THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE MANDATORY UPDATE
If you want to get ready for the swap then simply download the update to a different wallet other then your ember wallet and follow these steps below. If you update and do away with the version you are running now, you may not be able to send or receive coins from the exchanges. The update in my opinion is to prepare you for the upcoming FORK/SWAP and you have a choice to also to not swap or fork. Don't let anyone tell you you have to follow them. This is a community coin and the choice is up to each person on their own. With that being said here is what I know ...
There is no need for a coin swap, this work below resolves connections to other peers as well as transfers your wallet information to the
new wallet update, and prepares you for the upcoming fork.
If you swap when the time comes, it's almost certain that the value of the coin will drop. I base this information
on past experience. Just because there is a fork coming doesn't mean jump ship. Simply buy the new ALT COIN, and also keep your Ember wallet.
The choice however is yours to make. But, I am here to tell you we are being forced to swap !!!
Here is how to prepare for the swap and get connections as well as an
updated blockchain in your wallet.
1). Into the console, type dumpwallet dump.txt.
2). Backup all files
3). Install New Wallet
4). Now delete wallet.dat file (make sure you have a backup)
5). Delete peers.dat file ( new wallet auto connects )
5). Place dump.txt file in same wallet folder where QT is.
6). Launch wallet - it creates new wallet.dat
7). On console type importwallet dump.txt
. Backup new wallet.dat
I used Ember V1.1.5.2 to dump my text file
https://github.com/EmberCoin/Ember/releasesLink to Ember V1.1.5.3
https://atheneumchain.io/embercoin_wallet_update_v1_1_5_3/I then ran V1.1.5.6 Imported text file to this version
https://github.com/AtheneumChain/Ember/releases/tag/1.1.5.6I just simplified the instructions for all WINDOWS Ember wallet users !!!
Once your wallet is up and running DO NOT DELETE old QT
wallets. You never know when you may have refer back, Like I did !!!
Exchanges:

However, even with the conf file and peers being removed from folder or left in the folder, there are no connections
when I start this version.
While running V1.1.5.6 I requested to withdraw 704 EMB from my Cryptopia Account to test my new wallet version.
Even though the withdraw history on Cryptopia shows the transaction of 700 coins is completed, I have not received coins in my Ember Wallet Version 1.1.5.6. My wallet also shows that its staking.
I also tested sending 700 Ember from my wallet to my Cryptopia account with V1.1.5.6. Ten confirmatioins where needed. However the coins never reached Cryptopia. This
confirms Cryptopia is using a lesser version wallet. Since I dont care to swap and since I like the partnership with exchanges I restarted V1.0.1 wallet with these ...

I at least get connections with V1.0.1 and start staking, but then they come and go. So I am content using this version and see if people will follow and also use V1.0.1.
If you are successful sending and receiving coins with any other version let me know!
https://bitbucket.org/EmberBlockProject/ember/downloads/Ember-qt_WIN_V1.0.1.0.zipYobit has the ember withdraw in maintenance mode !!!
Deposits on Yobit are also off still. They may be running V1.0.1.0 or older!
I didnt test Nova Exchange. Anyone with knowledge about this exchange and Ember?
It's fair to say that even though the devs are doing a good job with updates to the wallet, they obviously care only about the upcoming fork. This is made clear
by them not being able to persuade the exchanges to follow their updates. With that being said, if they continue, and we are left unable to transfer coins to and from exchanges if we
use each and every wallet they throw at us.
We do have a choice. I dont know about you, but I feel the confusion and constant updates is not fair so I am here to help you understand that you dont have to follow them. If you do follow keep in mind that you stand the chance of not being able to stake, and or send and receive coins. If you want the fork, simply continue running V1.0.1 and stake, but be ready for the swap by simply having the files you need in another folder and NOT IN THE SAME EMBER FOLDER. When they say you can swap simply shut down V1.0.1.0 and start up whatever version will be needed for you to send these new devs all your ember coins. For now, all we need to do is use the same wallet V1.0.1 and live happily with Ember, and not update the wallet ever, if you dont want to swap!
