Yes, bad news for Greece is the injury of Sloukas so we depend heavily on Giannis and Calathes... Still, if those two have a great day, I think we can beat anyone. Huge test vs Serbia indeed, their lineup is impressive!

There is no news regarding the seriousness of the injury. Still two weeks to go for the tournament, and there is a chance that Kostas Sloukas might still play in the world cup. Their first match is against Montenegro is on September 1. If he is not playing, then there will be a lot more additional pressure on other players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo.

BTW, anyone watched the warmup match between the United States and Spain? The American played really well, although they were without the star players who are still with the NBA teams. Donovan Mitchell and Khris Middleton were impressive and Spain went down by a good margin. The next warmup match for the US is against Australia.

What has happened in USA basketball? Why does most of the players are withdrawing from playing for FIBA world cup? I think there is something that the public does not know why or is there any conflict between players and the management.
Most of the star players from the NBA that were withdrawing from Team USA were just focusing on the upcoming season, business decision as they say and there is nothing to do with conflict between them and the coaching staff. I think their move would benefit the young and upcoming superstars in the NBA as they can now showcase their talent overseas and will boast their market value.

"Business decision" is the best way to put it.  Most of these players are internationally known already and dont have to build their international brand.  If they get hurt in these international games it can have huge financial implications as well.

The Greek team just won easily vs Italy and Turkey - especially Turkey being strong with many NBAers, it is really looking good for Greece so far - even though what counts in the end is the tournament and not those friendlies... Crash test today vs Serbia, I cant wait for the match!

This will be great test for Greek team, considering how strong Serbia is, i would even say they are favorites now to win world cup, with all those US cancellations.
It's a much anticipated heroic game for me MVP if they able to work it out and find ways to win against Serbian it's a good test for team Greece to check if they have the capabilities to work with this team then also getting a good chance to overtake team USA is also possible, lets wait and see if how Giannis will showcase his awesomeness inside the court.

If that's the case, then why does other country have their NBA players still play for the upcoming FIBA world cup? They should have also been restrained from participating too since they have obligation in the NBA?

Those who want to participate in the NBA will do that and those who want to play for their country in the world cup has the choice of doing that. Players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo of Greece have opted for the world cup, but most of the American heavyweights (including James Harden, LeBron James, Williamson, Lillard, Curry, Irving, and Kawhi Leonard) have opted for the NBA. It's just a personal choice.

There decision is good, they can focus on the upcoming season and they can give a chance for the other players to shine.
USA has a lot of talent, so that's not a problem and star players in the NBA will not be guilty even if they choose not to participate, if you look at the betting odds, USA is still the favorite to win the FIBA and actually a heavy favorite.

There are also (International) NBA players who opted not to play for their country. Those who withdrew from playing with their national team were not restrained or anything, it was purely the players decision whatever the reason is.

Spain and USA played on a scrimmage and the score ended up 90-81 in favor of USA. It was a close match yet I ended up watching only the highlights of the game. There was a player of Spain that is a great shooter. He's like 3-5 feet away from the arc yet he still scores the basket. I forgot the name of the guy was. Well, that's world's  first and second placer guys. What do you think they'll do in the world cup?

Serbia played Turkey last night in some Greek tourney or something and they have shown what they can do, people are not saying Serbia has a big chance to win the cup (IN A CUP USA PLAYS!) for nothing, they played Jokic and Boban at center and had Bogdanovic scoring like crazy, of course when faced against USA things will be different but lets be honest with each other USA brought people like Brook Lopez, how much do you really think Brook Lopez can stop Jokic, dude is literally one of the best centers in the league right now, same with Greece, they have the latest MVP of the league with Giannis, I doubt it will be easy to stop that dude. So, USA may still get the gold but I give Greece and Serbia a lot of chances to win looking at how they played recently.

In 10 minutes a friendly match between Serbia and Italy starts.
I think that this game will be very crucial to identify if Serbia is going to challenge the title in the FIBA world cup championship in the next days. I expect to see them playing great basketball and beating Italy by many points ahead.

Poland is more like a "team" whereas China is just individual good players, that is why Poland has a bigger chance. On the other hand neither of those teams will have a shot at the semi finals, we have teams like USA and Serbia who will most likely will be in the finals (unless they face each other, I don't know how the draw will work).

However, looking at the teams right now at sportsbet.io I can see that China probably got a lot of bets since they are at 2.10 right now and Poland is at 2.20 so I can say that peoples sentiment that China is better probably worked a lot. Biggest bet here is USA winning group E gives 1.01 odds, that is literally 1% increase and doesn't worth it at all but if anyone wants to make money that is 100% guaranteed money with no possible loss at all. Hell Greece having 1.25 is another guaranteed one as well and that is 25% increase, nobody can beat them in their group.

USA is a super team so it's a gold for them again. Having 1 or 2 NBA player in one team makes them strong then how about a team consist of NBA player and superstar.

As for my PH team, I fully support them wether they go to 2nd round or not. Their bracket is tough and still long way to go in beating those opponents.

What about the china who is the host country for this world cup ?  Although china never won the FIBA worldcup before but it would be interesting to see their performance in this WC. They are in group A with Cote d'Ivoire, Poland and Venezuela in their pool.

According to the odds, China will advance to the 2nd round and their fate depends on who will be their opponent in the next round but i think they would not make it to the semi-final round. I saw them play in the NBA summer league, their roster is not that good.

I thought that China is the strongest team in the group.
Does Poland have a stronger team than China? In my opinion, I believe that China will beat all teams and take the 1st place. A @2.65 bet is a good one as well, so I would probably gamble for that.

So the heavy favorite in this tournament - USA, has been crushed by a team made up of some G-league and international players. This does not look good for me. I don't think they will win at this rate.

They are not composed by heavy favorite players from the NBA though they are still have a good chance since the team even from G-leauge can be a good competitor, it's much better this way as teams will be much balance and no longer predictable if team USA is composed by heavy players from the NBA.

It's every countries pride to watch their national players to compete internationally.
This match was a joke and it's not worth to pay much attention to the result. The played just 1 quarter and their main players like Kuzma, Harris, Turner didn't even played. In next days USA will play friendly matches against Australia, Spain, Canada, then we will see how good or bad they're.
@Fredomago, team made from G League players would struggle against most teams in World Cup and even reaching next round probably would be difficult. But if they would make teams from Euroleague and some China league players, it would be serious contender for trophy.
