last season messi didn't stand out so much playing for PSG this time maybe it's different even though messi didn't carve a champion league trophy for SPG but he will totally play with argentina maybe this is his last game in the world cup event. Same thing as Brazil I think these two countries will rely heavily on the two mega stars Messi and Neymar, what's interesting is Germany I think Germany will qualify for the semifinals seeing some of their strikers are very sharp in scoring goals.

It's too much pressure for Messi, I don't think he will manage to do it.

Last chance to win the World Cup pretty much. He has done an amazing career, but still hasn't been able to win the world cup. And I'm not sure he'll be able to deliver this time. He's not Maradona.
No World Cup can ever be won by relying on one player. So I think if Argentina rely on Messi alone, they will have to give up the hope from the World Cup. Everyone's concentration is needed there. Everyone has to play well. There is a lot of pressure on those who are good players. In that case, most of the time the result will not be good if those players are given extra pressure.

In that case it might be true, they need to make Regeneration now.
Even though some of them are young players, there are still some who in my opinion are too old for them, such as Chielini and several other players who are over 31 years old and above.
Even if their performance still shows something good but still this will only make them complacent and inhibit regeneration there.
I believe some matches are fixed and some things are already decided. Even Italy played bad in qualifying rounds but they are managing to play the tournament.
But let's see how they play the important matches. But I believe portugal and Germany will reach the final.
What do you mean by playing a tournament? Italy have now been knocked out of the world cup competition and they will only be spectators for now.
Germany and Portugal are good teams but I don't understand why you are so sure about this especially for now there are still some big teams and more likely to have big chances like Brazil there.
Portugal in their qualifiers are so difficult that indeed if they are in a tough group then it will be difficult for them.

not just some matches, if you think some are fixed then I would assume most of them are, it's like they gave Italy the Euro but they had to not qualify for the world cup, anyways the final you mentioned with Portugal and German seems tough to happen, I'm expecting a Latin team to win the world cup this year since it's been 19 years when the last one won it which was Brazil, they are the favourites for me unless Argentina made a surprise.
Last time (2018), the world cup was held in Russia and none of the CONMEBOL teams managed to qualify to the semi-finals. France, Belgium, Croatia and England managed to find a spot in the semis and all these teams were from the UEFA (Brazil and Uruguay were kicked out during the QF stage). It is clear that weather played its part in 2018. But this time, that won't be the case, since the weather in Qatar will be very mild during November-December. Also, both Brazil and Argentina have the momentum at this point.
In Europe, we have serious trouble with weather for many teams specially from South America which give good advantage to European teams, and they were able to qualify for semi-finals without any team from South America but now here in Qatar no advantage for any team as most probably weather conditions are going to favor all teams or may be more suitable for South America instead of Europeans so here competition is tough and Argentina and Brazil both can do much better than Russia 2018.

Currently, mostly European teams are unpredictable and have no momentum which is going with Brazil and Argentina, so I am feeling these two and France and Germany can go into last four.

@Rabi3 without any substantial proof we can only speculate about matches being fixed, but coming back to reality I do agree that Brazil has a big chance of winning this World Cup. @Sithara007 I feel that Argentina may not reach the finals, because they’re going to rely heavily on Messi and after shifting to PSG he isn’t performing like he used to when he was playing for Barcelona.

For me actually, it is not a very big surprise because Italy has not been doing well recently and I am not going to say that there did not deserve to play in the world cup but they have also not been playing like a team that deserves to play in the world cup. And I also agree that they have been really unlucky in some cases. But whatever you say they cannot just concede a goal at that time of the match against Macedonia.
I agree, Italy didn't deserve to play in the world cup because they played badly in the world cup qualifiers.
In their matches, there were a lot of bad luck, unused penalties, missed opportunities to score, but in the end, if you can't achieve the desired result, you don't deserve success.
They were excellent at the last European Championship and became European champions, but it seems that their magic has been lost since then  Grin
The time has probably come for the rejuvenation of the Italian national team and a new beginning.
Italy was out of last world cup which was surely disappointing for millions but as they fight back in UEFA and won there were hopes now things are going positive for them, and they could be able to fight back, and we will have them in this world cup, but sadly we miss again them with their poor performance and some bad luck as well because they were no able to perform good against few teams and lost their spot second time in a row which is surely another big disappointment for their fans around the world.

Surely they are missing their magic with having some good performance in UEFA but poor in World Cup Qualifiers which are giving them shock again and again now it's good time for them to start their program for next qualifier and try to join because it's surely good and entertaining for all soccer fans.

Messi will clearly want to win this world cup, so I'm sure Argentina will be playing their A game. But Brazil has a great team and they're just so good that it's hard not to see them in the final or at least semi finals really...

But then you also have Germany, and Spain, which are just fantastic teams. Man, it's going to be an amazing world cup. Such a shame that Italy didn't manage to qualify. But that's soccer, you never know what will happen.

after the game where portugal played without cristiano ronaldo and they lost it became clear to me that all games that portugal play in the world cup they will be extremely dependent on cristiano ronaldo, this makes the opponents only focus on stopping cristiano ronaldo, on the other hand, germany has not been a strong team as in the past. Honestly in this world cup I'm just betting on brazil and argentina to win

I've been reading some comments and thinking to myself.
What kind of improved technologies might we have at this World Cup in Qatar!?
I believe that a VAR improvement and a possible implementation of the chip inside the ball could be some examples!!?
Or will there be others?
I dont think there are anymore but the ball tracking + multiple dedicated cameras will help flawless offside decisions or at least we can hope(if the tech works flawlessly). They are calling it SOAT (Semi-automated offside technology)
I believe the SOAT technology has gone through a series of trials, which is why FIFA has scheduled its first use at the world cup event in Qatar.  it becomes interesting how the system works perfectly or not we will see later.  By the way, if technology is increasingly used in soccer, will every game not be more interesting or vice versa?

By using advanced technology the decisions that will be taken during the match are going to be a lot more accurate. So a lot of bad decisions and a lot of referees fixing the match is going to be an almost nonexistent issue. It is actually really good to see these types of improvements in football. But with these improvements, a lot of Cheeky plays are almost going to be eliminated. Players are not going to dive into the penalty box anymore knowing that they are being watched and they cannot fool anyone but themselves.

It's no longer an imagination, but now a reality. As part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, semi-automated offside technology will be used. During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, every official match ball will have a chip inside it for the first time in football history. I'm looking forward to seeing this happen.

Well, yes, I believe that these are one of the technologies that managed to improve the most from the World Cup in Russia to the World Cup in Qatar (of course, this is just a bet of my part)
I also believe that several cameras exclusively can help with decisions on impediments or something similar.

I think it's better when a couple of strong teams miss the tournament due to the high level of competition than when the tournament turns into a huge number of meaningless games (due to a large difference in the teams' classes) and interesting games can only be expected in the 1/4 finals. Even in the current tournament, the group stage will not be very interesting, and in the next one everything will be much worse.

Again, I need to disagree with you. We are already having meaningless games. Even top ranked teams from AFC and CAF are unable to compete against teams from CONMEBOL and UEFA. I will give you one example. Remember the Russia vs Saudi Arabia match during last world cup? (inaugural match). Russia destroyed Saudi Arabia with a 5-0 margin. Now Russia is not a top ranking team from the UEFA. And yet the match was completely one sided, despite the fact that Saudi Arabia is one of the strongest AFC teams.

Then I do not understand why you write that you do not agree with me? You repeat what I write: too many pointless games. And taking into account the change in the format of the World Cup, there will be much more of them. My opinion is that the old format is better, and it would be even better to switch to a new format where there are no weak teams at all in the final part. And I do not agree with the fact that, for example, African teams are weak - there have often been good teams from this region in history that have performed well at the World Cups - Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, etc.
