Bearman was impressive during the race. He attracted Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu's attention quite much by this performance as well. For now he is competing in F2 maybe but he is getting more likely to join F1 next season day by day. There have already been news on the internet like Haas is planning to sign him.  Smiley

Both of Magnussen and Hulkenberg's contracts are going to end by the end of this season. If one of the replacements is Bearman then I wonder who the other one will be. Bearman is only 18 years old as well. I believe he is the future of Ferrari too if he continues to perform ambitiously.  Smiley

You were correct!
Bearman did very decent work at his first F1 GP because he was plucked out of F2 to fill in for the Ferrari team.
He did such a smashing job that Haas were eyeing him as a prospect for next season, according to some reports.

Since there wasn't much else to talk about for the outcome of this race because Verstappen made it another notch in the winning streak from last season, we have Oliver to take all F1 fans attention.
He did impress Lewis Hamilton and being the first British driver since forever to drive a scuderia he took that away from the Brit for next season:

Verstappen's pole position was no surprise surely.  Grin  Even Perez couldn't match Verstappen's best lap time despite having one of the fastest cars on the track.

While there are only a few hours left for the race what is your thinking about the rivalry between Leclerc and Perez in the race? Who would finish ahead? I think Perez will do this once again even if Leclerc has a smooth race. In addition Sainz won't be able to race because of undergoing an appendicitis surgery. Oliver Bearman is starting in 11th place to the race in Sainz's seat. I think he has done a quite decent work so far.  Smiley

Odds for Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is even lower.
After qualification and Verstappen getting pole position the odds were 1.16x
Now they have lowered all the way down to 1.12x

It really doesn't make sense to bet on Verstappen in the circumstances. Maybe he wins nearly every single race but sometimes we see a different winner too. It wouldn't be nice to run into such race.  Grin

While Verstappen has 1.15 odds it is 8.00 for his closest opponent who is Leclerc.  The gap is just huge even for the start of the season. But any of us surprised with that? I don't think so.

Perez is given 25.00 odds for the win... Still he is in a really bad condition. He is just not the right driver for the seat anymore and Red Bull boss must be also aware of that. I know I'm prejudiced as the season is starting new. But after seeing this performance in qualifying I just can't see any difference with the previous season.

Red Bull overlook this for now because of Verstappen's single-handedly carrying the team but at some point Perez would be shown the door.

Verstappen got pole as usual,
Meanwhile he has basically given an ultimatum that if marko helmut is let go , he will also leave red bull

That is interesting since there were news swirling that Toto was proposing towards Max so to fill in where Lewis left a slot as the lead driver.

Saudi Arabian GP starting in about 3 hours from now so place a guaranteed bet on another Max Win?

Saudi Arabian race last season might cost the FIA president for taking Russell's spot on the podium last year and given to Alonso instead.
Recall the penalty given to Aston Martin for touching their car while in the pit while serving a penalty prior to the start of the formation lap for not positioning their car in the start box?
Well avoiding to go by their own rules triggered a huge investigation into the FIA and those involved in this incident including the vice president of a Saudi nation.

Ferrari did look competitive going into the race in Bahrain but once again they had technical issues with the car.
Mercedes were fast coming out but then fell off as you seen with Russell in 4 place for several laps at the start. George finishing 5th and Hamilton ended up in 7th place which was quite a poor performance at the start of a season from his standards.

Hamilton had better be prepared to have this kind of problems more at Ferrari.  Tongue  Because I don't think that these problems will be gone magically unless Vasseur makes big chances in the team.

Maybe it is time for Ferrari to stop making Italian engineers priority to sign. Because obviously this policy of them doesn't go well at all. As Vasseur is French maybe he could be the one who starts making this kind of a change. When it comes to Mercedes I think they will get better in time. I don't know about Hamilton after his stating his decision to go to Ferrari quite early. But Russell can be quite competitive this season.  Smiley

After watching P1 Matt&Tommy's latest podcast on this first race of the season, they basically said it was going to be another season where Max is going to dominate if he finished 22.45secs over his own teammate. Red Bull pretty much has the championship locked from what was seen right from the start.
If that doesn't sound like a complete snoozefest for the fans, then I don't know what would otherwise.
Their thumbnail of the video doesn't inspire either: "Is the F1 in trouble?"

F1 has become a domination sport unfortunately. It has been like this for so many years. It was Hamilton in the past and now he changed roles with Verstappen. I'm wondering if there is really nothing to do about balancing the teams more by adding new regulations in the future. There will be some significant changes to come by 2026 season. However this doesn't mean we won't see any highly dominant team for now.

I know it is a budget thing at the same time. Not every team has the same amount of money to develop the car on even ground. But I hope someday there would be a thing to do about increasing the competition level more for the championship.
This is a highly unfortunate situation for F1 to be in if just one team is so very dominant over the others race in and race out.
It doesn't give much entertainment to the viewers while the sport was breaking through to the US markets in recent years. But the American audiences don't like an outcome of a race to be known even before the final flag is swung. That is not very thrilling.

We will see it this season. For sure if Perez somehow made some points, he might be retained but if not, I think Ricciardo might be at the door at the half of the season. We'll never know until we see it. I hope that we are entertained with the season now and it's not just pure red bull, you know?
I hope that it won't be just Red Bull winning all the races this season. But considering the first race results I have big worries about that.

Verstappen was like the usual. Even against his teammate he was too comfortable on taking the win in Bahrain. I wish Leclerc didn't have front tyre locking issue at the first times of the race. He could have made the race for podium much more exciting. I don't know how Ferrari managed to give Leclerc a worse car than Sainz's for this race.

The radio wars between Leclerc and Xavi still go on from where it left!

As with Leclerc's front tyre lock ups, I did remember seeing smoke coming from the front of the Ferrari when coming out of the turn. So it must of happened more than once when I noticed it.
This problem would need to be addressed before the next race for him to get ahead of Sainz. If they want to even be a problem to Max in the next race.
Which at this point is hard to see how.

@FanEagle
If Verstappen wasn't even pushing the car's limits then at what point would he even be challenged?
Or how about his own limits?
Because over the radio, he didn't seem to have any issues in this race.
It was funny to see him taking a pitstop and even his own teammate couldn't even get past him he was out so far ahead. There wasn't any other cars to be seen on the track when he got out of the pit lane.
I believe the announcers even mentioned about the rule of unlapping when he was passing the other drivers in the end. Just to have some banter and basically having a joke at the rule at his point.

I mean looking at how the Bahrain race ended, I could say that Max didn't even push it to the limits, he just let the race win come to him after a while. That dude had over 5 second difference at lap 7 for Christ sake, that puts him at around 0.7 seconds and that's just the start, he could have done 40+ second difference to his closest which would end up being Perez, maybe even more. Imagine being so fast that nobody is near half a minute to you, that dude could have stopped, lit up a cigarette, take a puff, get back in the car and raced and still would have won.

At this stage, betting on Max to win and betting on Max to finish the race is the same thing, if he finishes the race, he will be the winner, as simple as that. Might be boring, but we have seen 8 years of Mercedes do the same, so it is not really a new thing at formula 1 that someone goes dominant.

Almost an hour away from the main race to start and the odds for Verstappen haven't changed at all.

Bookies are confident that he will win the premiere race of the season by a wide margin as you mentioned from the next best driver on the grid in Leclerc.
Here are he markets on all drivers with a little time left before the race in Bahrain:

https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/formula-1/formula-1/bahrain-grand-prix-2024-race/bahrain-grand-prix-2024-race-659fae9e7c9c24000119ee75

For those who are betting maybe would have better odds on taking the fastest lap winner for Verstappen:

As the announcer said just before the beginning of airing for the introduction to this season's race:
"Can anybody get ahead of Max Verstoppen?!"

As for Perez, just as long Max is the first driver he is his wingman and if Red Bull is winning every race then I can't see why they would be mad about that.

As was seen right from their testing days back Red bull have the machine this season to keep winning and the other teams haven't figured out how to beat Max yet.
The qualifying sessions showed Mercedes as struggling same as last season and the Ferraris are once again just out of reach of the Red Bull car they have modified to Verstappen to pick up from last season.

All markets are pointing for another Max Win with the oddmakers prior to qualifying closing @1.35x and post is @1.16x

Get ready for an F1 race in Bahrain early Saturday morning.

I think we might actually have a close season of F1 because after 1st session of qualifying , we can see that RedBull is not so much in front of the others and that's why I expect to see a close title battle this year even if it looks clearly that Max has a superior car and only his mistakes could make him lose this title.

Overall , I could see McLaren already struggling and it seems that this car was made once again for Norris and once again he let us down but on the other side , Piastri is still consistent and motivated and I don't think Norris will win this year against Piastri at points. I could also see that Ferrari finally looks like a solid team , great team radio and hopefully they will have a solid race strategy as well. I'm also happy for Aston Martin and Alonso who looks by far the most improved car this year with potential of achieving at least 4 podiums this year.  For Mercedes I can't really tell because they were almost out of Q3 so I can't trust this car yet. First race is on first week of March so just over 9 days away which doesn't that long to wait.
In the meantime you can watch the new season for it beginning tomorrow's release date of the 23rd:
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/netflix-announces-drive-to-survive-season-six-launch-date/10568817

Watching some of the driver's reactions from the testing sessions yesterday, the most surprising one to hear was Leclerc's talking about Hamilton and how he would happy to race along side with him.

Still questioning why they decided to make this move public before this season even began.
It just makes it so very weird to know a driver is splitting from a team they have been the face of for so long while they will be racing for them during the upcoming season.
I'm also surprised to hear Leclerc's thoughts on racing with Hamilton side by side. Actually I knew they had a good friendship so far. But as each one of them is one of the most skilled drivers on the grid I thought Leclerc would prefer less competition against himself. Ferrari don't have a system of hierarchy about their drivers so it would be interesting to watch the competition between them.

Yes, It was really unexpected to hear Hamilton's deciding to join Ferrari in 2025 already now. I think it could have been better to state it officially by the end of this season.
These two's dynamic will be quite different than what Max and Perez have at Red Bull. Where Checo knows he is the second driver and will let Max pass without any competing for first.
But as you had mentioned, I can see both these drivers not letting the other overtake.
That is just not in their nature. They have always been lead drivers at this time in their careers for the teams they have been with.
So it will make for an interesting time to see when they are both racing for the same team.

Watched a couple more episodes of Drive to Survive and it isn't as good as the very first season was.
But there are parts in it where you can see they are eluding to Lewis making the move to Ferrari.
