Super Falcons were truly impressive if you ask me. They controlled the game and remained unbeaten for full 120 minutes. I really enjoyed watching the match, but it's sad end up Nigeria lost. England advanced through penalties and they seem likely to become champions, as become top favorites after USA departure.
Nigerians experienced a sad ending, but after more reflection, the Super Falcons deserved accolades. They battled England with all of their strength and skills, but they were unfortunate to score any a winning goal just after an England player was sent off by a red card making England terrified that they shouldn't lose in the extra minutes.

I wouldn't say it's a sad day for the Nigerian team, we are not just happy but our ladies were heroic. They did well and everyone is proud of them despite the loss, to the point that the president and his wife will soon host them and that can't be for anything. They gave the England team a tough time, and we all know that penalty is not what anyone could vouch for even though the winner would think they are better but they are not.

My only concern now is about that English girl Lauren James, that girl should be well-sanctioned. What she did was so evil and it was unprovoked, I don't know what she possibly wanted from that. She even went to tweet after the evil she did. FIFA should give her at least a 7-match ban, $100,000 and also make her issue a public apology to Michelle Alozie.

Africa only have Morocco female national team to cheer for in this tournament after the exit of the Super Falcons (Nigeria) and Banyana Banyana (South Africa).
Can the Morocco female national team repeat what the men's national team did at the Men's World Cup? I just wish that would happen, as it stands now the whole of Africa is hoping on the Morocco females to go far if possible get to the finals and win it. Is just a wish but is not going to be easy or a free pass because we have stronger teams ahead, but they (Lionesses of Atlas) have to go through France women national team first and that game is on going now. I wish them good luck in that encounter.

The game between Colombia and Jamaica was a bit one sided to me with Colombia calling all the shots. Ball possession saw the reggae girls of Jamaica in the lead with 54% while Colombia stuck with 46. While in total goal attempts, they passed the Jamaica side by having 9 shots to Jamaica 6. Usme's goal in the 51st minute broke the deadlock and further weakened the defense of already shaken Jamaica. Several attempts to come back was nullified by the Colombian defense.
I was secretly rooting for the reggae girls to stand a chance considering the efforts put to go for the tournament but I guess after all is said and done, they'd have to try again next time.

Colombia vs Jamaica in FIFA Women's World Cup these two teams have entered the field to play. Now Colombia is leading by 1 goal. The game is almost at the end. Jamaica has not scored any goals in this match. Now it seems that Jamaica will not score any goals in this match. But  If Jamaica can still score a goal, the match will be a draw. But Colombia team players will not give that chance. Let's see what happens in the end of this match. I hope Colombia will win the match.
Colombia vs Jamaica in today's match in the round of sixteen. Jamaica was defeated by one goal in this match against Colombia. The result of this match after full time is 1-0.

At the end of half time, they created some small chances against Colombia but they couldn't capitalize on those small chances. Colombia won this match but the performances of these two teams were quite equal. Colombia and Jamaica had almost equal possession of the ball against each other and short or successful passes on target were almost equal between the two teams.
Jamaica did well enough from the group stage, they defeated Brazil in the group. Kudos to both teams for delivering a competitive match.

Round 16 Colombia Vs Jamaica Women's Team Both teams put up a great attack to advance to the quarter finals. There was plenty of fighting between the two teams at the start of the first half but neither team managed to score as the match remained tied at 0-0. But in today's match both teams are playing brilliantly due to which neither team has been able to score yet but it is difficult to say which team will win today's match. Still since the result of the game is even, if the game is a draw, it will be more difficult to attack between the two teams. But at the moment the game is over in the first half but if the two teams can attack well in the second half then there is a possibility of a goal. And while Colombia women's chances of winning today are far from certain, Colombia will attack brilliantly in the second half to advance to the quarter-finals.

I have a question about this tournament. Since this is a different one than the FIFA World Cup, do they have exactly the same rules?

For example, I noticed that when the ball hit the referee, they stopped the play, which is not the case AFAIK in the FIFA World Cup, although that might have changed recently.

In any case, the question remains, are there 2 independent but similar set of rules?, or both tournaments follow the same rules?

Unlike the Americans whose team lost and were super happy that their girls crashed out of the competition, Nigerians, despite their loss England and also being out of the competition, we are very proud of our girls and by how far they came in the competition. The Super Falcons played aggressively, they created several goal scoring opportunities, I noted some poor decision making by the referee which included a penalty call during the game but then this is football. Good play Falcons.

On the Morocco vs France match. The French side is good. I have seen their games. But I always like to believe in the team that nobody thinks can win. The Moroccan team have exhibited and portrayed the qualities of winners through out the competition. I believe in them and I know they will beat the French side whether during the regular time or in a penalty shoot-out.

France is clearly the favourite we can also see it based on the market provided by the bookies Handicap -2.25 for France, but here Morocco is called the underdog team they beat Colombia in the last match as leading group H Morocco could have a chance if they can draw up to 90 minutes I mean on penalties. In other matches Colombia will face Jamaica and here Colombia is the favourite however it will not be easy as Jamaica has a solid defense even in the previous match France could not score against Jamaica or in the last 3 matches Jamaica without conceding.

Both Morocco and Jamaica are teams that are capable of making upsets. And so far in this tournament, they have shown their calibre. Morocco managed upset win against Colombia, while Jamaica managed to get draws against two of the strongest teams (Brazil and France). Their defense is quite solid. So far in this tournament, Jamaican women are yet to concede a single goal. So it is going to be tough for Colombia. Overall, I like the competitiveness shown by smaller teams in this championship. It bodes well for the greater good of football.

Nigeria's defeat was quite unfortunate actually because when England couldn't make the match go on with normal time after their striker Lauren James showed a bad attitude that earned her a red card, it should have been 30 minutes of extra time Nigeria could have put to good use, the Nigerian players looked like they had fatigue and it is the English players who are still quite good in attack even though the number of players has decreased.
Penalty shootout, Nigerian players were unable to deal with the intense pressure while the English players looked very prepared for the possibility of a penalty shootout, but Nigeria's defeat was as predicted because England was indeed superior here, while in the other matches Australia managed to win without having to go through extra time or even penalty shootouts, the Australian players managed to make two goals the result of a very good counter-attack.
Today's two matches, Colombia vs Jamaica and France vs Morocco, Colombia vs Jamaica match will be a more balanced match in my opinion because both of them have almost the same strength, it will be very different from the other match France vs Morocco where France is far more superior than their opponent, however, it does not rule out the possibility that Morocco will provide tough resistance because in the World Cup this time it was seen that teams that were considered weak actually managed to show fierce resistance to the favorites teams.

LOL.. for England there is no need to get "overjoyed". After 120 minutes, they were tied at 0-0 with one of the CAF teams. Anyway, today we have the last two PQF matches, which are going to be very interesting to watch. First we have the Morocco vs France match, where the Europeans would start as the strong favorites. Morocco is known for upsets, but defeating France will be an uphill task for them. They started with a 0-6 loss, but then recovered and won the last two group matches. And then we have the Colombia vs Jamaica match, where Colombia looks stronger on paper.

Nigeria lost a hard fought match against England women's team, Nigeria fought to the best of their ability but still they could not win against England. Nigeria had a great chance to come back in the match when an England player was sent off after receiving a red card as England were down to ten men. Despite being reduced to a team of 10, England fought hard against Nigeria in the end and the match was goalless in regulation and extra time. But Nigeria could have done a little better in Tribeca. Although Tribeca doesn't rely entirely on one player, if Tribeca takes the shots with a cool head, maybe Nigeria would have taken a step closer to fulfilling their dreams.

You are right and the Nigerian women's ability to face England deserves credit because they have fought so hard with their existing skills, but it's a shame that the final result could not determine their fate to advance to the next round after two Nigerian players missed penalties. After the red card, the English women's defense became even more defensive and they didn't let their lack of players cause Nigeria to steal the three points.

The England women will be overjoyed with their victory over Nigeria. Despite their expectations, they did not expect to win on a penalty shot after extra time.
This is the final result that is difficult to predict because victory must be determined through the penalty. Nigeria was unable to take advantage of the situation after England's Lauren James received a red card in the 87th minute.

The Nigeria women team needs more encouragement and support, they did their best for the country, no one ever gave them the chance to scale through the group stage, but they did and gave England women a tough fight in the knock out stage.

Everyone through that England wil outshined the super falcon but they found it hard, The falcon were just unlucky they missed so many chances for goals. They couldn't covert their chances.
Penalty is just a lucky game, any one can win it.its 50/50. And the Nigeria women was out of luck to scale through to the quarter finals. England women deafed them by 4/2 on shoot out.

Morroco is the only Africa team remaining in the composition now, I wish they win France women and get to the Quarter finals.

Honestly the Super Falcons outplayed their opponent Lionesses and had two of their chances hitting crossbar twice and very unlucky to win the during the regulation time despite playing with an advantage of 11 women against 10 women of the English team when James was shown a straight red card after stepping on Michelle Alozie in the 3 minutes before the end of regulation time, penalty shootout helped the English women team to scrape through to the quarterfinal after enduring a tough game plan perfectly executed by the Nigerian side who are proud of themselves for proving their worth during the tournament.

It was sad to see my country women lose to England at such a crucial stage in the tournament. I know that they played well but they should have pressed England further to kill the game. It was clear that England really wanted the game to go into a shootout so it was up to them to finish it in regular time or in extra time. Leaving it to a penalty shootout played into the hands of England. Too bad aha. Now I need to pick another team to support for the remainder of the tournament. Might be Australia because they are a great team. Impressed with their performance today. Mary Fowler was top class today.

England got the good ending finally but that doesn't mean that they are doing wonderful, they have a whole structural women's league with many divisions and all that, they are literally making sure that they are playing as well as hoped for and yet they are still not doing that great.

Look at USA and look at England, I am giving that example because there are like 4 divisions in women's football back in England if I remember correctly, which means that they have 4 leagues worth of development and a lot of chances to be a footballer and yet they are still not finding good enough players and they are not developing them as good as USA does while spending that much money and time on it as well. They should be better.

I never thought the game was gonna extend to 120mins as many of us football fans were nursing the prediction of England starting to lead from the first half but the super falcons fought harder than expected Showing great tenacity, wonderful tactics and clinical tackles with their goalkeeper helping to save the game to extra time.
Congrats to the England women's team.
initially, before the game began. The England women's team believed that their game against the Super Falcons wouldn't stress them out and prevent them from winning. They were expecting the Super Falcons' ability to hold them off throughout the first, second, and extra minutes of the game without even scoring a goal astounded them beyond their wildest expectations. Lauren James's red card offense of stamping on Alozie at 87 minutes of play was motivated only by the disappointment of not scoring on time as they all  anticipated.

I would strongly praise the Super Falcons for their strength and well-played performance in the match against England, even though they later lost to the England women's team on penalties. They certainly put forth a tenacious effort to win the game, but luck was not on their side.
For me, I have the believe that the England team would get to the finals and if care isn't taken, they might be the champions.
The match against the super Falcons did well to cement my confidence in the believe that the England side is simply just better. Even with the red card and the pressure the African side brought, the England defense was prepared to hold the Falcons down, and that they did.

We have Morocco as the only African team left, and am hoping they do better to at least go past this stage and unto the finals.

Nigeria vs England
The match between Nigeria vs England in the Round of Sixteen was a tightly contested match. The Nigeria vs England Women's match was a goalless draw at full time.  Despite a tough competition between the two teams, England eventually won against Nigeria through penalties.  England confirmed the Super Eight by defeating Nigeria on penalties with a margin of 4-2 goals.

I was a Nigerian supporter in today's match but unfortunately the team I support lost in the tiebreaker. A win against England today would have ensured Nigeria a place in the quarter finals as an African nation but unfortunately they lost on penalties. Congratulations to Nigeria for losing against England but fighting hard and then losing.

The Nigerian team played very well and they were level with England till the finish time.  However, England win on the penalties 4-2 and qualified for the Quarterfinals.
Before going into the match, England was the favourites and also they haven't lost any match in the group stages too and topped in their group D.

England will meet Jamaica or Colombia in the Quarterfinals.
