This table is quite interesting because it almost feels like if it was misleading. The scoring statistics for Ajax are beyond doubt out of this world and yet the other teams managed to stay somewhat close to Ajax. However, I think that in the end it will be a fight between Feyenoord and Ajax. They are usually the most constant teams and Ajax also has proven to be the most constant because of the Champions League where there performance so far was just superb.
there was a say that title is not win by 6:0 wins, it is won by 1:0 wins that are consistent
Ajax is playing great, but they lost some points in easy matches, and that could add-up in the end
I think that Ajax will get title winning streak when they left Champions League, because at the moment CL seems as a priority for them, and after both wins over Dortmund, they left points in Ere division
Yep totally agree, well said! You could see that once with Atletico Madrid when the led the table not because they scored the most (which they didn't), but because they didn't concede any goals. Madrid and Barcelona had these monstrous scoring statistics while Atletico didn't, but the decisive difference was that they won all those games 1:0.
Now to be fair here, the reason I said that this table is misleading is the fact that Ajax has BY FAR the best defense as well. This is why I pointed that out. But the two goals they conceded cost them so much that despite the 37 scored they are still only 4 points ahead from the fourth.
I definitely agree, Ajax but also PSV have triple loads but not as big squads as other teams for example in the Champions League. Ajax will spend the winter in the Champions League, and wait and see what opponent they get in the next round. But if a big load falls away Ajax will increase the gap in the league, I'm sure, possibly even a reinforcement of the Champions League money is fetched in the winter.
When Ajax performed so well in the Champions League last time and afterwards sold a couple of key players like de Ligt, I really thought that might get a big bump into their short term future, but here they are again. Performing outstandingly well in the league and in the Champions League and damn, these guys are hungry for sure. In the next round of the Champions League I am sure that whoever gets them as an opponent, it is not like you would say yeah, we got an easy one. Ajax is on fire once more!
