Is this a good one?

sorry for too much dumb questions  Roll Eyes but I want to order 6x GPUS and dont want any surprise  Grin

I am going to use Asrock H81 Pro BTC as motherboard and the ethosdistro for OS.
The specs is good so i think it profitable.. but you should still monitor the electricity cost because this one is not well know use. and many people site are giving recommended GPU to mine altcoin or ethereum.. some ethereum calculator have list of GPU.

I do not know how efficient the Rx 480 is for other Algo. What if ETH goes into POS in next year? You may not get back your ROI. It is just my opinion. Coz we need to measure a lot of things before  start mining to make a profit.

The RX 480 is not as good as the 1070 for other algorithms. It is even worse than the R9 nano. But it is cheaper.

is it profitable to mine with a AMD 7950 ? I mine ETH and ETC sometimes. ETH was my first profitable coin. But this current situation is making my mining more difficult. ETC or ETH , which one will be real king, which one will ruin , no one knows. People are confused. Miners will loose their faith on ETHEREUM
It can be profitable defends in your electricity cost how much your electricity cost per kw/h?
So that we can calculate it here.. try other calculation here https://badmofo.github.io/ethereum-mining-calculator/
maybe it can help you to calculate the cost and profit..

Any profit between 4gb and the 8gb version of r480 for mining?

If you set the same memory frequency for the two memory types, there is no difference. But the 8GB will use  slightly more energy.

Hi,  I normaly mine btc using bitmain hardware,  now I also consider to mine some eth or etc.  Whats currently the best videocards for mining?

The best video card for mining is the AMD RX 480 or the nVidia 1070. Both are every efficient and AMD is cheaper.

I can get the rx290 for +/- 150 euro secondhand and the rx 480 is  300 euro.  So its almost double.  However when checking online videocard charts they both hash at +/- 30

Is it stil beter to go with rx 480? If yes,  why?

Thanks,
Sam

The 480 is will use less than half of the energy for the same hashing power compared to the 290x.

Offhand something like:
 480 = 120 W
290x = 230W

For my R9 390, it use 160W from the wall which hashing at 27.5 MH/s. But it is agressively undervolt, underclocked.

Do you agree with gain from whattomine or coinwarz ?
I'm experiencing a massive difference between estimated and real.

My RX 480 gives me 29 Mhash, i'm using claymore so i have 1%fee, mining on nano pool, so another 1% fee.

In 24H, according to previous quoted calculators i should get >0.16ETH, but i've collected only 0.13 ETH.
0.03 ETH is more than 15% of my earnings..

Probably some of my math is wrong, correct me please

Do you guys know how to compare easily profitability between mining ETH and other GPU based coins ?
I know coinwarz for example , but it's not easy when you don't know about the others coins.
100MH/S of ETH mining is not the same hashrate if you consider another coin.
I'm sure there is a tool somewhere that can tell me if my GPU ETH Hashrate could be used better somewhere else if another coin appear or grow.
I don't know if my question is clear, please let me know if I have to explain better. (non english speaker)

You just need to test every algorithm in your mining rig or get the value from somebody else, then use the coinwarz.

I have been running my eight 480s for like 3.5 weeks now and closing in on 1BTC worth of ETH.
My plan was to go ROI at end of November and it seem like i am going to make it.

I am not going to sell one single ETH this year though, stacking up and paying the electricity out of my own pocket.

Two more 480s arriving today hopefully and they should ROI in December at the latest.

Do you think your 480 can ROI in 3 months? Did you consider the rise of the difficulty. It rises 30% every month.
Yeah i am pretty sure i will reach ROI even if the diff rises alot.
I think that the ETH price will go up from here until we know if it goes POS or more POW.

I hope so. But for the last few months, the Ethereum price did not rise. If the trend continues, it will not be profitable.

I think the Ethereum price will rise a lot when the DEV2 meeting is held in a few weeks. In fact, it is 12 days away.

I think you are refering to this website:

http://www.whattomine.com/

Put in your hashpowers for each algo and it will tell you the best coin.

I initially bought SIX R9 390 from a local electronics retailer. They ran VERY hot and pulled an idiotic amount of power. Both PSU's ran so hot it was difficult to make contact with them for more than 10-15 seconds. I ended up returning all six 390s and purchased RX 480's. I only lost appx 3 MH/s per card. However, my PSU's now run lukewarm and I'm saving about 1000 watts in power consumption for the entire rig. Overall hashrate went down slightly, but profitability increased dramatically. It seems that the RX 480s tend to have a more stable reported hashrate in ethermine. I'm sold on the RX series... So much so that I bought another six GPU for another rig Smiley

The RX 480 is much better than the R9 390. A few months ago, it is good to buy the 390 if you know how to undervolt.

I dont understand why people think Eth mining is not profitable. Unless you have very high electricity costs.

With 2 480s, I mine $4 a day worth of Eth. My electricity cost is $0.1/kwh. I pay about $0.5 dollar per day.

Even if you were paying $0.5/kwh you would STILL be making a profit of $1.50 per day.

And I am pretty sure nobody is paying $0.5 per kwh of electricity.

Most people do not have the RX 480, they have the 280X or the 390, they are more inefficient than the 480.

Only by 50%, still profits to be made.

"only by 50%" that's a big difference if you want to ask, still remaining at the previous generation is a suicide, if you don't have basically "1 cent" energy
