I think there have been some talks that basically they are going to re design the whole thing because the 2022 world cup was actually quite interesting, so they want to keep the current format.

I'm not sure how it will end up being in the end, but hopefully they actually come up with something reasonable because there will be so many countries now.

As far as I know, this 10-match figure was decided earlier, when FIFA was thinking about a 3 team per group format. But then they changed the format to 4-team groups and therefore the total number of matches almost doubled to 104. So I guess both Canada and Mexico will get more matches to be staged within their borders. But I have a question here. If USA is hosting more than 70% of the matches, then why Canada and Mexico are being allotted automatic qualification to the 2026 World Cup? They are not co-hosts. They are just subsidiary hosts.

I don't think this is enough excuse, Infact, I don't think this is even an excuse at all..
And trust me, I don't think any of the team would care about where they lodges or the kind of hotels they used, and where other teams lodged, the food the ate and the hotels they used.

I believe they will all focus on their primary reason for being in those countries, and that is to play the football game and try to make their respective countries proud, they are not going there to party of to enjoy themselves, they are going there for a business, when time to party and have fun comes, I believe each of those players have more than enough money to afford himself any type of hotel in any part of the world he likes.

I still don't know how exactly they want to have a plan for this world cup, I mean they can let one country host the whole grouping stage and other countries host the other stages one by one, otherwise the teams in the world cup won't have the same situation and it's not fair for some teams to playing in Canada and use the hotels there while other countries play on Mexico and use Mexican training fields and hotels I'm sure some teams will be unhappy and if they get bad results they will blame FIFA for it.

I feel like there is this talks about Russia not be part of some sports organizations, but that feels like a start of one thing and end of another. Just as an example, Olympics had something like that as well. In the end we have to accept the fact that moral superiority can't be in any of these nations at all and qualification games are the only thing that matters.

Thankfully we are going to have more teams and I feel like 64 can be achieved in the future as well, more games means more money and that is what the world cup is all about. It happens every 4 years but it makes so much money and definitely something to consider when dealing with this much money.

And Canada and Mexico will host a total of 20 games, right? Or are there any changes?

From what I know, Canada and Mexico will host 10 games each and the rest will be held in US soil. That is quite less because in this new format where 48 teams will play, there will be a total of 100+ games. I mean, it should be maximized because they also have a large stadium to host some of the games and it will be a big help to the host cities to boost their businesses.

I agree with you. In fact, in my opinion, the EURO is an even better competition than the World Cup, with many more quality teams and with many more uncertain and interesting matches.
It is very difficult to become the champion of Europe, and this could be seen on the example of France, which was the world champion and is the current world runner-up, but they did not manage to win the trophy at the last 2 EUROs.

I didn't read this news and it seems like it was just a discussion and suggestion to PSSI and came from uncredible media, but if it's done right and Indonesia wins then what do you expect? expect the U-20 World Cup to still be held in Indonesia while still banning one of the countries that have already qualified? This polemic should no longer need to be debated as it is currently still a hot debate on social media in Indonesia and finally hoax news began to emerge which in the end all discussions were no longer true and pure with reasons of rejection. With only a few months remaining, the appeal will not change FIFA's decision on cancellation, and the debate will not change Indonesian football for the better because football is often used as a political tool to build their popularity, not to build football.

There is no place in the world without politics. In the same way, the football world cup or FIFA also has politics among the authorities. But there is no problem in politics if football is improving day by day, no development is possible without change in politics.

as a football lover from Indonesia, I also really regret the decision made by the politicians here, just imagine if the US, which is a country close-friend to Israel, refused Indonesia to play in the 2026 world cup if Indonesia was chosen as one of the teams competing in world cup, does it not hurt

That's good choice from the popular players, but around the senior players like Ronaldo and Messi there is some sort of hype and is being used for the business. Same as what Maradona did, these two can serve as the manager which too gets importance for the specific team. The money that is being poured into the pocket of Ronaldo for the Saudi Arabia Pro League is the real example how business is being moved along with these players. What they've invested on Ronaldo could be earned double by the end of the league for sure.

Well, the actual stages and groups, etc, have not been decided yet. They are re-thinking how to make it after the success of the 2022 World Cup. It was very fun and interesting all the way, so maybe they will keep the format.

And it won't necessarily be longer as you can have games at the same time as they did near the finals.

Having more teams will make it look a bit more like qualifiers though. Which are also fun to watch on its own. Basically qualifying now for the world cup will be less important than what it was before since almost everyone will be qualifying now.

If you are old enough you know in the previous world Cup we had players like Ronaldinho and Zidane, they were much better than the current superstars we see, including Ronaldo and Messi. But, even if they were not performing well in the last years of their careers and they got retired that's how we saw the new generation of players in the world cup, I think the best decision these two players can make is to let other young players have a chance to play in the world cup.

Even without Brazil and Argentina, the European Championship is the strongest tournament on the planet (in terms of average team strength), and the World Cup, due to the invitation of a bunch of weak teams, is perhaps even weaker than the America's Cup (although I'm not 100% sure here).
It is unlikely that Ronaldo is in top shape - simply because of his age. But even with his deteriorating physical performance, his skill and experience allows him to remain a useful player.

I am so disappointed about Indonesia canceled as host for FIFA World Cup U20 due have issue about inadequate infrastructure or the issue of the recent rejection of the Israeli national team by several high-ranking political parties. I think FIFA must have integrity and respect for what the Indonesian government has done so far in making preparations by renovating several stadiums and I think almost all of the stadiums shown for the U20 World Cup event are very ready.

Have possibility appeal with canceled and PSSI here as Indonesian Football Association bring it to sports arbitration court or CAS to get back the right to host the world cup even though there has been a growing issue of Argentina hosting it.

Allow me to explain what happened to this polemic.

To be honest, I am disappointed with this cancellation. initially, everything was smooth and under control. in fact, everything has been well prepared by our government. Unfortunately, there are two governors who have previously agreed that the World Cup event will be held in their area. suddenly canceled the agreement, citing political reasons. in fact, it is not because of FIFA and the fault of our government. I see it more, there is an element of politics at play here.

Then, the reason for FIFA to cancel the holding of the U-20 World Cup event in Indonesia was the rejection of these two Governors on the Israeli U-20 squad team. yes, this case is actually not complicated. in fact, previously our President had conveyed to separate political and sports affairs. but unfortunately, FIFA's decision was unanimous to cancel Indonesia from becoming the host team. I am very disappointed, and sorry for what happened. this event should be a great event and opportunity to introduce our country from the football side. but due to political affairs, everything was in vain.

Yeah, it is already confirmed that there will be more teams joining the world cup tournament by 2026, this is a development that's been welcomed by majority of sports lovers.
And in my own personally opinion, allowing more countries the opportunity to participate in the world cup tournament come 2026 is a necessity since like we all know, the match is been hosted by three different countries, having more teams play would not only extend the game, it will also extend the fun as well. 

I'm also looking forward to it, but 2026 is secretly a bit far away. And the focus in most countries will surely be on the European Championship, which will be organized in Germany next year. Argentina and Brazil are the only non-European football countries that can compete with Europe. So if you have a European championship and you add Brazil and Argentina, you have a kind of world championship. Messi and Ronaldo are both pure fans of the game, I think they both just want to play as many final tournaments for their country as possible. Ronaldo is still in top shape, which means that he can play football a few years longer internationally than most other players of his age. And of course also because of his talent.

I know some people are definitely watching it, and it's really interesting, but as you mentioned, this topic is for the official FIFA World Cup. I can't wait for it, since I'm a huge football fan, I generally enjoy watching the World Cup or UEFA European league games because they're the best.. I heard that they'll be more teams in the next world cup which is really fair for some continents and it also means also that there will be more games to play and to enjoy.
