah, there's something going on (but the issue I have is reaching the site *without* a proxy). Thanks for the explanation.

I read the source and noticed that the min tx fee is 500 million? This is 10k now in bitcoin and is $10 @ $1000 btc usd.. so wth is 500 million tx fee for devcoin?? How does that work? Originally bitcoin had 50k satoishi tx fees but reduced to 10k in 0.8.5... but the dvc tx fee doesnt make sense thats more than the daily generation... where is it being scaled in the code? Nothing else I can tell is changed other than the macro related to tx fees... see what unthinkingbit wrote http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin where he talks about the changes that were made.. can someone tell me how this 500000000 tx fee makes sense?
You're misunderstanding it as it's in satoshis and your sums are wrong. Devcoin fee is 1 dvc per transaction to help stop spam which if btc=$1000 and dvc/btc at 67 sats = $0.00067 (not a lot). I'd assume if prices rose to giddy heights that would just be changed as btc was. Re. the devtome page.

BTC: static const int64 MIN_RELAY_TX_FEE = 10000; 10k means  0.00010000 btc, so btc @ $1000 = 1000 * 0.0001 = $0.1
DVC: static const int64 MIN_TX_FEE = 500000000; static const int64 MIN_RELAY_TX_FEE = MIN_TX_FEE; 500m means 5.00000000 dvc, so with dvc @ $0.00067 = 0.00067 * 5 = $0.00335 (also not a lot)

But if you then scroll further down the page to 'spam proofing' there's info on further changes. Also for bitcoin ‘static const int64 MIN_RELAY_TX_FEE = 10000’ means fees below that are considered zero fee. But as far as I know that doesn’t mean you can’t send btc with lower or zero fees set in your client, just that you might be waiting a long time to get it processed.

Thanks I was thinking of satoshis in terms of btc so I got it when I read again but the min tx fee variable should be declared as 5*coin to be more clear.

Thanks for the clarification makes sense with what I thought.

Notabot: i had a similar problem, only that my messages appeared as spam when i mention devtome.

Another problem, with my PC. Since i downloaded the bitcoin wallet, my computer started acting crazy. There's a black window when i start it (it says something about the C:, something, something- Result 0) and it says i have some kind of Host still operating when i want to shut it down. I have no idea what to do, because i'm not really into technology. I haven't copied the devcoin wallet and i can't find it so i can copy it on another computer. I have windows 8. If anyone can help, please do. Thanks
Bitcoin wallet? Best thing is to ask in bitcoin technical subforum. If you mean it's just the bitcoin client doing that then go to start (bottom left) - type appdata - browse to roaming - devcoin. Copy devcoin wallet. Do the same for bitcoin wallet if you have any. If that doesn't work because you can't access appdata, open an explorer window - hit 'alt' - tools - options - view - select show hidden files & unselect hide protected operating system file - ok. Then find the appdata folder... And do the reverse of that after. Then I would start by uninstalling and reinstalling bitcoin, making sure you have the right version, although doesn;t seem like a bitcoin client sort of issue.

If you mean it's your whole pc, then try starting it in safemode. Hit F8 repeatedly as it starts up (before any logo appears) then select safe mode with cursors. You cann then copy/send wallet to a usb or run system restore. Or run an antivirus.

Does fb not allow urls in pm's? I can't see that Devtome's a threat to anything unless someone's been spamming fb with devtome links?

It was not a url, it was simply 'devtome.com' typed in a message. Devtome urls haven't been recognized by fb for about 6 weeks. Devtome was receiving 1400 - 1500 hits per month from facebook, so that's good traffic, but not spam, although anything could be posted and who would know. Maybe some content has been found offensive to fb and flagged.

I believe in free speech, but if one person is using it as a portal for information about say, drug experiences, is that part of how we wish to be perceived? Certainly devtome has literary standards, but where does one draw the line on content?

Perhaps I am wrong.
There are articles like that, but both pro and con like most topics and generally informational and/or in the context of living in areas where a substance isn't illegal. Given the breadth of sites and info that must be picked up by facebook users, and that devtome helps to introduce many more people to cryptos generally not just Devcoin - I'd guess it's more likely to be about spamming and/or spammy 'marketing' of devtome as an outlet to post about certain content rather than the actual content or issues against devtome itself. Maybe there were complaints on facebook about particular user(s) - a bit like here...? We could have a look through later to find any more controversial submissions which could be removed - although as you say free speech and open source is the core, there's a line between not agreeing and censorship - and bring up anything that might be an issue.

If someone has been spamming other people with the Devtome url in PM then FB may have flagged it as spam. Especially if the Devtome url has been sent to many people in unsolicited PM's (FB have really cracked down on spammers sending unsolicited spam PM's to other FB users).

FB is ruthless and will flag anything as spam if it is sent in many, many spam messages to many FB users.

For now we will have to use a url redirection service (there are some which cloak the original url but I can't remember what they're called) - and everyone please do NOT spam random people on FB with the Devtome url!

But do feel free to use a url cloaking / redirection service to responsibly share your content Smiley

This is going to be a real pain when I start setting up the Devtome FB page.

Facebook Warning - I had my account suspended for mentioning devtome.com in a PM. Expect the same if you do it- it is instant at time of sending message.
