Both will continue to grow for a very long time. They say that 2018 is the year of the ether. It will definitely grow 2-3 times during this period.

Not an expert in Waves, but hodling ETH is a good option. If you can, buy some more and hodl for half a year (at least). You won't regret it! 
For me its obviously Ethereum.. It is the best coin after bitcoin.. Eth price is now little bit low and stable also.. And i think it will cross 2000$ in the last year of 2018.. So hold it as soon as possible.. And Waves are also good coin with huge potential.. You can buy some waves for future.. Because its not so high price like Eth..

these waves are actually very normal. people are accustomed to the continuous rise of ETH. thought prices are very surprised. Of course they will. so that patient people will win. the nearest time will be 2000 USD.

I hold more ETH, as seen from prospect of ETH coins is very good for the future 
You would make more of a higher percentage buying more Waves than buying 3 ETH. Waves is more likely to triple or even 10X, where as ETH might only double at best this year. Just my opinion. If you're looking for a short to medium term cash out I would suggest waves. ETH is solid though and unlikely to lose its hold as one of the top 5 coins. Waves is good long term hodl too as it will not only rise in price but also pays something similar to a dividend for holding.
What about Polymath ? I think it's heading ethereum's direction and have seen it deployed in some ICO's
I was a huge fan of waves and i am still but it’s not growing as fast as i expected it to grow. I thought waves would be in a much better situation right now. It still has the potential so i don’t see any harm in putting your money in waves.

I think just holding your ethereums might bring really good profits in the future. Because, in my opinion, it have a great potential for the future. Of course I can not say that waves is a bad coin, but I think ethereum might be a better choice.
I've invested in both coins. But have a greater amount of Waves than ETH.
Right now, imo Waves is undervalued and I filled my bags a little more.
I wouldn't bank on just one coin, seeing as you have 3 ETH, consider buying around 100 Waves or so at least.
