I agree with you. Yes, there is definitely a chance that it will happen. But as you said, not in the near future. the price gap between bitcoin and ETH is very high and that will take years and will take a lot of peoples acceptance to ETH before it will happen. Lets wait and see.

Yes, I also think like you, ETH cann't overtake Bitcoin in 2018. Although ETH is considered to be altcoin with great potential as it is supported by many major corporations, its market capitalization is also very high. But to overtake Bitcoin is not easy, Bitcoin is in volatile period but its value and potential are still huge. But I think, if choosing ETH to invest then it would make a lot of profit

might happen, might never happen, and by ‘overtake’ I’m guessing that you mean when one ETH is worth more than one BTC.

The two coins are taking very different paths, my best guess for BTC is that it’ll end up as a store of value, a commodity, unless the team tackle payment processing capacity and time.

ETH is a more flexible tool, a platform for business but both coins have the potential to change and develop.

The future of both coins are down to the communities and teams involved in them.

I think it will and I think that many people are going to be surprised, but it is inevitable IMO due to the rapid progression an development of the enviroment and the cool stuff in ethereum.
