Will there be a rescue solution if the Trezor breaks?
Like a second identical Trezor (stored at a safe place) which can be used as backup?

I can attest to the Canon camera problem (my Ixus which is otherwise a great camera now has a lot of trouble with its MiniUSB and I don't use it that much).

In my 10+ years of professional computer work I have never seen a USB plug so worn it no longer works. They can withstand a long operational lifetime.

I can testify to the contrary. Our retail shops use compact cameras (usually Canon) to take photos for eBay and if they don't drop them the MiniUSB socket is the first thing to fail. They always do...

But that's not saying it can't be done right Smiley It just need to be designed carefully.

This should be made water and dust proof.
Also why is the connection not bluetooth instead of usb? That connector will wear out.

It'll be dust proof but not water proof. The device has no battery in this version, so you cannot "just use bluetooth instead of USB".

I would say for a real savings account you should maintain a true solid offline account, like the physical Bitcoins or something similar. This device helps bridge the gap to make offline spending easier for other things.

That's because 5 year old hardware is replaced & any port that survives ten years was not used much.

Micro USB ports are rated for 10,000 cycles (insertions). At ten a day that's less than 3 years. Won't be an issue for most people, but its something to think about.

Oh no battery? Didn't realize that. Smart move.

I didn't imply it was easily done, just wondering how long a micro-usb connector will last.

For 1.3btc i would want it to be waterproof.

Any chance you guys could do an IPO? I know A LOT of people want to invest in your company.

Do you have some experience with starting an IPO that you could share? Keep in mind that we are not US citizens. Also why do you think a lot of people would like to invest? Please use PM so we'll keep this thread on topic.

isn't http://www.indiegogo.com/ better than kickstarter?

We were thinking about IG as well, but the fact is KS has much better coverage and also is better known.

Why not a self-starter? http://selfstarter.us/ ... and then send a PR note to all major tech blogs? Bitcoin has BIG tech media attention now

That probably would work wonders  Wink

Did this end up getting to Kickstarter? I could not find it but how does the saying go "shut up and take my money!" Smiley

We sent all required materials to Kickstarter a few days ago. We hoped the campaign will be approved prior the San Jose Conference, but it seems Kickstarter is taking its time. We do believe it'll be online next week - keep your eyes open for updates. Thank you all for the support! :-)

Given that Litecoin is wire-compatible with Bitcoin outside of the block headers, I would suspect that Trezor can already be used for it without any firmware changes. There's hardly any difference at all.

Technically there's no reason why TREZOR could not support Litecoins or any other alternative coins.

The reality is, there are no legitimate use cases for these alternative coins so we are focusing just on Bitcoin right now. Adding support later is just a matter of a simple firmware update.
