I assume that the result Ajax got against AZ Alkmaar today was a very surprising one for most of you. Ajax controlled the game most of the time and they were even more dominant in the second half. But all of the goals came in this half and Ajax couldn't hinder the 1-2 loss in Amsterdam. And Feyenoord also got an unsatisfying result against Groningen by 1-1. They have equal points with Ajax now and Ajax are keeping their lead. However, we are in the last minutes of the Nijmegen - PSV game and there is a 1-1 tie. If PSV score the winner, they will be the new leader by one point. Otherwise, they will be one point behind at the third position.

interesting weekend, after successful mid-week matches for Ajax and Feyenoord and PSV fiasco in Spain

Ajax has home match with AZ, that could be an issue, but probably goals are seen there for sure, since AZ does not play bus in front of the goal
Feyenoord had to play good to win in Groningen, while PSV is playing Nijmegen

Ajax wont have an easy match against AZ,but watched AZ against Randers they played pretty bad while Ajax is in really good form in all competitions. I think we can expect and intresting match between this two teams, but i think Ajax will win for sure this match.

yeah, AZ won in Amsterdam
what was expected as an easy round for top three came as total surprise, Ajax lost home match with AZ, Feyenoord took only point in Groningen, and PSV just scored an equalizer against Nijmegen, it is 1:1 at the moment

PSV now has a chance to take the top in last 10 minutes, what was impossible after 0:5 against Ajax few rounds ago

What a hell of a surprise guys! I mean it was an insanely close game all the time and AZ got lucky here and there, but a win is a win. I would say congratulations to all those who bet on a win for AZ in Amsterdam! Wink Anyone had the guts?

Relatively easy games for the top three this weekend. It is all about the teams making some easy mistake in the league before they meet head to head. Very close to each other despite Ajax Amsterdam having these astounding stats. Probably comes down to the head to head matches as they don't seem to be leaving many points on the table against other teams.

The top three teams are already far ahead of the others after leaving only fifteen weeks behind in the Eredivisie. And there is one point gap each between Ajax-Feyenoord and Feyenoord-PSV. I'm dreaming of this rivalry to continue to the end. But I'm aware that Ajax still have the potential to start pulling away at some point. It is up to Feyenoord and PSV to prevent Ajax from doing that.

Ajax played a home match against Willem II yesterday. And they demolished Willem II by a score like 5-0 easily. Maybe Willem II started nicely to the season but they didn't have anything to do against Ajax here in this away match. There is a very visible gap between these two teams and I wouldn't expect a different thing to happen. Maybe Ajax can pull a little away from one of the closest teams that follow them in the standings.
The current season Ajax is really superior and the proof is that they managed to dominate the current position table with only one defeat from 15 matches.
apart from that they also dominate the UCL position table as well and in fact they have never experienced a defeat even though it is proof that ajax currently cannot be underestimated.

At the start of the Eradivisie I actually saw the Willem II's performance as promising but for now they are really messed up. Their last 6 matches (Eradivisie & KNVB) have all been lost which saw them drop deep into the mid-table

Well even if Willem performed well, they wouldn't have the tiniest chance to compete with Amsterdam over the course of a whole season. PSV is probably the only team that could stay close behind Amsterdam, but it all depends on Amsterdam and whether they are going to make mistakes or not.
Their chances are really slim here because willem is the weakest of the teams competing for the championship.
PSV are very good but I now prefer Feyenord's game and indeed they are doing quite well at the moment.

But maybe for now we might see ajax back who was on top at the end of the season

Yes, but in the Champions League Ajax has another wonderful advantage compared to most other teams: nobody expects anything from them. Nobody expects them to reach the finals or to even win the CL. They can just play their very best and then see how far that best paired with a little bit of luck maybe, will get them. I think they are going to play a serious role in the final round in the CL for a good while.

not sure about that, I think that fans expect at least QF from Ajax, and that would not be easy for them
they are playing great in the group stage, but it is really up to draw in kick-out rounds, and that could be a booger for Ajax, if they draw some really hard opponent in next rounds, first kick-out round should be easy, since they will start from top spot, but after that anything can happen

Sure I am not saying it is easy for them or nobody has expectations, fans always have at least hope. If they are realistic, they won't have as much expectations in Amsterdam as the fans do in Paris or Munich. Ajax almost made it to the final two years ago if they didn't concede the goal in the 96th minute in the semis. I believe that they can cause trouble to every single team in the final round of the CL.

Damn I have a hard time believing Ajax' goal difference. That must definitely be record breaking not only for the Eredivisie, but probably in Europe soccer history ever. 3.2 to 0.133 goals per game after 15 games. Every 8 games they concede one goal. Cheesy Yet they have three draws and a loss, which is the most surprising when you see those stats. Anyway, they just have proven with their 5 - 0 that they are extremely stable. Whoever they are going to face in the Champions League, it is not going to be easy against them. Those guys are seriously on fire.

Ajax has a very good defence this year and as you mentioned also in the Champions League where the opponents are a bit stronger than in the domestic league. In the league itself, PSV won their game yesterday and Feyenoord must now follow suit tonight in order not to lose the connection, this year everything is very exciting.

The start of the new game week is going to be with the Ajax - Willem II game tonight. Ajax are the leader of the league now but Feyenoord and PSV are right behind Ajax respectively. They would like to win this game and hope for their closest opponents to lose points this week. Willem II were one of the teams that made a great start. But they are on a terrible streak now. In this condition, I don't wait for them to be able to resist Ajax.

Ajax won their match yesterday 5:0. Today PSV should follow suit, but they have against Utrecht the 4th of the table a difficult game, even Utrecht knows that they have to win in order not to lose the connection to the TOP 3 completely. Feyenoord has the game only on Sunday against the penultimate of the table.

I'm quite happy to see a great competition for the title among three teams now: Ajax (33 points), PSV (31 points) and Feyenoord (29 points). For some time, PSV and Feyenoord made use of the point losses that Ajax made and closed the gap very much. But at the last weekend, they both lost 2 points when Ajax won their away game against S. Rotterdam by a 1-0 score. But it doesn't seem like Ajax will be able to have a very comfortable title in this season. And I'd be glad if at least one of the other two teams can keep chasing Ajax till the last week of the season for the title.

Yesterday Feyenoord won their supplementary match and is now 2nd in the table, one point behind Ajax and one point ahead of PSV. It seems that this year's season will be more exciting, but wait for the spring and how far Ajax comes in the Champions League. Champions League is also again a load and there can be spared as good as no players, also PSV and Feyenoord play internationally and need more forces, wait and see which team can handle the many loads better.
