I'm surprised that Russell, after free practice, still lost qualification to Hamilton. However, they will both be behind the leaders, so the race can change everything. Pretty interesting bookmaker quotes in my opinion:

Verstappen, Max - 1.66
Leclerc, Charles - 4.75
Sainz Jr., Carlos - 5.35
Hamilton, Lewis - 12.60
Perez, Sergio - 18.60
Russell, George - 29.60

Ferrari despite winning the qualification is greatly underestimated.

Leclerc has been saying this every race he has not won that his car doesn't feel right to him. So about four races now.
This is what drivers say when they underperform in any race they are in so to put the blame on a mechanical issue and not themselves.
Or the team will just find another driver for next season.
Practice 3 is starting right now!
Qualifying is in a couple of hours from now according to sky sports on my cable box guide.

I listened to his interview, and according to him, they didn't have the best car to fight for the first position in their last three games. Well since he has admitted that they now have a good car now to go for the win and that they will go for the win my expectations are quite high. In my mind he is starting on a blank slate. This is going to different from Barcelona and Miami. I hope we're not going to hear any complaints again.

Nothing new then right? We all knew this from the beginning and the drivers have been saying it. At the same time I do not really like people to keep blaming everything else other than themselves. We get it,,, but if the engines and cars really were not worthy of the race, then we would not be allowed to use them right?

So I kind of agree with rdbase here. Say it once should be enough but keep using it as excuse is not good for the entire team too.

Glad to see he now admits they have a good car! Forget the past and go win some things!!

Yea , I'm really thinking to take Sainz as a winner today as he still has 5 odds and he is still yet to win a race. Could Silverstone become his 1st win ? Well , Alonso did a pole back in 2012 with Ferrari here but he didn't manage to win the race as Webber took the W and last time a spanish driver won SIlverstone is still Alonso back in 2006.

Now if we look back on Practice 3 , Ferrari team kept Sainz to box in the last 15 minutes of the practice which was not cool for those who had a bet on Sainz top 3 as he had plenty of time for a new lap and then quali time and he goes for pole out of nowhere in complete different situation at it was clear sky in Practice 2 and full rain in Qualifiers so I don't know if Ferrari really wants Sainz to win today...but we shall see in the 1st pitstop if he manages to keep his 1st position after race start.

You guys really think Ferrari has a chance here ? Leclerc has just said that his car doesn't feel great and he doesn't hope for a pole fight but Sainz said that his car has the best pace out there and he can fight for pole today. Now , I'm thinking to take Sainz as a pole winner as the odds are more than attractive but the best odd is still on Leclerc side.

Man I SAW that too, the odds making LeClerc a favourite for pole, but stuck to my choice to put Verstappen on it, thinking I was smart and wham bam, Sainz it was. Didn't know too much about the race beforehand, but shoulda listened to the itch to back the 3rd fav guy.

I'm sorry Rdbase but Leclerc has never under performed in the last 3 races and he has been on top on his shape but the car isn't there so this has nothing to do with Leclerc as he is still in a championship mind state and this is great as it will keep him focus. The only thing that under performed in the last races is the engine , gear box and the floor of Ferrari. After they changed 2 of those , Ferrari is still not near RedBull and furthermore , Mercedes are almost equal in power to Ferrari.

Agree, LeClerc did all he could (sure, mistakes like everyone else but can't say he could have done more especially in those DNFs). Did all the other teams using Ferrari engines also change though or are they sticking to what they got?

Once again, Charles can do whatever he wants on Saturdays, be at the top, or be at the botom and it doesn't matter. What Charles need to understand is that what you do on Sunday is the one that matters, even though there are some sprint races on Saturdays these days, we need to realize that Sundays are the real point makers. Race pace is very important, Bottas was known to be super fast on Saturdays as well, but we know how much he won, and Russell was always great and fast at Williams too, and never won.

So, unless you show some real race pace on Sunday, you are going to be quite unhappy with what you have and that is going to end up giving the title to Max early on before the last races.

We are currently in Practice 3 and Max is leading Lec   ...so I think Leclerc is right about Ferrari car being slower than RedBull and on Silverstone the different of speed avg between RedBull and Ferrari is about 5km/h.

Silverstone GP comes first among the races I like the most in the calendar together with Baku GP. As Silverstone track has various different turn types it helps drivers bring out their talents a little more. As fast turns and straights overwhelm on Silverstone track generally we can see the tyres wearing out quick. When we look at the general condition now I see Red Bull as a little more advantageous.

Didn't know that about Silverstone, I wonder if it has anything to do with tyres branded Silverstone when I grew up, said they had the best wear resistance (forgive my n00b comments, heh).

Almost forgot about predictions here, nice that Superbru just sent reminders. I put all British drivers in 4/5/6 position, too much for Hamilton podium though methinks?

Yes i have read some news. Mercedes brings a new front wing much lighter. And claims they are in better shape, lets see if finally its true.
Yeah it seems that Mercedes has upgrades on their body to make it more aerodynamically sound.
Red Bull are the ones to make upgrades to their engine.

Let's see who's strategy plays out best on the british track. We will see on practice races then if they don't work still can make small changes to those plans.

Hamilton won it last year but things have changed with the cars since then.
There are alot of articles saying their silver arrow have some surprises in store for this weekend race.

Love seeing these type of fanfare for British race car enthusiasts.

Red bull aren't coming to the table empty handed it and are ready for the challenge:

One thing is certain and this race won't be a boring one.

Quite quickly, the race leaders reacted to the pilots' complaints about dolphining. Now adopted a directive to limit the vertical acceleration of the machine. They will now be measured during qualifying and then they may or may not be allowed to race.
Experts note that teams will suffer the most. Mercedes and Ferrari.

I also liked the statement of one of the racers who compared the process of dolphining to being hits on his head as if it were a basketball bouncing off the floor. Smiley
Yes, they compared this motion to a football player taking a blow to their head several times but through out the course of the race.
But this is up to the sport to decide on what must be done to ratify this issue since it does seem detrimental to the drivers.
To understand the claims of the racers, you can really go up to the wall yourself and bang your head against the wall at intervals of a second.  So about twenty times.  It is clear that this can not be tolerated for long.  Add more stress on the spine and intervertebral discs.  And you will understand why racers do not want to become disabled at 30 years old.  And then walk on crutches.
I support the fight against dolphining in every possible way.
And even if the cars will withdraw from the race.

Can not wait for racing to be on again as this wait had been longer than I thought.
There had been a void this weekend without it for most including myself.

Red Bull ring is Max's playground so it will be very hard for Mercedes to make up ground on that track.
Silverstone is were Lewis shines so they will grab the points on this track forsure.

Yes but we have ahead two beautifull tracks, Silverstone and the RedBull Ring. Lets see if Mercedes really makes finally the step ahead.

For all of those hate Mercedes, also needs Mercedes going back if you dont want a RedBull dominance and a boring season till the end of tghe year, because we see Ferrari cant compete at this level against Red Bull.

But with a 3 band competition the mistake can increase and all can have fun and a chance to win.

This weekend there is no race happening so a very sad one for all the gearheads in us.
It does return for the first week in July in Great Britain where surprisingly Mercedes are not the favorite to win with neither Russell nor Hamilton.
I know another week or so to go and by telling the odds of 15x for Lewis to win on his home track are rather high.
