I did, except for a decent 5-6min stretch in the 3rd quarter the US had a pretty mediocre game especially on defense.
True! They created good defense to create better offense.

They also had a different lineup opposed to the game vs. Spain, with only Kemba and Spida returning to the starting lineup.

These two teams play again on Saturday, I'm pretty sure game will be streamed live again on twitch if anyone wants to watch it :

What else is new? Team USA will just dominate this again. Giannis with the Bucks can't win the championship in the NBA. And his team mates in Greece won't be better than the Bucks. Unless USA won't have their top 5 players on board. KD and Klay are injured. Curry won't probably play. Leonard, PG and Irving will be busy creating chemistry with their new teams.   Cheesy
You think Popovich is that dumb not to pick good players? This roster of USA for this FIBA 2019 is massive and I know they can ball and penetrate in and out of the court. If there are team that can go head to head with them that's for sure Serbia again or perhaps Spain.
Serbia could be the team that could beat the US. With almost all players playing in the best league in this world which is the NBA, it actually gives them a boost of confidence to take over even USA.

Anyway, have you seen the exhibition game between USA and Australia? Australia have players that have something to prove to in the world cup, but this was a blowout game. 102-86 is the final score. Kemba helped the team to defeat Australia with 23 pts and 6 rebs.

That's now depends on how the coach will work with what he got, team US still have the pride to protect from this tournament and for sure even without that much of superstars they will still push it forward to keep the chance winning again the title, there's competitive teams who also composed by good players, it's gonna be a challenging tournament for team US.

I think Popovich is the strongest part of this US team. He is with Phil Jackson the best NBA coach in the last 25-30 years, and he has tremendous experience.Another important thing is that his team (Spurs) always played team basketball, someone would even say European kind of basketball  so i have no doubts that he will get the best from the players he got, there is no better coach for that task at the moment in the world.

Hmm, looking at that 2.05 odds for China to top group A, there are two other scrub teams and Poland. Should I pull the trigger?
With the crowd behind China and the motivation of playing in front of the home crowd is just very tempting to pull that trigger Smiley.

We just have to monitor the roster if there are injuries to their players and maybe bet days before tip-off.

I will also going to bet for China.
Personally, I don't think that Poland has a stronger team than China, and cosidering the fact that China is playing at home this bet is totally worth it.

They may in their bracket but not in the overall competition.
China has +50000 betting odds, that's a jackpot if they'll win this competition, if you are a gambler, I challenge you to take it just for fun, hehe.
We are talking only in their bracket here as only Poland and China had the upper hand on winning the 1st spot but on the over-all i won't waste a dime on betting on China even if it is just for fun  Smiley. This year's FIBA World Cup would be won by either US, Greece and Serbia IMO.

Dont underrate Greece man - I dont think that Spain is stronger than us this year... Yes, after the friendly loss vs Serbia we went down in the FIBA Power Rankings to 5th place but thats not correct... Cheesy Sloukas will most likely be able to participate, he is on a good way and a great player.

I really didn't see Greece games recently, maybe besides some videos with Giannis' block parties, so could you tell me is this team something more than The Freak himself? The MVP is really great and versatile but are this his colleagues at least decent? What can we expect from this team?

And as for the outrights: normally I wouldn't bet on another scenario than the USA winning the tournament, though let's look at the squad of Gregg Popovich's side. Are there any real superstars? Kemba is great, Khris Middleton was great in last season, Mitchell Donovan, Jayson Tatum and Kyle Kuzma probably will be the greats but does this team blow minds? No, absolutely not. One NBA champion (Harrison Barnes), three All-Stars (Walker, Middleton and Brook Lopez) and that's that.

If you look closely and analyze the team, it does have the deepness and it's a really interesting mix of practically everything (3pointers, defense, athleticism, pure shooters, role players) but is it worth the World Cup? I have my doubts. I don't remember when the last time USA Basketball Team last time had as weak team as nowadays? At least on paper.

This is the Greek squad:

Giannis Antetokounmpo
Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Ioannis Bourousis
Nick Calathes
Antonis Koniaris
Giannoulis Larentzakis
Evangelos Mantzaris
Georgios Papagiannis
Kostas Papanikolaou
Ioannis Papapetrou
Georgios Printezis
Konstantinos Sloukas
Panagiotis Vasilopoulos

Calathes is EuroLeague MVP and likely the best passer in this world cup. Mantzaris and Papanikolau are extremely strong wings, Bouroussis and Printezis are veterans who can still make a difference. Regarding Sloukas - some rate him even better than Calathes. Thanasis is full of energy and seems to be on fire.

Apart from the United States, I regard Serbia and Spain as the only teams that have even an outside chance of winning the tournament. The United States is ahead of the rest of them by a huge margin, and unfortunately this gap is increasing with every passing year. Considering the chances of Greece, I would say that they may consider themselves lucky if they could qualify for the semi-finals. Apart from Giannis Antetokounmpo, I don't find any superstars among them. They couldn't clone Giannis, so they have included his brothers in the team.  Grin

China may get involved in a few upsets, but I can't see them progressing much further. Their advantage is that they have been placed in a very weak group, along with Venezuela and Ivory Coast. But they don't figure among the top-16 teams odds list given by the major gambling sites. But who knows, if luck is in their favor, then they can progress during the tournament.

I agree with most of your statement except this one. Their roster this year is not that far ahead of Serbia. If they ever lock horns later in the competition, I think Serbia will win.

If you also gamble in this competition, you might win bigger with the good odds of serbia, they are the 2nd best team based on the ranking from the betting odds so that makes them a tough competitor for the USA.

Serbia is  Serbia +350, meaning if you bet 1000 usd for serbia, you will get 2500 as your winning, that's a good odds right?

^ I think you've missed Derrick White in that list, they gotta have a second true point guard in there.

It's a decent roster, third-stringers at best, they just need Jimmy Butler (hope you get my reference lol).

I don't think USAB will have any problems winning this thing, can't see a team that can match their 3pt shooting, athleticism and overall roster depth.

Harrison Barnes
Jaylen Brown
Joe Harris
Kyle Kuzma
Brook Lopez
Khris Middleton
Donovan Mitchell
Mason Plumlee
Marcus Smart
Jayson Tatum
Myles Turner
Kemba Walker

That's a good line up, maybe not a star level of Lebron, Harden, or Westbrook, but these players can ball, they are young and hungry to win their first championship in FIBA.

Those odds looks very unrealistic and I am pretty sure when people start to actually pour money into it will change. I mean at the very least they are giving Germany way too much credit, France too, right now if you ask me from what I have watched there is only 2 candidates and if those somehow get eliminated (which I doubt) there is 2 more teams, so all others should be very very high odds.

USA will definitely win it, low chance they don't but this is sports and anything can happen and lets say they didn't, Serbia will than get it, now these are the two that will most definitely win it. However, if they fail than Spain and Greece will pick it up from there. There is no fifth team, there is no France, no Canada, no Australia, all of that is BS if you ask me.

I haven't followed the team but I feel that the team really is going to miss a big thing. This isn't just about the games that they have but it's about the pride of their country and the potential of their team.

I don't know about their officials or those people who's working with the sports commission on Nigeria. They should give consideration and process it as soon as possible before the proper date.

They successfully dominated their qualifying rounds, undefeated. So it's really

And just an update that their national team will now be able to play at the upcoming world cup. Smiley
I'm not from their country but this made me happy!! congrats to the team Nigeria!! although you will never hear our comments and support hear but do your best.

Good news about Nigeria national team - they will travel to China, funds has been secured by their basketball fedaration:
