Very interesting comparison that analyzes holding ETH in 2017 vs holding it today... https://cryptotradernews.com/cryptocurrency/hodling-ethereum-2017-vs-2019/

I stopped reading when it says that ETH reached its all time high (ATH) in December 2017. That is wrong, it hit its peaked second week of January 2018 @ @14++. So I guess this is just another crappy article for click bait and ad revenue, (just warning to those guys who are going to read it.)

Thoughts? I'm super happy to have swaped all of my ETH for BTC to be honest

Good for you, Around March-May 2018 was the best time to switch from ETH to BTC because that month alone, ETH went on a downward spiral. So for those who decided to HODL, then it's either they remain as a HODLer or have sold it at a loss.

I think we still cannot compare holding ETH in 2017 vs holding in 2019. You know that 2019 is not over yet, there are still many possibilities to happen in the next few months. Surely, it is not the right time for comparing them, guys.

I'm super happy to have swaped all of my ETH for BTC to be honest

Why you are super happy? Have you got high profits by moving your asset from ETH to BTC?
You probably will regret it when ETH can go up significantly in the near future, while BTC just grows gradually.
I am afraid that you just follow FOMO.  Grin

it is true that the price of ETH in 2019 does not increase very high like the price in 2017, but at least the price of ETH has started to increase compared to 2018, so I am sure in the future the price of ETH will definitely start to increase very high again and of course it will give investors a big profit.

I thought that you will compare Ethereum - use, technology, user base in 2017 and now. But you only talk about the price, just everyone else.
Why there are not many blogs that deeply research an altcoin and will shortly review it?

Ethereum has a future if they can keep with the times and focus on innovation, why was ethereum going for 1400 at the peak times instead of 8 bucks like it started the year? Because, it was capable of creating a reason of purchasing, you bought eth to buy crypto kittens, you bought eth to fund ICO's which was billions of dollars in funding, you bought eth to build on blockchain app for it.

Basically, there was a lot of reasons to buy etheruem, right now there looks to be none, if ethereum team can create a reason once again so will the people follow and buy ethereum however if they fail to innovate and create new stuff than eventually they will be out of business and ethereum will go low while some other coin go up. I am not saying it will be zero but look at litecoin, at one time litecoin was the second biggest coin, silver to bitcoins gold, now its out of fashion, same could happen to ethereum.

I believe ethereum is still worth holding. but I don't agree if there is a prediction that ethereum in the future will have a $1T marketcap and prices above $11K, this is very unrealistic.

That prediction is too optimistic, I personally think that in the future the crypto market will be dominated by several coins, not just bitcoin and ethereum.
But you must admit that they have been market leaders for quite some time. So they need to be taken for granted. And new coins will be created every day.

I have swapped my ethereum too but there was only a few ether still left in my wallet.
I have been reading the whole article and my opinion even ethereum has so many advantages compared with bitcoin but it's not clear what will be the main business will have taken by ethereum.
ICO market has already destroyed by exchange site through its IEO and what's next? This can be an interesting topic to discuss.

You swapped all of your ETH for BTC? I feel like you shouldn't have done that. Not all of it at least... Diversifying isn't bad
On the cue ball the whole market is held , and all the coins are traded to the cue ball do not see diversification here , Ethereum has already outlived its and my opinion it will roll down , since there is no future for it !

I still have some hopes for ETH. The funny thing is in 2017 I really disliked it, because of the history surrounding it and how it all seemed to be centralized around 1 guy. But he has become nicer and the pool of developers have really grown as well, and there are serious moves towards ETH 2.0 so all hope is not over yet for this coin.

In 2017 I sold all ETHs, because at that time the price was very good if we compare with the current one, and I also feel sorry for those who have bought ETH in 2017 and hold it until now, because the price comparison is very far away.

No coin till date has over performed its 2017 price. None, including Bitcoin. 2017 was a glorious era for this industry. On the hindsight, I am sure you too would've sold all your Bitcoin holdings for Fiat because even the mighty Bitcoin took a great fall to as low as $3,000. However, there are greater and interesting days ahead for this industry with daily happenings pointing towards that direction of mass adoption.

In the year of 2017 Ethereum was reached it's highest ever peak in the value of more than $1500. This because of the super bull came then not only for the giant but whole cryptocurrency market. Now in 2019 Ethereum declined from it's peak almost above 6 times but this decline in the crypto market is very usual and not countable as maximum of altcoins decline more than 100 times. So, keep fain in ETH network and the time will come again by the year of 2021. Then Ethereum must reached the price level of $10,000.

There are a lot of thread who discuss about alt season and most of the user said the alt season will not come at this year, yeah those are only specualtion generally because we never know the altcoin season come for sure. However, you have a good choice to move your money into bitcoin rather than you choose some altcoin to store your money because that is will same as you hold ETH.

I believe bitcoin will have a good price in the next months, I read some article that says bitcoin price will goes up according some experts especially the people who have a company. More than that, there is a new who stated that Bakkt future trading will be launch on 23 september next month. Actually that is a good new we have so far since we always wait the news in last year. We have a hope that some companies will choose bitcoin as their investment since the global crisis has been coming.

2017 was a big year for ethereum and majority of the ERC-20 tokens. Further there is no big growth, the market kept crashing. None expected such a huge loss in ethereum value falling low to $100 from a value close to $1500. By those days bitcoin too experienced a great fall in its value. Later when bitcoin started to pump high ethereum was the same without big growth. Hope 2020 will be big for ethereum.

you sure? ETH has lost nearly 90% of its value against bitcoin! this means if you had invested 1 bitcoin in ETH and became a bag holder now you would have only 0.1BTC left. if you think that is a good idea then you shouldn't make any investment at all.

as for diversification, if you want to do that then buy stocks or gold or things like that to diversify not altcoins.

We are talking of comparison between 2017 and 2019 for ETH, right? Are you guys already analyzing stuff for ETH in 2017? Or have you been immersed in crypto or even in altcoin within those years?

I wonder why out of 5 posters here, 4 are newbies. I can smell something fishy.  Grin
