And I'm just the opposite - I would like Leclerc to increase the lead over Verstappenen.  Smiley
To be honest, I do not like such long victories of individual riders, such as Hamilton. And this went on for many years. Although no doubt he is a talented and excellent racer.
But in his confrontation with Verstappen, now the F1 community is once again beginning to choose such an "idol".
If Leclerc manages to keep the points gap, it will bring interesting intrigue to the races themselves. It will be better and gambling for everyone. But in any case,

I wish them all great racing in Barcelona - and Leclerc and Verstappen and, of course, Hamilton. Smiley

At the moment I also want Leclerc to win because in fact his advantage is very small (considering the distance that still needs to be covered before the end of the season) and judging by the dynamics, Verstappen is more likely to win the season with a few races before the end of the season than Leclerc. As for Hamilton's success, as we see it, they are very dependent on the car - this season Mercedes has a weak car compared to competitors and Hamilton can't do anything, he is even behind a teammate.
If we see a real “surprise” from the Mercedes team for the races in Barcelona, then Hamilton may have a small chance to rise.  But the truth is most likely not his main fault in such failures at the beginning of the season.  But it looks like Lewis's long-term triumph is over.  But he's a great racer anyway.  Just the genius of the track in the past decade of 2010-20s.

I actually want the Monaco guy to win (the season). But close races are much more fun, and seeing them trading the lead over the course of this year should provide for more entertainment. Definitely feel it's less "fun" when one guy/team dominates everything. Time for Hammie to take a long ride in the back seat.

I'd love for a dark horse to cause one or two upsets, still eyeing a Tsunoda podium pick maybe on one of the races that looks iffy... but my lack of knowledge leaves me to wait to read news about such a track =)

I do not think that such cunning operations with changing the paintwork can give serious effects to lighten the car and somehow significantly affect the races themselves.  Although, of course, milliseconds matter.  But bare carbon fiber, as it seems to me, has more aerodynamic resistance compared to varnish.

Footballs become more aerodynamic, sticky stuff on baseball, skin-hugging tights in swimming, nothing beats F1 when it comes to micro-improvements on physics of course, and I don't even know how some things are legal and some aren't, but yeah, if a new coat of paint can give a milisecond improvement per lap, they'll... lap it up Wink

My picks in. And I'm favouring another Verstappen win to inch closer to LeClerc!

Interestingly (in a bad way) there's no sprint neither at Barcelona, nor at Monaco...
I hope that next year they'll add more of those.

As far as I understand, the races in Barcelona will be on dry, rather hot pavement and I wonder how Mercedes will perform?  I have not yet seen the announcement of what they came up with.
But it seems like they should present something interesting.

I had heard of this about Red bull shaving paint off the body of the car as well. These are literally grams and I can't see this changing the speed of the cars due to them being weighted down by that much.
They might as well take off decals and team sponsors stickers if it is coming to that inorder taking off these miniscule amounts of weight from the chassis of the car.
Of all the changes optimized for this season, the weight of the F1 cars has increased by an average of 43 kg compared to the year of increase Shocked, and it seems that staying only within the maximum limits, the manufacturers appeal to one in the maximum limits.
Anyway, leading the side, any 100g less is a few milliseconds faster each lap, and you know that a few milliseconds are worth a lot in F1

Red Bull improved the body of their car so down force keeps the front portion of their cars on the track and uses less of the tires.
This might be why with Max's driving abilities have seemed to figure out how to beat a well off Ferrari team.
Ferrari from next Gp will have a new bottom of the car for increasing the top speed.
The Mondial will be won by the team who will be able to improve more the car.

Indeed one of the most problematic issues of this year in F1 is the weight of the cars which has grown to conform to the new aerodynamic regulations.
However, much more curious than the changes you mentioned above is what I just read about the Ferrari... they want to change the paintwork to lose approximately 700 grams, the intention is to leave the carbon fiber exposed in some areas.
Is all this worth it?

The Mercs performed better than in the past weeks and they may become a real threat after the actual upgrade (Barcelona?)
.
Exactly! The team planned to make a powerful upgrade of the car in terms of settings and in general in general, just in time for the races in Barcelona. But this is understandable. In order to continue to perform at the level that this team had last season, they cannot afford to swing for a long time and not work actively. Time must not be missed. With each race, the chances of firmly gaining a foothold in the top three or even in 1-2 place are decreasing. I am glad that the team understands this very well and has already taken the first step in Miami.
It will be very interesting to see what surprises we can expect from Mercedes in Barcelona.

Surprised to see Albon take 10th place

Actually Albon ended up on 9th after Alonso got one more 5 sec penalty, getting moved down to 11th place. So it's 2 point for him this time, yay Smiley
See: Alonso loses points, Albon and Stroll promoted

Great race out in Florida as everybody thought it was going to be a red Ferrari day after the qualifying on Saturday ended.

Glad red bull showed they aren't giving up and laying down. What a fight by Verstappen early on in the race to get first on lap 9 and hold on to it throughout the entire race.

Surprised to see Albon take 10th place but poor Lando got took out early with that crash which to me wasn't his fault.
Bottas showed he can still battle with the best.
So good to see he is getting on well with his new team at Alfa Romeo.

Leclerc kinda had his chance for getting back on top after Lando's car got thrashed. He has missed it. Too bad.
In the same restart Perez was soooo close to take over Sainz.. yet he didn't.

Albon got points again. Nice.
Haas were sooo close to points...
Alfa Romeo keeps going impressingly well this year, especially with Bottas at the wheel.

McLaren and AlphaTauri were a disappointment, especially after good looking practice and qualifying.

Nice race overall, although the middle of it was more interesting around place 10 than at the top. The end has become better for the viewers, not for Lando though.

Well done to casper, who seems to be keen on being ahead in all our pools. Verstappen, yes, glad I kept faith in him. Was a nice win AND fastest lap in the latter stages to cut the gap to LeClerc by another 8 points. Think the Monacan (is that even right?) will feel the pressure for a bit but he'll pull through again and cut that down. Just needs to have patience to see it out.

Dutchman seemed to think Miami was a letdown though, and seems to have people agreeing from McLaren. Anyone who watched agree?

Ferrari captured a really big advantage by taking the first two places before the race. Leclerc is still maintaining his superiority over his teammate Sainz in this year. Even though Mercedes are much better than the previous weeks, especially Russell's performance after the practice sessions was a big disappointment for me.

It's still not clear if it's going to rain or not.Huh
Weather doesn't seem to be factor - 24% rain and 34% for the race:

The new track looks beautiful:

They had what looked like a Pitbull concert for the drivers and introduction to the marina themed track:
