agreed! we need boots on the ground! Writers at their desks, thinkers, thinking and artists doing what they do best... all the time.

we are going to make devcoin into a force the art world can reckon with.
isn't devtome just for writing? where can people post other types of art? e.g. visual art, or music, things like that.

Received reply from http://www.igotspots.com/other.html who will sell gold and silver for devcoins.

Quote
Alright, we've added Devcoins on a trial period for the month of October. It is now
live and running. We will leave it for the whole month and then re-assess its
performance at the end of October. Thanks for your interest in iGotSpots.com !

This is great news, thanks notabot! Those one ounce American Eagle silver coins would look good in any collection and acquiring them for DVC makes them so much sweeter. Hard assets being acquired without hammering down the DVC/BTC exchange rate, that's where we need to go. Now, if we can get over the dang bot issue maybe one day I'll be able to have my articles included for a payout run. It will happen, I'm sure. In the meantime, I better get writing Smiley

Pretty interesting article the igotspots homepage also links to, couple of weeks old now, but interesting nonetheless:

No one ever mentioned if this current glitch with DevTome will affect the coming round's payouts? We're nearly at 108000?

So what happens at 109,000 if Devtome is still down?

I have this question too

My macbook has been running a lot slower ever since I downloaded the Devcoin wallet, has this happened to anyone else?  I have other alt coin wallets and its fine, only had the problem since the DVC wallet install.

I think DVC takes up a lot of RAM

For those interested in using Open Cart, an open source store, shopping cart, and check out , it's easy to set up, update products, and incorporate coinpayments.net merchant solution, which accepts devcoins!

I just got the layout and payments working. Once set up, depending upon which features/modules you use, your site could look like this Amazonia Imports (with your own products of course).

Your store looks pretty good!  Does it require MySQL?

has anyone thought of moving devtome to the .bit domain? That way we don't have to worry about paying for the website and can fund many more sites for construction and promotion. We got to get that money to those musicians, painters, photographers and other creative types, besides it would be nice to fund that kind of creative change.

this sounds like a great idea.  Grin

Thanks, I've forked my own copies of all files and will proceed to review the code, Anything needed at this moment?

but I think the devtome problem is our biggest concern, I'll be thinking about that for a while, since that's all I can do at the moment.

are bots really causing this? what happened just before it occured?

and also I had a question... who manages the Devcoin source? I'd like to contribute to the project and would not mind asking some questions.

I think it is here: https://github.com/doublec/devcoin

Hmm I didn't know of that one, or had forgotten it.

I keep my copies at

https://github.com/knotwork/old-devcoind

and

https://github.com/knotwork/old-devcoin-qt

and tarballs at

http://sourceforge.net/projects/galacticmilieu/files/DeVCoin/

The "old" in the github repo names are because DeVCoin is based on old code, and I had planned to start new repos to base it on newer code, but then a bunch of stuff happened making the newer code I was working on already start to get out of date so i never yet did get newer versions uploaded.

Now of course the thing to do is base it on the new I0Coin so it gets recent bitcoin code plus the memory fixes to fix the problem all merged mined coins have of needing more and more RAM over time than non merged coins need.

We're using DokuWiki, I believe.  Is MediaWiki a better alternative?  There's more wikis here too, if we need to move devtome! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wiki_software

MediaWiki is what runs sites like Wikipedia, so take that as you will, :p.
