I see that there are many people from Philippies in this thread. I know how passionate about basketball you're, but I don't see how your team can reach next round. Ok, you're probably stronger than Angola, but to reach next round you need to wing against Serbia or Italia, what is hardly possible in my opinion. Anyway, good luck for your team, it would be amazing to see you going further.

I also don't think they will advance, the odds says it all, Philippines is +120872 to win the Fiba World, looks like a lottery win.

You're right. Philippines is really passionate not just in basketball but any other sports including boxing (Manny Pacquiao phenomena).

So I will support PH, but I will admit that it will be a big task ahead of them to even go to round 2 as my fellow kababayans have said.

Well, the fact that the Philippine Team qualified is already an achievement, not just for their team but for all those who support them. No doubt, Filipinos are such a big fan of sports.

PH team surely have tough opponents but they will do their best to go farther than they have before. They will perform well. Whether or not they reach the next round, they've already made their fellow men proud.

As for my PH team, I fully support them wether they go to 2nd round or not. Their bracket is tough and still long way to go in beating those opponents.
The Philippine team is just happy that it qualified for the FIBA World Cup and getting into the second round is just a bonus for them. Their current roster is too weak to advance to the second round even if Jordan Clarkson is included in the roster.

USA is a super team so it's a gold for them again. Having 1 or 2 NBA player in one team makes them strong then how about a team consist of NBA player and superstar.

Do you believe anyone could upset the USA this time?
Even though some of the big guns of the US team are withdrawing from the roster, they still are the favorite to win the trophy. We have seen international players playing in the NBA and excel but if they go back to their national team, it's another story since there are two or three of them that have the experience in the NBA that can make difference in FIBA.

US team is still a strong and favorite to win the FIBA Cup but I love to see how the Greece perform. Not to forget United states have won the last two world cup in 2010 (Held in Turkey) and 2014 (Held in Spain)

To tell you the truth, I do favor Greece to win this world cup but for that they need to play their best performance.

I would love for us to win but to be honest - even a medal would be a huge success... Even with Giannis our roster cannot compete with USA, Australia, Canada, Serbia, Spain and not even France to be honest...

Tyler Dorsey likely to start for GR as well - I cant wait to see Giannis together with Calathes, hope they will connect.

I'm suggesting OP to make a poll, we can make it as our reference on what team we should beat.
Regarding the pool, I am sure he can't do it with this thread anymore unless he makes another started topic about it. It will be good to see a pool to vote for the country you want at least 3 votes per user.

No, that's wrong, he can still add a poll despite this thread was already created, if you have a thread where you started, try to explore it and you'll see an option that allows you to add poll.

I agree, having Clarkson in the Gilas Team will be a big help, however, Blatche has build a chemistry with the players so he will be a boost if he is going to play again. Of course USA is the heavy favourite to win, so it's really hard to bet against them as this point.

Having them both on the team will give us a chance to win some games on FIBA World Cup, but we need to have the ultimate chemistry out there. because we can't let these guys play like on their own game. A very impressive ball movement and a few miss three's will make us win some games on FIBA. PUSO!

With that news with a 40/60 chance to get Clarkson, I guess he will not, a good thing if it does. Blatche is a good all-around player as I see on the previous matches with Gilas. Hope injuries don't really happen to them if they will be accepted by FIBA.

I still don't know if Clarkson will be able to play this time (I hope so) but never read any news about it.

Hopefully he is gonna play, here's the latest new about that .

Anyone that loves basketball, watches the NBA and doesn't give a crap about FIBA.
Not in the Philippines, whatever it is as long as it's about basketball especially if our country is a participant we do watch it, we do love this sport here in my country ranging from town to town you'll probably find more than 10 courts to play.

I'm still hoping that the Philippines can snatch a win, I still don't know if Clarkson will be able to play this time (I hope so) but never read any news about it. Though an undercard and only got 1 medal (bronze) received way back the 50's, I am still hoping.

So many good teams to watch for but the recent championship with United States is really a good one, winning their 5th Title is not easy and for this year they will defend it with all their best. Luckily my country which is Philippines was able to qualified for this world cup, i just hope they will do better this time.

If you want to take a risk for PH, you can take advantage of the odds. I'm seeing a decent Moneyline odds for it.

Analyze the teams on Group D. At least even at 50% (but I'm seeing 70%), PH can able to snatch a win.

I also read about the possibility of Damain Lillard as captain for the team.

Damian Lillard already withdraws from the team.

Team USA doesn't have solid superstars on their lineup now but composed of good role players.  As always, the current roster is still deadly.

FIBA is approaching, well, I like USA but I think betting odds is not so attractive,

You will not find a good odd betting on them because they are heavy favorites. You will have better odds on teams on the opening rounds.

I'm not following this much, I love to back my countries team but I know they don't have the size and the length to compete against the best teams in the world.

I also do not believe my country will be able to complete well but I think they can pass the first round. So I am looking forward to the betting odds on my countries matches in the first round and make some money there. Nothing feels better than supporting your country and winning some bets on the side.

Even though I think Greece shall play a good role this time, I dont think they will win the trophy... Wink Do you believe anyone could upset the USA this time?

I believe that Greece will have a good tournament and we are about to see good basketball from Giannis.
In my bets I will go with Serbia, they have always a lot of talents and skilled players that can win the tournament anytime.

Yes my favorite game deserves serious discussion, Player James Harden will miss the competition.I am very impressed with his crucial passes. Perhaps the American team will suffer from the loss of Hardin's services. We will all follow the contours of the opponent.
