Well,I prefer both.they have a strong base with good support community and their present ranks are to be considered aswell.their growth depends on bitcoin growth.once every thing settles down and gets legalized,these will boom for sure
I would buy both coins. The price of ETH will only grow. Ripple also a very promising coin. And for the moment is much cheaper ETH. A good opportunity to take advantage of this.
They are completely different. I recommend holding some of both.
In my opinion, it is wise to split your money and buy ETH and some other alternative coin that will make your money for a certain period of time.
Its wise to stay not only with one coin but diversifying it with other coins. In this choice of ETH or Ripple, if you had bought Ripple way back the time OP asked the question then you probably earned when it reached $3 but since when it comes to altcoins, there's no one can beat ETH. It's next to bitcoin and it's movement is unquestionable, there's a strong community behind it and its dev is very solid. While ripple is totally centralized and being control by the bankers.
Ethereum is a promising technology and Ripple is just a temporary speculative coin. At any time Ripple can be canceled.Now it is very clearly visible!
XRP is my gambling token, mainly because I see it as heavy hype, more centralized, and less utilities than ETH

Definitely Ethereum. Or you may buy some xrp on the dip and dump it at the first big pump (+30% is ok) and buy ETH again. Ripple is regulated token which goes against core values of crypto community.

Hello!I think ethereum becose big idea,work is invest in this name and this is whole platform peoples can create apps on it!Altought ripple is only transaction token,fast transaction and the banks pumped it up and withdraw big money,peoples lose lot off cash, dont think ripple can now get over ethereum!My answer is ethereum!
I will choose ETH. Based on my research and opinion ETH is a smart contract chain and more business will deploy their business on the ETH and they will gas to power those contracts. So it will make ETH to grow in value. Ripple is not a decentralized system.
ETH will be the best. Ripple has to hold you for a long time to grow. But ETH is increasing now, it can be 2-3K at any time. So for a long time, you can buy a refill or not, buy Ether.
ETH all the time... No doubt.As per utility token definition, XRP is Utility token. I think, Recent manipulation of XRP price go up and many investors stuck in XRP that's that's why XRP holds still 3 positions in CMP. ETH is alway's better for investment, people trust it.
Do research before you buy any Crypto currecncy. in my perspective, prefer to invest in ethereum because ethereum now have many investors and its price rising rapidly. Ripple token is very low price by now. You must invest for long term and ETH has been tested by most of us especially those in this forum who know the importance about ETH

Ethereum is my best love .BTC is dropping and dropping there days , also most of coin listed on coinmarketcap, XRP included.But look at Eth , its price is stabler than others , when the pump time is coming , Eth will go to the moon.
I think both are good coins, but I think you should buy ethereum, because ethereum has smart contract and very much altcoin using ethereum platform and one time the price is higher

Ethereum and ripple are both good, in the performance it only differs in price but if you have a money you can invest it both because thse to might have a future or chance to beat a bitcoin. Ethereum is stable in terms of price and the ripple too. But based on projects ethereum are more good than the ripple. But the ripple has a control system and the banks support it. 
i think both ethereum and ripple are good for long term investment, think about spliting your budget to buy 2 these coins
Ethereum is more promising, because more and more projects are based on ETH. Ripple is centralized and controlled system, i dont trust it much

The two are good for buy. You can divide your money into two and buy both. I believe that both coins will do greatly well this 2018. Ethereum has a great future, likewise Ripple. Ripple actually broke some records from late December 2017 to the start of January 2018. Secondly, XRP overtook Ethereum to become the second largest cryptocurrency. The two coins i believe have great potentials.
Since Ripple is more risky and volatile than Ethereum, I'd better split my investment like 70% in favor of ETH.
