I watched the game highlights so I can't make a clear review of the game but from what I have seen in the highlights of the game it is obvious that USA team is not playing as a team. They are great individual players and lets be honest we all know Patty he is not normally this great, he was in his game at the end there however as long as USA keeps playing as individual talented players instead of a one united team they will not be doing much this cup.

However, do not forget that they are coached by Pop so it wouldn't be weird if he managed to turn this team into a Spurs like family organization in a week and manage to make them play in his system. I know it looks impossible but so is winning 5 championship in 20 years in a place like NBA, I wouldn't expect any less from him.

This was a problem for USA almost always.
I remember that happening in the 2006 world cup, when the USA was the favorite for the title and they lost against Greece because they didn't play as a team. I think the same is going to happen again and Serbia will win the title.

The odds for USA to win outright are 1.55 at the moment. Looks like an easy pick, but I am reading several opinions that players won't have the same motivation as the underdogs (Greece. Australia, etc).

May bet on rugby instead, world cup coming soon, backing New Zealand @ 2.40.

New Zealand has only around 50% chances of winning the rugby world cup, so those odds are justified. You have some very good teams out there, who are capable of beating NZ, such as South Africa, England and Ireland. On the other hand, I would give the United States 80% to 90% chance of winning the FIBA world cup, and there is no team as such who can give a good fight against them.

US dominates the basketball scene. Even many of the teams participating in the FIBA world cup have naturalized players who are originally from the US. Before their loss to Australia yesterday, they were on a record 78 match winning streak, which is unheard of in any other sport. BTW, I don't know what happened in their match against Oz. It is difficult to believe that someone could beat the US.

Greece won 92-65 vs Jordan - not a real test though and easy game, just a training session actually. Papapetrou, Papagiannis and Printezis looked good.

This will be a good win for Greece before the start of the world cup. Although the game was an easy win for Greece but the main point is to have a win under your belt.

Glimpse of the upcoming World cup thophy.

what amazed me is their court

The same way NCAA does their Final 4 tournament with its court being lifted up off the ground. I'm not sure I like it, certainly not the darkened stands/crowd thing. What I also didn't like was the position of the main broadcast camera, way too low and with a smaller FIBA court it's horrible, you can't properly see passing lanes and shit.

I don't know if that will be the same court in China

Zero chance, I think it won't meet the FIBA court/facility standards and regulations.

Earlier Japan did beat Germany, was it an upset?
I guess not, maybe Germany will show what they got when real plays go. I guess the home-court advantage of Japan has an impact over the game, that wasn't an upset for me, they have a great roster by now and some are active average NBA players so far they will still be lethal.

By the way, just seen the game of the USA vs. Australia and what amazed me is their court, I don't know if that will be the same court in China but Marvel Stadium is really so awesome to see.

By the way, Greece just about to start vs Jordan - stream link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lai2m_M3b0I
It will be another slaughter by a European team to a team from Asia. "No Mas" but i did bet on the final score though, under 170.5.

When we "owned" them, they werent a "B-Team"... As said, they had Bosh, Wade and almost all of their big stars back in the day.

I couldn't watch the game today but damn Patty Mills with 30pts.  Shocked

He was great, especially in the decisive momenths in 4th quarter when he made some important three pointers.
Despite this loss, USA still remains to be favorites, but such matches shows how vulnerable they are. One more exhibition match for US left, it's interesting how they will rract to this loss. But Canada shouldn't be a difficult opponent.

Last night game I saw something that I didnt see more then 10 years.

I actually recall that game very well, it was against Greece (semi-finals) in '06, with USAB having a pretty decent roster, not like now. They had all the banana-boat crew + Dwight + Joe Johnson + Bosh. That speaks volumes about how good the Greek team was with Spanoulis and Diamantidis.

I missed something earlier and it came to my attention just now. In the second round, it looks like Spain and Serbia will be placed in the same group. I expect Serbia to top the group and this means that Spain may end up playing against the United States during the semi-finals. Greece will have the misfortune of being placed along with United States in the second round.

My prediction for QF is as follows:

QF1: Russia vs Spain
QF2: USA vs France
QF3: Serbia vs China
QF4: Greece vs Australia

Philippines upsetting Serbia would be alright, LOL... Odds for the Philippines should be around x50 if they'll play with Serbia.

Complete schedule here https://www.teampilipinas.info/2019/03/fiba-basketball-world-cup-2019-schedule.html

Philippines will face Serbia in Sept 2, that should be a good game, lol.

USA is not bringing college players to the cup, they are still legit NBA players. We are talking about kemba walker, jaylen brown, tatum, kuzma, myles, harris, brook, middleton and any other I might be missing right now. If you brought these players to any league in the world they would destroy it, hell I remember an old and retiring Allen Iverson wrecking havoc in Turkey, same with Deron Williams as well.

Has USA lost a cup before? Sure they have, that is always been a possibility even with the dream team, even spain gave USA dream team with Kobe and wade and melo and lebron a run for their money, that is literally the best team that could have been organized and they were still going close in points.

Hence, there is a chance that USA of course could lose but that won't be because the team is not good, team is awesome and they are by far the best roster in the league and its not even close, all other teams may have 1-2 NBA players, some may have very good nba player like giannis or jokic but those are just ONE, whereas USA has a lot of amazing players.

Serbia is  Serbia +350, meaning if you bet 1000 usd for serbia, you will get 2500 as your winning, that's a good odds right?
Those are good odds actually.

The US team has almost achieved a superhuman status and it is difficult to imagine any other team being capable of giving them a run for their money, much less defeating them.
Those were in the past. Let's focus on the current roster. They are very much beatable as compared to previous US teams. I have no doubt that coach Pop will try to bring the best out of these young team but they'll still fall short when they face teams like Serbia.
