Great race out in Florida as everybody thought it was going to be a red Ferrari day after the qualifying on Saturday ended.

Glad red bull showed they aren't giving up and laying down. What a fight by Verstappen early on in the race to get first on lap 9 and hold on to it throughout the entire race.

Surprised to see Albon take 10th place but poor Lando got took out early with that crash which to me wasn't his fault.
Bottas showed he can still battle with the best.
So good to see he is getting on well with his new team at Alfa Romeo.

Leclerc kinda had his chance for getting back on top after Lando's car got thrashed. He has missed it. Too bad.
In the same restart Perez was soooo close to take over Sainz.. yet he didn't.

Albon got points again. Nice.
Haas were sooo close to points...
Alfa Romeo keeps going impressingly well this year, especially with Bottas at the wheel.

The Mercs performed better than in the past weeks and they may become a real threat after the actual upgrade (Barcelona?)

McLaren and AlphaTauri were a disappointment, especially after good looking practice and qualifying.

Nice race overall, although the middle of it was more interesting around place 10 than at the top. The end has become better for the viewers, not for Lando though.

Well done to casper, who seems to be keen on being ahead in all our pools. Verstappen, yes, glad I kept faith in him. Was a nice win AND fastest lap in the latter stages to cut the gap to LeClerc by another 8 points. Think the Monacan (is that even right?) will feel the pressure for a bit but he'll pull through again and cut that down. Just needs to have patience to see it out.

Dutchman seemed to think Miami was a letdown though, and seems to have people agreeing from McLaren. Anyone who watched agree?

Ferrari captured a really big advantage by taking the first two places before the race. Leclerc is still maintaining his superiority over his teammate Sainz in this year. Even though Mercedes are much better than the previous weeks, especially Russell's performance after the practice sessions was a big disappointment for me.

It's still not clear if it's going to rain or not.Huh
Weather doesn't seem to be factor - 24% rain and 34% for the race:
https://thesportsrush.com/f1-news-miami-grand-prix-2022-weather-forecast-what-is-the-weather-forecast-at-miami-this-weekend/
The new track looks beautiful:

They had what looked like a Pitbull concert for the drivers and introduction to the marina themed track:

Here is the schedule for the race starting today:

I really do believe that this will be one of the most entertaining, or one of the most boring races out there. It is going to be either entertaining because it's a new thing and unexpected stuff could happen and drivers do not know the track at all, and they would need to learn some stuff and there will be some drivers who will "go for it" and some that will race carefully.

Like a Max Verstappen crash isn't out of the woods yet, I could sense him doing something crazy somewhere he shouldn't. We just have to wait and see how the race will be, it is going to definitely be something unique and entertaining for sure, not going to be something crazy but unique for sure.

If I were betting on the outcome, I'd definitely lean on "most eventful". Whether or not that proves to be entertaining is another thing completely. But yeah, I like new stuff and seeing how drivers react (or perhaps how much they disobey or ask for team advice heh).

Verstappen's got to be itching to go for this though. Don't think it'll end up DNF but he's sure to ruffle some feathers heh, like you said. Unique without being crazy is what I'd expect from this weekend.

It looks like the failures of Mercedes this season give the team a new impetus to focus and bring their car to the desired state. In Miami, on a new track for everyone, it looks like Mercedes will apply small tweaks to the settings. But seriously, they promise to sort out the car for the next races in Barcelona.
I am very worried about their result in Miami. It's time for them to get out of this sad state.

Even though there have been many weeks in this season of F1, the teams still haven't been able to find a solution to the porpoising problem. I think that Mercedes can catch up with Ferrari and Red Bull in terms of the car by the end of the season. But the point gap is getting bigger and bigger and it is going to be hard to close for them. By the way, check out the F1 picture that Haas have shared. It is really amazing.

A new circuit in F1 we will see if it ends up being a fun one or a boring one.
The atmosphere is going to be great because of the people who are going to attend.
It seems to have very long straights so we will see how the teams with less top speed manage.

Well after the rest week we have race week again.
I was looking at the calendar and I see how this race in terms of logistics is left behind, because we had been running in Europe and in fact after this race we return to Europe again but only for this race the teams have to move everything to America from North

It looks like we have an official confirmation. Audi and Porsche will come to F1 in 2026.
But, despite the rumors, it looks like they will not buy/take over a team and also will not come as a new tem, instead will work it out with existing teams.

It is expected Porsche will partner Red Bull and the team's new powertrains division, whilst Audi has been linked to McLaren, Aston Martin and Sauber, the team behind Alfa Romeo's F1 entry.

Yes this years race in miami is definitely going to be crypto focused since the scene there is favored with it being sponsored under the same name.

Just heard the very sad news of Ayrton's passing:

Both Ferrari drivers paid their respects via a tweet of what the loss meant to them:
Sainz: https://twitter.com/ScuderiaFerrari/status/1520652257678835719

I am sure that NFT collection that is confirmed by Mercedes F1 team directly would definitely get some attention above what others did. Yes, we could be in a period where NFT's do not get the attention they used to get and I understand that, but the fact is that we are talking about Mercedes f1 team originals here, they are the ones who approved it and selling it, via FTX of course but it’s still there.

It means that it’s going to be a big deal when the Miami GP happens. They are the most crypto friendly city for sure but the overall Florida isn't the same, Ohio or Texas or California as states could be much better for that sense but as a city Miami is at the top for sure.

Not surprisingly, Miami is coming up with all sorts of uses for blockchain technology. The mayor of Miami is a serious fan of cryptocurrencies.

FTX’s Mercedes F1 Ethereum NFTs Come With a Piece of the Actual Car
You can own part of Lewis Hamilton’s or George Russell’s F1 car with FTX’s NFTs for next weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.
In brief
FTX and F1 team Mercedes-AMG Petronas will release NFTs in both free-to-claim and premium auction formats.
Two of the auctioned Ethereum NFTs will be paired with the physical rear wing from Mercedes’ drivers cars at the Miami Grand Prix.
Formula One’s inaugural Miami Grand Prix is set to take place next weekend, and given Miami’s rising crypto city status, it’s no surprise to hear that NFTs will be involved. In this case, the offering isn’t entirely digital—some NFTs come with a piece of a real F1 car too.
.........

It was in Miami where the idea of El Salvador getting chummy with Bitcoin and the personalities related to Bitcoin all happened. I'm not exactly a big fan myself of that kind of adoption, but I will concede that at some point, any kind of utility and progress with Bitcoin, good or bad, will at the very least help it mature even more than it already has (I mean, surely at some point lessons from the rather poor attempt at making Bitcoin legal tender in a fragile economy will help any other would-be adopter plan better).

Back to point though, NFTs already big in F1 no?

By the way, last week bitcoin was legalized by laws in Panama (population ~ 4M people) and in the Central African Republic (population ~ 5M people).  The governments of these countries probably looked at El Salvador and also decided to legalize bitcoin.   Smiley

If we talk about the spread of NFT and the involvement of F1 racing in this technology, then the first contracts were Red Bull with the Tezos cryptocurrency.
They also offered to buy NFT-pictures with individual elements of the Red Bull car and thus form a picture with the car itself.  By the way, it was not so cheap to assemble a car like that.  I think the Austrian team Red bull somehow even made money on such a hobby of NFT fans and F1 fans . Smiley

I was reading that Ferrari would bring to Miami even more power in its engine since they consider it reliable to increase it after testing it for 4 races.
In addition to changing several components of the hybrid engine with improvements in the MGU-K, the batteries and their controller.

This can make more difference between they and the rest of the field.

I had read about progress in their engine for Barcellona.

Ferrari is super strong in slow turns where the traction is important. They are working on top speed and porposing.

Thanks @delfastTions for the post about how Miami is the most crypto-friendly city in the states since they had hosted the bitcoin conference there a couple of weeks ago and the mayor also put up a statue to commemorate the occasion shown here:

Didn't know about the Mercedes partnership with FTX giving those kind of NFTs so it makes it alot more interesting the way they are distributing them for sure.
