Sad, this is my last week signature campaign, then after my rank change to newbie, i can't join their project again  Embarrassed this waste my  time, maybe next time i can join any bounty with newbie rank

Or here's a thought, you could just be better. I get it that's a long shot.

You are exactly what is wrong with the forum, and a great sign that the steps Theymos is implementing do have a positive effect.

If you feel your time has been wasted, you now know how anyone who took the time to read your posts felt.

Though it was surprising for real user in my capability of how long I have been on the platform without a accolades of even 1merit but logically it will be touching for we user that have put much to see we get to another but what can I say or do rather than to up my game and quality to the required test of the delegated board of admin, they new development will surely make the platform my organic and meaningful and I believe that I no time I will still bounce back to another level of rank.

This is a very nice step in the right direction. I believe it will make most of us more constructive and purposeful with our posts. So many people are fond of posting meaningless topics or replies just to raise post counts towards signature campaigns.

I strongly believe this will curb spam in the forum.

You may also read my post below if you are still not satisfied with the new ranking rule.

and not to complain but no one answered me what does a copper membership cost?

A Copper Member cost is :

-Copper - 0.00208333 BTC

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

Thank you

So knowing human greed selling that 1 merit for 0.0010 will happen from time to time.

Thermyos sent me a pm told me list is well over 1000 people.

I am willing to look at list and read posts from now until dec 24th.

I will come back here and update.
I will not give merit to anyone that asks for merit.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Pls can anyone tell me how I can be getting merit on this forum?

Participate in threads that are interesting to you, interact with members posting in the thread and topics that they raise and/or thread related topics that are raised by you, and attempt to provide substantive and meaningful posts.

LMAO

And?  What is funny about what I said?

If you are a real person and not a bot, a shill, a spammer or a scammer, then what I suggested should work well for genuine folks who are interested in earning merit over time, right?

No-one is entitled to rank up without paying their dues. You don't contribute, you don't rank up.

I was surprised that there wasn't a merit requirement for people to rank up from newbie to begin with.

It's the right choice.

A lot of my posts are of questionable quality and I've managed to get a few merits sent my way. It feels good when you're writing a good post and even better when you get merited for it.

Sometimes you'll have to either stumble upon a great idea that people haven't heard a billion times before, sometimes you'll just have to take the time to understand the topic and the thread and contribute to it.

It's not so hard. Unless you're a spammer or a bot.

It feels like merits are more common on English boards compared to local ones, so I think this change is going to have a bigger effect on local forums. Are there any statistics on what percentage of merits are given on local boards?

Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.

But it does affect:
 - Voting in polls
 - Patroller jurisdiction
 - The "ignore newbie PMs" option.
 - "The body is omitted from this email because the sender is a newbie."
 - BBCode limits
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

One reason that I was hesitant to do this before is that there are an awful lot of newbie restrictions, and I don't want the forum to be unwelcoming to good newbies. I'll think about tying some of those to activity instead of rank in the future.

With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.

Dear sir, sorry for my English. i'm learning it since 1 years for understand crypto world better. (using google translate sometimes).
will there be more merit sources for other languages forums ? it's too hard to get merits on other languages forums, and not enaugh sources. we have to use dns or vpn for joining bitcointalk in my country. But i think bitcoin is for everyone and for kicking all restrictions.

And.. Please analyze bounty threads. Peoples gives merits to bounty managers for bounty threads. İn my opinion its not fair.

for example: 17 merits for a classic bounty thread ? https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-bounty-vogov-love-crypto-and-porn-4598087

and than they gives merits for other bounty thread managers.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1017137

may you can deaktivate bounty messages for merit.

regards.

I think this decision does not fit the rule of law. A new act cannot be applied to the past. However, I think the rights of the existing Jr. members should have been kept. This decision is really unfair. Ok, I understand the issues such as spamming, multi-accounts etc. The administrators should find other ways to prevent these issues, decreasing ranks is not ethical and will not be a solution. I think the cryptocurrency world has (or had) an ideal defending equality. This type of discrimination is against this ideal, too. I hope the administrators reconsider this decision.

Based on your account history, you've only made posts for bounty entries since April (5 months) and started participating in other threads since the 12th of September. If you keep that up for a couple of weeks, I'm sure you'll get merits soon enough.
I was talking about morals, ethics, laws, ideals, justice. I was NOT begging to anyone. Your style which tries to look down on me and others is disrespectful. Go and learn some respect. Until then, do not reply to my posts anymore. OK?

This is really a great idea but I suggest the merit needed for a junior member to move to member should be reduced to 5. The 10 merits is quite high to come by easily and besides people hardly award merit. So please try and take my suggestion into consideration.
Thanks for your unrelenting effort to push the forum to a new height.

Anyone notice the added benefit of this change - linking alts will be much easier? Think about it, due to the new requirements you can bet that users will start transferring 1 merit to alts and we all know how efficient our investigators are on this forum lol. I've seen very complex linking between alts in the Meta/Reputation forum and I look forward to uncovering them. But, as I've said, if possible I would just add a requirement for posting in Meta. Too many newbies posting here thinking the merit party is here lol.
