2 btc bought at bittrex for 49000

This seems extremely low. A coin valued at $6,000,000 should have more like 50+ BTC volume each day.

It does, the 24hr volume is at 104btc right now.

So simply going to http://hzcharts.coin will not show the website?

Not until your DNS provider supports the emercoin domain name space (your current DNS provider is most likely your ISP). AFAIK OpenNIC is the only DNS provider currently supporting Blockchain based domains. If you set your DNS to be resolved by OpenNIC it will work as just hzcharts.coin but otherwise you'd need to use the emergate.net gateway. Personally I hope that when the world comes around to blockchain tech, ISP's will start including blockchain based domains in their DNS. But I don't know what the emc team's plans are towards wider accessibility Smiley

For the few cents it will cost you, there's not much harm in registering the domain you want. And for those who don't have time to play with the emc software then they can look at using a supporting blockchain domain registrar such as https://peername.com

Is there any .coin domain that actually has something that I can see online?

In my sig you can see some working examples. I haven't really explored what else is out there in the emc domain space, but personally I find them very useful. I believe the hope is that eventually there will be more ways to access them, rather than relying purely on the emergate gateway and/or OpenNIC.

Is there any way to actually see any of these domains? Someone bought "social.coin", now how do I see what is there?

They can be reached via the emergate.net gateway, so that would be http://social.coin.emergate.net - but not sure the owner has anything there.

They can also be reached by setting your DNS to one of the openNIC dns servers ( https://www.opennicproject.org ), then you could plug in http://social.coin directly.

You could also grab the ip address from the block explorer (or emc wallet) and visit that address.

Emergate.net is the official gateway set up by emc developers. But for those ever inclined, there are instructions for setting up your own gateway at http://emercoin.com/EMCDNS_and_NVS (look for heading "Public Internet, direct gateway"). For the average user, this isn't necessary though as you can just use an existing gateway or set your computer to use openNIC DNS.

You can see some working emc domains that I use in my sig.

Is it possible to check the PoW network hashrate anywhere?

The most comprehensive block explorer is https://emercoin.mintr.org/stats and on that page you can see current difficulty.

That explorer is great because you can also search Emercoin's NVS. For example, to see all the registered *.emc and *.coin domains: https://emercoin.mintr.org/nvs

Thanks, been there though. I'm looking for the network hashrate in particular. Can it be calculated from the difficulty?

You could add up the hashrate of all the known pools but I suspect real hash rate isn't knowable as there are private miners out there. All I could find is: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/difficulty-to-network-hashrate-calculator-143525 where they discuss this for bitcoin. I am guessing calculations would be the same as with BTC as it is SHA-256, so you might be able to estimate hashrate from difficulty that way, however there is also the POS element to take into account.

One of the best things about this coin is that you can use the NVS services without investing more than a few cents. I've been using some of *.coin domains for my small projects for the last few months, and I've found them superior to other "free" domains available on the net. Especially with the emergate.net service which makes them reachable through regular DNS.

Hey fartbags, only two I could find are the one on emercoin.com and this https://pool.cryptor.net/index.php

Any other mining going on is probably a private pool or solo.

Also a block explorer here https://emercoin.mintr.org

Thanks for this information.

I did a bit more research but can't find a block explorer. Cryptopia says "It's dead Jim"
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/BlockExplorer?coin=EMC
Is there an official block explorer?

Pools are all broken except the main one owned by emercoin themselves.

I've never heard of the exchange:
https://www.livecoin.net/trade/index
so I would have to research them more to find out their reputation.

Is anyone using this coin? It seems to be made by Russians so maybe the Russian community is larger and I have no idea.

Click on Community on the official website, emercoin.com. You'll find block explorers, mining pools and more exchanges.

I haven't researched this coin much but at a valuation of $6,000,000 USD... seems like you're getting ripped off to me.

Litecoin has a marketcap of $151M while Dogecoin $14M, and we are talking about 2 forks with insignificant changes. There are plenty of others that could be added on the 0 innovation list. The only problem with Emercoin is that the team is not investing anything in marketing. This is the only problem, because technology-wise, they just got validated by Microsoft Azure.

So far Microsoft Azure adopted Ripple (200M marketcap), Ethereum (71M marketcap), Factom (5.5M) and the last one, Emercoin (6.5M).

I would be nice to see this image posted in the first page of the ANN as It should provide sufficient information for those that just found out about Emer.

So far i'm impressed by what they are trying to accomplish and there's plenty of good quality documentation in the main website, although it wouldn't be bad to have a less technical presentation of all the technologies. Something that an average techie/investor could understand (real world usage, potential, comparison between other technologies available on the market etc).

For example, i always wanted to know if "EMCDPO - Digital proof of ownership with EmerCoin" could replace "Factom". I see similarities between them, but i need a better explanation. A better understanding of what are advantages of EMCDPO over Factom or vice-versa. Or if there's any competitivity between the technologies at all.

Thanks for this information.

Thanks for your assistance

I have tried to send some EMC to yobit but the wallet is in maintenance at this moment.
Maybe best to wait a little bit.
Problems will soon be solved have they let me know.

Interesting. What exchanges are these coins sold on

As of now it's on Livecoin, Cryptopia, Yobit, and Bittrex.

Check it out on coinmarketcap.
