Once again, we are convinced how unpredictable F1 races are. I watched with regret as Leclerc retired from the track with an engine failure. And I was hoping that he would perform well in Barcelona. However, it didn’t work out, alas  Angry
It also seemed to me that the Mercedes set up the wing in such a way that it somehow reacted strangely. Maybe this was one of those new settings that they had prepared for Barcelona?

I loved how Russell and both red bulls (Verstappen/Perez) were dog fighting for the majority of lap 28-40.
Now this is what F1 fans want to see during a race and not just the same leader for 50+ laps just by getting pole position.
Atleast for me during the Sunday races.

That's correct. At least one Ferrari was missing from the setup, but it was a nice fight and a pretty clean one too.
All in all this year looks pretty good til now, as a show: pleasant to watch, the winner is far from clear, the top cars' performance is pretty close and it's no unnecessary drama.

Before the start of the year I hoped that maybe this time we will see other cars too fighting for the top - maybe McLaren, maybe Alpine, I don't know... Haas was a nice surprise, but now they seem to be drifting away.
But we can't have just everything. Maybe next year Cheesy
Not only that but somebody lost big on betting for Ferrari's hopeful to win it all in that race:

F1 is tough to bet on because one thing goes wrong and it is all over for that driver and his team. Certainly wouldn't have put that much on a lone driver better to put on a team being in the top 3 by the end of the race.

Lewis didn't do too bad, so should of put something on him to finish.

You are correct, but this year are a lot less space between cars and teams, the year before the top teams (Mercedes and RedBull) always can do free pit stops, but now its not so easy to make, because now the difference are closer and Mercedes coming back make you can lose time in the track if you make a Pit stop.

^ Didn't watch the race but was gifted the LeClerc out, and definitely from Twitter it seems Russell's the fan favourite over Hamilton (but really, even I knew that without watching haha).

I did want the lead in first place to be cut, but not like this. Feels a bit flat, though I suppose it adds to the tension in coming races, if Ferrari engineers actually wake up, of course.

Tight, tight, tight, but well done for yellow cap, casper! Leaderboard is sooo close, and this round only 3 points separating yellow cap from bottom.

Russell is a beast and I'm saying it since he was in Williams and he finally has a car.

He will fight with Max and Charles for titles in the following years.
Glad Russell has made his way out of Hamilton's shadow in Toto's eyes for this race.
Mercedes with him at the wheel can still make it competitive.
Hamilton hasn't made much improvements in his driving although he did crack top 10 and I even doubted he would finish so high on the leaderboard at lap 32.
Leclerc had to pull out of the race with a power failure of his engine on lap 27.
While watching it again you can the hear the gears just shift down without him doing anything.
Just like everything powering down, it was weird.

Strange things happen in F1 and that of course makes it so much fun to watch. I actually expected that Leclerc would win and that Verstappen would be 2nd. You actually know that every race is between these 2 drivers, but you also depend on the engine and the technique. Verstappen has now again taken the lead in the battle for the world championship. Things can change quickly. Lewis will not become world champion, however, we can make that assumption.

Amazing race really fun to watch.

But the main thing in this race its.......... yessssss MERCEDES IS BACK!!!!!. I know its early to celebrate but i think in a few races we can have a 3 way fight for sure.

1- First time a Mercedes (Russel) can fight in track against the Red Bulls.
2- Hamilton chasing and detroying Sainz Ferrari , and putting amazing times.

If they keep going in this direction , if im Ferrari and Redbull be very afraid.

Really  Huh In fact, Mercedes is far behind Red Bull, and if not  Ferrari's problems, then behind them also. So far, the situation for Mercedes is the same as at the beginning of the season - to "pick up" the remnants points of the leaders and fight for 5-6th place.
In general, the fact that the fight for the championship has escalated is good, but it's a pity that Leclerc missed the lead.

It was a sick race. Imho the driver of the day, by far, was Russell and not Hamilton.

Ferrari did it again. In a bad way. Engine 2022v2 looks less reliable than 2022v1. What a pity, they've just made this season of F1 less interesting. I hope that they'll fix their issues, pronto!
Max was incredibly lucky to get the win with that mistake and all those DRS issues, especially as he seemed to not be able to handle well his frustration on the matter. Checo should have won in a fairer world.

And.. yeah, Hamilton vs K-Mag... did Hamilton do a short and sudden kick on K-Mag or not? I didn't get to see more than one replay, but it kinda looked like that.

Whoa LeClerc retires so I have a chance now with Verstappen in the lead after forcing it off Russell (which is what he's good at) -- though we all lose podium points anyway, but damn, I knew something would come up, just not like this. Tsunoda still in with a chance at 11 with just over 22 laps to go. Not bad, not bad. Talk about Ferrari bottling it with their engine!

What has happening to Verstappen's car cause at almost every time I see him losing control at the turns.
He already went off the track once due to wind grabbing his tailend of the car and forcing him off into the gravel.
Same thing happened to Sainz.
Hamilton is not going to make it to top 10 because he had a puncture due to a Haas running into him on lap 1.

And what if the rider doesn't know how to defend himself, but his car is faster, and in order to realize this, he must be ahead (and not rest against a pilot who knows how to defend himself)? Obviously, pole is not winning a race, but it is a significant advantage and it is better to have it than not.
Hamilton keeps losing to teammate heh.

Obviously pole position does mean an absurd advantage for any driver.
Having a clear view in front of you needing to worry only about who arrives behind is very good.
Of course, that alone doesn't win a race, refueling stops and tire changes also require a lot of technique from the team to maintain this position.

I am not so sure being at the pole position means as much as people give credit for when we are talking about second position being Max. I mean we have seen Max start from second line, being third, behind Sainz and Charles, just last race and we have seen him take over Sainz literally on the first turn and then took over Charles and won the race very easily as well.

I am not saying that he will do that again, we never really know what's going to happen, we have seen him fail at the last attempt because of "no power" again, which is something that happened before, so I guess that it is always possible that something wrong could happen, but I believe that Charles not at ease just yet.

Yeah, me neither. Pole doesn't mean much for drivers who can't defend (not that LeClerc can't do that, but it won't be too much of a big deal for Verstappen to overcome). Also almost a second faster in qualifying, but it counts for next to nothing on race day. So long as the Dutch guy doesn't get impatient, but you know, he's been improving on that front with experience.

Gasly and Tsunoda 13/14, definitely points for one of them I feel!

Charles needs to get a perfect win to instill confidence again in him because in the last two races he has suffered a lot psychologically and when he was at Imola the pressure of the fans made him go to sixth position. If he gets passed by Max once again tomorrow in the race and he cannot fight back or win the race this will be a huge blow to him psychologically and these type of sufferings rarely are good for anyone, remember Mika Hakkinen in 2001,Charles need to avoid this at all cost tomorrow.

It was a nice race today in qualifying. As expected, it went again between Verstappen and Leclerc. I think it would be no different at the race tomorrow either. Still, Hamilton has a little more confidence in his car, this was the best weekend for Mercedes so far this season. Hamilton could also make it to the podium tomorrow, after all, he is very good and battles battles with other drivers. I think Verstappen will win tomorrow.

I cant wait for the race.

Maybe we can have a magnificent race with three teams fighting for the win.

I really think Mercedes found the solution for his problem and in the next race they can chase the two top teams Ferrari and Red Bull i want to see in race if they have a really good pace.
