Yeah it is half way thru the season and they are break for the rest of the summer that is left until end of August.
Three week hiatus seems like a very long time to wait until the next race. But Red bull are going into comfortably infront of the rest of the pack.
Ferrari as Leclerc has said have been making questionable calls when it comes to his car.
Tyre changes cost him this race and everybody can see that.

Due to the start of the football season, this break will pass very quickly (at least for me). I even missed the last race completely because I was distracted by football. As for the results, I can say that they are very sad, since the intrigue dies very quickly and it is no longer clear what should happen to revive it. Ferrari surprises - sometimes technical problems, sometimes miscalculations of the team, sometimes just a unluck, but something negative happens to them all the time. I wonder if there is a chance that this black bar will end?

With the current happenings, it seems that Ferrari wouldn't do anything or sees no need for F1 changes said Mattia Binotto.[1]

Even Leclerc isn't happy with the strategies that they have and he is baffled that he was supposed to be leading. I do hope Ferrari would have a great comeback when Summer break ends.

That's the point but Binotto doesn't see anything wrong. He is probably just saving his ass or the strategist's ass for that matter.

There is no point in guessing, but it is clear that two teams (Ferrari and Mercedes) need improvements very badly.
I mean it's fun to speculate then see who is going to be right on the next GP. The next race would take some time. August 28 right? I can't wait.

Especially Ferrari - at the beginning of the season it seemed that their time had come, then they would fight with Red Bull for the championship, and now it turns out that they are much closer to Mercedes (which fails the season) than to Red Bull.
They really looked strong at the beginning of the season. It's now with the wrong strategists and possible miscommunications that had them failing now. I think Charles and Carlos is frustrated with that as well.

Which teams would you think to have the most significant changes with the oncoming break?

I think Mercedes has been consistent and going so far with the improvements from the previous race in the season. So maybe they would have time to train and improve on what they have done right with the earlier races.

Mercedes has almost recovered all the disadvantages it had at the beginning of the championship.
On the contrary, I believe that with the new rules that will probably be introduced by SPA, Mercedes can become the car to beat.

It is unlikely that they can recover for the world championship even if mathematically it is still feasible.
By the looks of how ferrari is managed, there is no doubt that Mercedes will finish second this year, would be the first year they finish second after so many years, but it would be better than the third they were expected to be, and even lower if you compare how they were at the start of the season (bottas literally out qualifying russell type of moves).

This isn't a say on Mercedes though, sure they got better but we also have to remember that Ferrari probably has the best car out there this year, and they have made so many mistakes that they are literally causing themselves to lose, so if they finish third again, this would not be about cars anymore, it would be about the pit wall making huge mistakes.

Of course, I would like to continue to believe in a miracle, but in my opinion Mercedes lost too much in the first half of the championship to even mathematically try to claim the personal title of the winner of Formula 1. It's also hard to believe, but I would still like Ferrari to be able to impose at least some kind of struggle on Verstappen, but the team, having a car that is not only not inferior, but also surpasses the Red Bull car in some ways, still manages to lose points where it is quite difficult to do. However, if Mercedes had become totally dominant in the second half of the season, then maybe it would have been able to confuse the cards of Red Bull to some extent and maybe thanks to this Leclerc would have been able to return to the fight for the title. But for this, Verstappen's descent from the track in several races is needed, or at least a finish outside the points zone and at the same time a set of maximum points by Leclerc. It sounds fantastic enough, but Leclerc has had similar "feats" this season. Why wouldn't something like this happen now with Verstappen?

Really good race, as i said in other thread.

Russel impressive keeping the Ferraris behind him, Mercedes like always playing all his cards in perfect form. With a "slower" car fighting with all the cars.

As we see yesterday, we didnt expected Mercedes to take pole, and today nobody expected this Red Bull recovery. RB and Max was in super shape.

Ferrari i have no more words to this team. They are a piece of shit with history, that its the definition of Ferrari last 10 years. You cant do all the things bad.

I really don't know what to say about Ferrari anymore. I've watched this race with my dad after a long time and it was such an awful race to watch as a Ferrari fan. I still can't believe that Ferrari hired those strategists and I also cannot believe Binnotto will make it to next race. In Italy right now , as I'm writing my message , the fans simply went wild and are demanding to some people to simply quit Ferrari and leave the time and this time it will happen.

Regarding race ...I don't know ...because I simply don't care anymore of who is winning as long as we see shady stuff happening with Ferrari team. Max should win every race from now on and even more , he should punish Ferrari whenever he can and send them a powerful message that it's useless to have the better car and a great driver if you don't have the team to fully back up you in every race and in every situation.

So true!

Hungarian GP always had some big upsets in the F1 history and yesterday was no different. And yes, I wonder the same : What will today race bring to us ? I know it has to be something unique and out of picture. Maybe Verstappen making a huge comeback and finish on podium ? Maybe Ocon makes it again on Podium after last year race win ? All of them could happen to be honest and I'm really excited about this coming race.

Russell at pole was not in the script but then again, the hungarian track is up for grabs by anyone who really wants it.
I doubt anyone took him the pool prediction to be in pole position for Sunday's race.
He won't be able to hold the spot and I can see either Leclerc or Hamilton taking the race tomorrow.
Since Red Bull are in disarray with technical issues during qualifying and Verstappen had been vocal about this after what happened today.
Ferrari and Mercedes cars are just too strong to count either of their top drivers out of this one.
All this should make for a thrilling race!

Russel took that pole out of nowhere and literally shocked everyone , including Toto Wolff. I think that pole was possible just because of Russel pure talent and a little bit of help from temperature around the track as those were the perfect conditions for Mercedes to have great pace. Tomorrow should be an epic race , I can feel it.

There is still the practice 3 to take place in about an hour then on to qualifying.

Leclerc is still the favorite but Sainz is second which the odds makers are liking Ferrari's chances at taking the podium.

Here is a rundown on what the timetable is looking like for this weekend's race starts:

Totally forgot Ocon won this race last season.

We are a few hours away until qualifiers begin and there are the odds for top 3 :

Question , why does Sainz have 1.4 odds ? That is a lot in my opinion after what he showed us in Fp1 yesterday. Also , why does Nando have 4 and the 4th chance ? Perez can always pull a top 3 or a pole out of nowhere and McLaren never had a great pace when it came to qualifiers. Anyway , this should be entertaining to watch.

Well well, well.... can i say, we have the most random FP in the whole season yet?

Ten drivers in 1 second, lando Norris second and McLaren being the Mercedes? Really good FP for the british team , and driver.

Mercedes not fiting well, Perez keep strugling, i cant wait to see tomorrow Qualy.
I think it is basically just about how they didn't even wanted to have a decent car out for Mercedes. I cannot talk about how Mclaren suddenly became good, because it is not something I have any clue about, it was a shock to me as well.

But, Mercedes was too obvious, they are still trying to figure out what went wrong with their car so far, and they are trying to improve it and for the past decade they have been domination (give or take a decade, a bit lesser) and they trust their engineers to find the problem and that means making tryouts. Sometimes it works and they became better and have a double podium, sometimes it doesn't work and they barely stay in top 10, maybe it is that week in Hungary.

Sainz took the first practice from Max by a small margin. Leclerc came in third.
This is getting good on this track as I think it levels out the playing field some what.
