I do not understand. Can anyone give me a correct estimate on how many hours diff retarget is?

Its yzy.

Diff retarget time is 1 day if nethashrate stays constant like when retargeting.

But in this case is nethashrate lowering like 10times, and there this hard blocks to solve. Only a few hahshes are there on them and it takes them muchmore time - not 2 minutes a block but for example right now around 14minutes.

block time 2min. diff change 1day => 30 (per hour) x 24 (1day) = 720 blocks...
720 blocks x 17 = 12240

the diff will change after block 12240

grts

Thanks!

Cheers. Which pool is giving you that calculation? The calculation at miners-point.com seems to be wrong. It's saying after block 13,104, it seems to think there are 1,008 blocks per retarget  Undecided

Join http://rpc.pooljunkie.nl for a while and decrease that block saving  rate!! You can set your cgminer pool settings to balance between pools if you don't like to dedicate everything to only thus coin! Switch between various pools to optimize your earnings!!

I'll be doing this to indicate how hard the network needs the hash rate to stay steady!

It's seriously getting an issue guys...

Bought a large amount of RPC and agree with the philosophy behind it.  Not sure I feel about it now as its lost value with the drama about a fork.  Got cold feet as I went through that with CAT not too long ago.  I'm still holding a percentage of both but just took this opportunity to step back and diversify my holdings a bit.  GRA (Graincoin) just listed on Coinedup…took the plunge and got in at the bottom with 50% of what I (had left  Sad ) in my RPC holdings.  Thought GRA's interest feature is an interesting touch as is the superblock reward incentives to retain miners.  GRA's Devs seem more on top of things than most; community is good, website, forums.  Opinions?

HERE IS AN OFFICIAL POLL TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE DIFFICULTY CALCULATION SHOULD BE UPDATED TO REFLECT MINING POOL ABUSE OR NOT.
WE WILL BE DEMOCRATIC ABOUT THIS SINCE NO ONE PERSON IS IN CHARGE OF RONPAULCOIN. THAT'S WHAT RON PAUL WOULD WANT AND PROBABLY NOT A DICTATOR.

Why not adopt Kimotos gravity well.

If you are not sure what that is, it is an innovation from Kimoto, the developer of Megacoin. It is an difficulty adjustment algorithm that protects a coin from large pool bumping up the difficulty and leaving the coin to die.

This was invented and implemented after megacoins release, anoncoin also has it and I believe memory coin has used it as well.

worth looking into at least. Megacoin is open source so it can be checked out by those that know how.

Megacoin is my favourite, this is one of the reasons why, Ron Paul coin is my next favourite...

 Grin

When i started last month, looked through all the coins and started with Megacoin, nice to know that it is a wise choice.

Please fork this coin before it's too late.  Angry We are in impossible situation and it's beginning to look like Pyramid Scam. Yes I mean that. Like Pyramid Scam! There's no sense that only multipools get to mine this coin. They come in with their gigahashes and few hours later we are back at nearly impossible difficulty. Then they dump those coins and we have to wait 4-5 days until difficulty drops again. All in all only big dumpers and those who already have lot of bitcoin to buy them cheap, make any money out of this. I'm not going to mine this coin for you to buy it dirt cheap!
I'm in business school. Tell me how what you are saying is a pyramid scam? Read the forum.

They're working on it, OK? Colin started this thing with pure intentions, with no premine. Now the team has pressure coming from both sides.

Us investors are urging against a fork. Miners are pushing for one.

Then there is you...someone who stumbles here blurting nonsense. Someone who probably wants to just mine and dump and move to the next coin without knowing or caring what is going on here.

Join the conversation with a perspective worth hearing.
Lol, ffs, why do I even bother.
Of course I don't mean it's real Pyramid Scam. Current situation just feel like it. Look at the graph here: http://ronpaulcoin.cryptotycoons.com/RPCForum/index.php?topic=44.0

wether community comes together and invests into a big big mining farm to be free from free decision miners or you have to fork it.

No miners, no new blocks, no transactions , no trading - coin no longer exists

For me it looks like some investors do not understand how mining, nethashrate, blocktimes and diffi works together

Does any investor care about that BTC also was forked in past. NO - a investor even do not now what it is

DEV, if you do not have access to a big minig farm do that what you have to do - FORK
You really think that this coin can have a Hard Fork without affecting investor confidence? I am open to an explanation. Sincerely, you think everything will be like it never happened? Educate me.

He is delusional.

The only intentional fork in BTC history was Aug 2010 major vulnerability fix in the Bitcoin protocol.
There was also one accidental fork in Mar 2013 that created two different chains, and was resolved by client downgrade to version 0.7 which utilized the oldest transaction log in the split.
That's it. Rock fucking solid. No rule changing in the middle of run and no intentional screwing with investors.
