Just my suggestion on how to get it going.
It would be kind of fun while waiting for the next race to start and for the second half to begin again.

I think Mercedes if they think they can fight for the tittle need to make a lot of 1-2 in the reamaining races, and that its not easy, also needs to RB not score so much points.

During the extended break they allow Mercedes to make such extreme changes to their cars form?
Wouldn't this be risky to a team to have them adjust their driving styles for these changes in a middle of a season?
If these rear wing and ground effects tweaks are happening, then that only means they believe they still have a chance at the title.

How long did he extend it for? With drivers I would see them taking a 3-4 year contract at a time so the teams can lock them in and not be offered a better contract from another team.
But I agree with you on Lewis and once he wins that title he will probably contemplate on retiring with going out a champion and not just fade away like most drivers do.
Going out on a high note is a nice way to leave your sport and not many have the opportunity to do it on their own terms.

Until 50 ? Hmm...they won't let him drive by that age even if he wants it but I do see him driving more than Alonso as he is currently 41 and I think Lewis will race until 44 as that should complete his running in F1. Also the numbers are playing a very important role in F1 drivers careers. I also do believe that Max his change his nr 1 driver as soon as he will lose his first championship after winning one.

Now , the question is , will Alonso drive more than 43 years old ? Because signing with Aston Martin clearly will catch him in his 43th but will he drive more ? If he has a great car he might keep pushing as long as his body will allow it.

Was curious with the age of the oldest driver to drive in an F1 and was surprised it was 58 years old.
Done by Louis Chiron but to actually win a race it was Luigi Fagioli at 53.
Back in 1951 for the French Grand prix so you know the drivers were probably less impacted with all the stress that the drivers now have to contend with.

It is not about talking about it loudly. We all know that managing team requires to think (maybe even focus on it) about future, not here-and-now. It was always strange for me that transfers were announced almost in the middle of season, it was weird to "I do my best here, even if I already signed contract to work for my current-opponent".
The same with car - season starts so we should think about building car for the next season, of course no team builds car in a few winter weeks.
That's why I am pretty sure they have drivers they observe, maybe from F2, maybe even from other leagues. At the end it is not very different than situation in football - you have 10000 boys kicking the ball, some of them will join sport club in their district, maybe some of them will be talented more than others, some will work harder than others, some will find better manager than others... maybe 1 will make a (inter)national career.

I don't think he will go that far though but retirement is just a fancy word that they could get back on. Look at Alonso, he should be retired but went back at it again. So we will never know right now but I think Lewis is still gearing up for that 8th championship, maybe.

Also the idea that he would have 8 is a long gone thing right now if you ask me. Is it still possible? Of course, but right now he is not only fighting with Max, but fighting against 2 other teams that have better cars and a great new driver that is trying to beat him at all times. Meaning he has to face 5 other people instead of just 1 this time around. This year is already gone, he won't be champion at all this year, that's for sure. And next year?

I do not think that other teams would suddenly start to be a horrible one, which leaves us with Lewis ending up fighting for it again on not the best car. He has never won a title without the best car under him, doubt he will do it at this age.

Because imagine, he will overtake Michael Schumacher with the times he has been the champion, and he will be the G.O.A.T of F1. He still has a lot of fuel left to win a championship. Maybe not now, but we will see. I hope he does his best, though.

I think Lewis will be here for the next 3-4 years. Why ? Simply because he won't let Alonso compete longer than him. It's his main rival and he always will be not Vettel or Rosberg or Max. Will he go to weaker car ? I doubt it but I do see him trying to make a comeback for McLaren or if Toto leaves for Aston Martin , I could see him go there as well. We are heading towards exciting years of racing in F1 when teams and drivers are chancing pilots or engine suppliers very quick.
