Guys, I was thinking of a way to use this coin as a tribute to the great man himself in the distant future. Here is the plan:

Send Ron Paul Coin to $10,000 the week he passes away

Many of you will remember how Margaret Thatcher received a rather unfortunate "send off" when activists sent the song "Ding Dong the witch is dead" from the wizard of Oz shooting up the charts the week she died.

The aim was to send the song to number 1. Ultimately it only made it to number 2 but the point was made. The plan received huge media attention.

Thankfully Ron Paul is much loved icon among libertarians worldwide. He therefore deserves a much more appropriate crowd sourced send off. And what better way to mark his life than by sending Ron Paul Coin on a memorial moonshot to $10,000.

Why is Ron Paul so important to the crypto community?

As a Libertarian, he is much admired by early bitcoin adopters and crypto enthusiasts in general. Has consistently called out the Federal Reserve and other central banks for debasing currencies by large-scale money printing.

How plausible is this plan?

I have no idea, but Ron is extremely popular among the crypto community and the supply is extremely low at under 1 million. In addition a good chunk of the coins I suspect have been lost during the crypto winter from 2013 to 2017.

How will this benefit the cause of liberty?

If RPC reaches its target (or near its target) we can donate a portion of any profit to libertarian causes as a tribute to the great man.

It will also create huge media attention and highlight the causes of liberty and individual freedom.

What are Ron Paul's thoughts on Ron Paul Coin?

Generally favorable. You can find an interview on youtube where he has discussed this coin.

Why $10,000?

It is largely arbitrary, but would send the market cap to 10 billion dollars.

This would make this the first ever multi-billion dollar tribute to any public figure in history!

We'll no longer be doing a soft fork or releasing wallets everyone. The chain started moving again and the wallets seem to be working quite solid still.
Cryptopia's wallets are out of maintenance mode and back online and Yobit has also been notified that no soft fork is on the horizon. I'm unsure if Yobit's RPC wallets are online or not though since I don't use them.
If anyone's interested, www.ronpaulcoin.cc has been updated and there's a Telegram Group invite link below Community at the top to join RonPaulCoin Community. Feel welcome to participate or not.
I just wanted to put something simple together with with site and I welcome suggestions about changing content, like the "What is RonPaulCoin?" I can remove it or anything else as well.
Thank You legendary photographer and RPF member Gage for your permission to use your photos as a background. Much appreciated!
Coinmarketcap points to that site now too, and RPC is now listed on CoinLib.io.
As Colin mentioned, if any good and respectful developers are interested in taking over this project I would just say something on the thread.

Hi guys,

This is Julian Taboada, the blockchain software developer in New York brought in by @revitup to perform updates on RonPaulCoin. I will be posting here in the very near future with updates. We are designing a new version of RPC that will appear in a fork. The intention of this update will be primarily to stop the chain from going down, as it has in the recent past.

In addition, I am building new macOS and Windows desktop applications for RPC. The wallets will feature a new dark, clean UI, similar to Adobe Photoshop. I also plan to develop a native iOS app, although that would likely be released at a later date in 2018, and whether Apple would accept into the App Store is an open question.

Please feel free to share any ideas or feedback you guys may have. I am excited to be performing this work, and to interact with the community that exists around this coin.

Thanks!
I hope the succeed futured for this project

We will all have our own ideas and thoughts about the future of RPC

lets try and bring about a positive and respectfull discussion here, and see wether we can
get some agreeance on the future direction that we can take with RPC

cheers grant

I think my input was respectful and positive, I will not be adding else to what I think the way forward should be. Anyway, whichever way it goes forward I wish RPC and those behind it success.

I agree in that all discussions everywhere on the forum should be positive and respectful.

Sorry JR, what I meant by

"lets try and bring about a positive and respectfull discussion here, and see wether we can
get some agreeance on the future direction that we can take with RPC"

was basically that in order to the coin to succeed we will need most of the current hodlers
(and prospective holders) to have some imput into where it will go from here, to get hodlers
views and take them into account when and if we make any major changes to RPC, we need
as many voices and opinions as possible to get a consensus to make the process as open,
free and fair as possible.

It was not meant as having a go at you, you are more than welcome to contribute your
thoughts here, I'm sure that we would all be happy to read them

Only lawsuit on a crypto coin is Coinye. I have not heard none from Ron Paul. If he did hear about this coin, he would more likely support it. The rarity will make him think it's the gold of cryptocurrency, as like gold's rarity value.

Can we list RPC on wikipedia ?

I was following doge closely a while back - well not really, was about 3 weeks ago! before they skyrocketed. Once they listed themselves on Wiki, their prices went up dramatically. So this might help it too!

We're focused on the technical feasibility of this question:

We're wondering if we can do a soft fork and lengthen the block re-targeting time, to let's say, "30 to 100" blocks.

Howdy revitup,

From memory we dropped the re-targeting time down because we were getting
hit by huge miners who would throw large amounts of hash for very short periods
of time whilst the difficulty was low, this would cause the difficulty to rise quickly,
then they would jump to another coin.  Once the difficulty was high, it was then
taking forever to get the next block solved, and the difficulty would stay up
high for weeks/months until it worked its way down again, then once it was low
enough, the huge miners would do the same thing again, basically scalping a
majority of the coins, whilst only mining on the pool for very short periods of
time, it basically drove many small miners away

I would prefer 10 to 20 blocks re-targeting, but would be happy with say
20-50 block re-targeting, if you think that may make things smoother

Whats everyone else's thoughts?

cheers

If this coin is taken (promoted/surchased/sold) on the basis of it being fairly low in circulation then it might have a future beyond what is being said about it.

If this coin is associated (promoted/surchased/sold) on the basis that was mentioned in the previous post then forget it:

Ron Paul is not only a great American, he is also
a shining light and role model to many freedom loving,
free thinking and caring people throughout the whole world

It would be a shame if this coin just faded away and died

I believe we owe it to Ron Paul to give the coin bearing
his name, every chance possible to make a difference

Ron Paul is someone who was not accepted by the majority of his GOP during two attempts to become US President. If people think Democrats, anti-Ron Paul and anti-Republicans will be lining up to buy Ron Paul Coins on the basis "Ron Paul is not only a great American, he is also a shining light and role model to many freedom loving, free thinking and caring people throughout the whole world. It would be a shame if this coin just faded away and died. I believe we owe it to Ron Paul to give the coin bearing his name, every chance possible to make a difference" then they are wrong, it will not happen. Many Americans do not like Ron Paul and think he is NOT a great American.

As much I liked much of what Ron Paul stood for and what he represented, he failed in his attempt to be nominated by his own party as their candidate for President of the USA. The idea that a person with that magnitude of political failure is worthy of the praise being heaped upon him by the previous poster is plain wrong. Nobody from the crypto-world owes anything to Ron Paul so need to update this coin to please Ron Paul as he probably could not care less and probably has no interest in RPC.

Ron Paul was a congressman for many years championing many causes especially being a clear mind and breathe of fresh air when it came to the Middle East, those who know about his views have thanked him. I liked his performances in the live TV debates with the GOP candidates, a very knowledgable man not to the far right of the views his party held.

If the fork resulted in disassociating Ron Paul from Ron Paul Coin and renaming and rebranding it then it would go further because of its non-political new lease of life. The fork and upgrade would be a great opportunity for that.

If the new format with fork just updates and upgrades the chain and the new team create new QTs and social media lines but keep Ron Paul and RPC as-is then so be it but in 2018 not many people will look back with nostalgia for Ron Paul (a very decent politican) and say "I want to buy Ron Paul Coin".

G'day and welcome Julian, and thank you
for taking up the challenge, (to keeps the lights on
so to speak), on a coin that does mean quite
a lot to me and I am sure many others here

Ron Paul is not only a great American, he is also
a shining light and role model to many freedom loving,
free thinking and caring people throughout the whole world

It would be a shame if this coin just faded away and died

I believe we owe it to Ron Paul to give the coin bearing
his name, every chance possible to make a difference

Getting the blockchain moving and back to good health
again is the first step to giving RPC a chance of a future

It looks like you are ironing out some glitches in the code,
and we now have the blockchain that moves again..hallelujah

Regarding the soft fork, would we need all the coins off of
the exchanges and sitting in wallets first, or would the coins
in the exchanges still be valid after the soft fork, I know its
probably a silly question, the issue is with yobit, and them
having the withdraw window shut, due to being under maintainance

Another thing to think about is the need to probably raise
some funds, at present, revitup I believe is funding the work.

We really need a working fund if we are going to take this
coin forward and give it a purpose, this should be discussed
here IMO on an open forum, there are several ways to raise
the funds needed, one of which is by somehow issuing coins
and selling them, if we do go down this path would a hard
fork be the way to go...anyway food for thought

A big thank you again revitup, all your work has been
greatly appreciated this end

cheers grant

Interesting. If the main reason for your fork will be to stop the chain from going down (as it has in recent times) then that is great to save an old coin and you have covered the mac/windows desktop wallets so that is good news.

As of today there are approximately 917,000 RPC in circulation. Will that number remain or will you make a swap 2:1 or 3:1 swap?
