@sithara007 although Qatar has 13 naturalized names, it doesn't change their FIFA rankings. if I'm not mistaken, Bassam Al-Rawi is a defender who was originally an Iraqi national. Honduras is ranked 80th in FIFA, it's only natural that Qatar won the match.  Guatemala is ranked 118th in FIFA, the match ended 2-0.

the only interesting match, was the friendly against Chile. the score of the match ended in a 2-2 draw, and even then the ball possession was owned by Chile with 64%.

I admit, Qatar has improved a lot, their football is growing rapidly and is proving to be a champion in the 2019 Asian Cup. however, one thing they don't have. experience, they have not been tested in the world cup stage championship. they have nothing but the home team.
So, it's interesting, I want to know how strong they are to beat Ecuador in the opener later. and as we know, that Ecuador has a higher probability of winning this match. so let's wait, just counting the days this world cup celebration will be held.
Qatar is doing good for the positive performance in this World Cup even it has never been easy for them because they are having average rank players which is clearly indicating about their chances, but few things are still positive as they are investing and having good domestic structure most chances they could be in better shape and able to do improving performances in coming years here they have teams like the Netherlands, Senegal and Ecuador all are difficult teams with aggressive background here I am feeling they have no chance for going into next round even its possible for them to have third spot but going into next round is definitely needed extraordinary performance specially against the Netherlands and Senegal which is current African Champions.

If you only look at recent history, then you are right, but if we look at the entire history of world championships, then we already had examples of Brazil and Italy being world champions twice in a row.
And as far as recent history is concerned, in the period 1994-2002, Brazil played three times in a row in the final of the world championship and was twice the world champion.
I personally think that France, along with Brazil, has the best team at the world championship in Qatar and I see France as the main favorite for the world championship title.
Of course, surprises are always possible  Grin

You can't even compare the Brazil team of 1994-2002 with the current French team. It would be an insult to the former. Back then Brazil had not one or two, but more than half a dozen of the best players in the world. On top of that, they had the best captain back then (Dunga). Players such as Ronaldo, Cafu, Romário, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Edmundo, Bebeto, Emerson and Zé Roberto were capable of singlehandedly winning matches for their team. Current French team is nowhere near when we talk about the skills and capability.

I agree with you, the Brazil team in the period between 1994-2002 was one of the best in history, next to the famous Pele generation.
That team was really a pleasure to watch, and in fact even today I still don't understand what happened to them in the 1998 final with France.
Today's France is also a good team, but Brazil from the period 1994-2002 was a better team.
In fact, after the latest news that key players in the French midfield, such as Pogba, will not play due to injury, I no longer consider France to be the main favorites for this World Cup.
I think Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain have better chances.

Qatar's only advantage in this world cup is as the home team, nothing more.

while Senegal, has several players who play in the European league competition. apart from Sadio Mane who became the mascot of their squad, there are several other names who also have important positions in their respective clubs. such as, Edouard Mendy who became the main goalkeeper in the Chelsea team, Kalidou Koulibaly who became this player in the Chelsea defense, and several other names who played in the European league. in terms of strength, it is clear that Senegal has more depth than Ecuador and Qatar. the FIFA rankings are also quite far apart.

Clearly, Senegal's probability is greater as a team that is certain to qualify for the next round than the other two candidates.  However, in football it is teamwork that determines a victory. for the Netherlands, I've covered it in many previous posts.

You haven't checked the recent matches involving Qatar, and that is the reason why you are underestimating them. And this is the same team that won the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, by defeating Japan in the final. I know that AFC is not a tough confederation, but they have performed well against various European teams recently as well. One thing I don't like about Qatar is the dominance of naturalized players in their team. A large part of their squad is made up of players who have no real connection to Qatar, but representing them. Bassam Al-Rawi is a prime example.

Now coming to Qatar, there is a chance that they can be the dark horses.

I also think there are some slim chances for Qatar to qualify in the next round. Odds are against them, by bookies Ecuador and Senegal are favorites, but they are playing at home and they invested a lot in their team. I guess we will see are ready for big competitions.

I checked the odds and the favorites from Group A are Netherlands, followed by Ecuador and Qatar. Senegal is at the 4th position, which is surprising considering their current form. All four teams are quite capable of staging a few upsets. And among them, I would rate Netherlands and Ecuador as the favorites. The battle for topping the group will be between these two teams. But then, you can't discount the chances of the other two teams as well. Senegal is in exceptional form recently, and Qatar enjoys the home advantage.

Even if we go with database and analysis then surely we can do better instead of having all things through current and previous forms because it's never been easy for any team to stay on same level for long time as this is part of the routine cycle ups and downs are also part of the life here with most chances Brazil is going to be one of the best team but for their opponent we have few teams which are giving their best and can take pole position.

France is surely with the strength of squad currently one of the best in Europe and can go through into last four but few things which are creating mess up for me is their inner problems can do something worst for them in this event, and we can go for the final which could be between Argentina vs Brazil which is also option right now.

I think we will have an uncertain World Cup and it's really difficult to predict the winner. I give a slight advantage to the French, they have a dangerous team full of players who play at the highest level, Mbappe, Pogba, Griezmann, Kante, Dembele, Lemar, and Benzema, who is having an excellent year, he can even take the title of the best scorer. He took that title in CL, maybe he can do it again?
Never has history about national team success become the winner of World Cup in a row after several edition time always have different national team become the winner, lets feedback at 2002 Brazil become the champion and next time edition Italy success become the winner. Four years later at 2010 have new champion of World Cup Spain. Edition on 2014 Germany success become the winner and last four years ago France success win after beating Croatia at the final.

No doubt with France player composition, but I am believing with myth never have the same national team success win World Cup in a row, seems have another national team get the winner in this edition except France.

I was looking at the odds for matches, on Qatar wins it's over 3.5 and for Ecuador and Senegal around 2. A draw is over 3 for both games. I also think that Netherlands and Ecuador are favorites in this group, but we can't rule out some surprises, and I guess both Qatar and Senegal can make surprise us.

It is very difficult to make a comparison between Senegal and Qatar. I used to be very critical of the Qatari team (you can check my previous posts). But then I need to admit that recently they have shown a lot of improvement. Senegal is the strongest team from CAF. But then, historically the performance from the African teams have been inconsistent. Sometimes they will upset tournament favorites and the next day they will go down against weak teams by big margin. Anyway, the chances that either Qatar or Senegal will manage to defeat Netherlands/Ecuador is very slim.

Let's make some predictions then:

Quote from: Group A prediction
The Netherlands
Ecuador
Senegal
Qatar

That's my prediction for group A of Qatar World Cup 2022.
The world Cup has always spring surprises where under dogs go on to knock out stages. I don't agree with this your prediction although it's your opinion. But looking at each teams recent performance Senegal will top the group with Netherlands to come second. But both teams should be wary Ecuador and Qatar

With recent developments and France performances of late I believe the jinx will repeat its self with France coming out in the group stage. With Pogba and Kante already a doubt its already getting worse

In my view Ecuador has virtually no chance of qualifying for the next round. The Netherlands is of course the strongest team in the A group, but Senegal can also come pretty close. For example, they have Mane in the ranks, but there are still a number of strong players who play in the Serie A. Qatar may be the weakest country on paper, but it might surprise you because of the high ambition and the extremely fanatical footballers who have worked here for years and usually do not play in major competitions and/or tournaments.

Apparently, Ecuador will have to work hard if they want to qualify for the next round. at least, they must subvert the host first in the opening match. if they have it, Ecuador will just need to move on to the next step to overthrow Senegal.

however, it seems that the scenario will be difficult to realize. the thing is, Senegal is a tough team and they are ranked 18th in FiFA and Ecudor are ranked 44th in FIFA. apparently, Ecuador's chances are very small in this championship.
as was the case with the hosts, Qatar. the only thing that is their advantage is, Qatar plays as the host with the atmosphere of support flowing heavily from the Qatari public itself.
however, in football anything can happen during the game. for sure, both Ecuador and Qatar will play as much as possible and work hard in their fight later.

You are right that anything can happen in football, but if we talk about the chances of qualifying for the play-offs from group A, I think the Netherlands and Senegal have a great chance because most of the players on their national team rosters have players who  have experience playing in Europe's top leagues.

However, the Netherlands and Senegal should keep in mind the hosts Qatar, who I believe are working very hard to make history at the 2022 World Cup, as well as other rivals who are not favorites from a FIFA rankings point of view.

The opening match of the 2022 world cup will be opened on November 20, Qatar, which is the host will face Ecuador, it is certain that the host will have a lot of advantages in this match, because they also won Asia last year and they also played In front of their own supporters, of course they don't want to just enliven the 2022 world cup, they also hope to be able to talk a lot at this year's world cup, because this is their dream, because they have never experienced playing in a world cup, but Qatar must also be vigilant because Ecuador also has some great players who play in European leagues, such as Enner Valencia and many other players who play in the English league, but seeing from past experience the home team was able to qualify from the group stage and managed to secure a ticket to the round of 16, such as South Korea and Japan.

I don't think that you have a good idea about the Ecuadorian team. They managed qualification from the toughest confederation, by overtaking teams that are ahead of them in FIFA rankings. Netherlands do have some talented and experienced players such as Memphis Depay and Luuk de Jong, but the recent performance is not up to the mark. And I don't trust Senegal, because they have a habit of losing crucial matches. Now coming to Qatar, there is a chance that they can be the dark horses. Qatar enjoys home advantage and recently they have performed well during the international friendlies.

Let's make some predictions then:

Quote from: Group A prediction
The Netherlands
Ecuador
Senegal
Qatar

That's my prediction for group A of Qatar World Cup 2022.
There is no doubt about quality of CONMEBOL because they are surely best in the world and have the toughest teams which can give good fight to UEFA which is also one of the best right now we have these two most professional regions with now Africa is also doing good development and have chance to be developed in coming years.

I agreed with your all lineup because I am also feeling here Netherlands, Ecuador and Senegal are the best units with Qatar is surely having some home advantage with no quality and level as they are here just because of host country but can take one or two points but most chances they could be at the bottom of this group as I am still on my words they could be not in next world cup even we have 48 teams because they are still lack of quality.
