The trend of national teams from outside Europe and South America achieving great results at world cups did not start with Morocco in Qatar, but with South Korea at the 2002 World Cup.
South Korea was then fourth in the world, as was Morocco at the world cup in Qatar.
Ghana came very close to the semi-finals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but unfortunately lost the quarter-final match against Uruguay, when they failed to score the winning goal from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game.
In fact, at every World Cup, a few teams surprise and we see a few surprising results.
Japan was not a surprise to me at this world championship at all, I remember how 4 years ago in the round of 16 they played a great match against Belgium and in the end they unfortunately lost.
At this world championship, I was most surprised by the success of Morocco and the disappointing results of Germany, Belgium and Denmark.

Yes this is true!
I believe that in almost every World Cup there will be a certain team that will stand out during the games.

I believe this is the trend, it is clear that possibly more teams will be able to surprise everyone in the future, because they will be better prepared for the next world cups, and that is a fact, it seems that with each world cup that takes place, more teams (in general) are improving.
Infact most of the time. Morocco did surprise the world so does Saudi Arabia in one of their matches - and so does Japan.
The world cup fever was high people did enjoy visiting Qatar and has so much fun there. But not to forget the final too was so fantastic and people did enjoy that.

In fact, it is a natural process, many countries are investing more and more in football, foreign coaches are coming who contribute to the development of football in Africa, Asia and North America, and as a result of all this, the difference in quality between national teams from Europe and South America and national teams from other continents is decreasing.
At every next World Cup, we see the further progress of national teams from Africa, Asia and North America in terms of tactics and playing, and this is no accident.
It is only a matter of time when we will see a team from Africa or Asia in the final of the world cup.
Football is very popular in almost all countries of the world and the differences between countries are getting smaller and that is great for the development and popularity of football.

Visa issues during 2026 edition will be much worse than what they had in 2022. Qatar at least issues tourist visa without much delay, unless you are from the pariah states such as North Korea or Cuba. Getting a tourist visa for the United States is next to impossible for most of those who are residing in the third world nations. I am not sure whether they will make some exemptions for the 2026 World Cup, but we are going to witness a lot of ugly scenes at the airport.
I suppose a compromise could be reached in which if a fan can show they have booked a flight and a hotel room already and they have a ticket for one of the matches then a temporal visa could be issued which could last only for the duration of the world cup, however this is just an idea and without a doubt it is going to be problematic to get into the US and assist to the matches, however it seems that the last thing on the minds of the FIFA directors are the fans and their problems as with the exception of Mexico the most recent world cups have been hosted in countries which do not really have a long soccer tradition, and this is a problem.

It depends from which side are you looking at the World Cup 2022. If you watched it on a TV from your home, everything was great and most of the games were interesting. However I'm sure that fans that were stopped in the airport because they didn't get their visa on time. There was a situation where two guys payed almost $3000 for a game and airplane ticket to go to one game. One guy got his visa and the other guy didn't get it in time. The guy without a visa got stopped from entering a plane in Frankfurt, Germany and his friend didn't want to go alone. In the end not only have they lost $3000, they had to buy another plane ticket to get home from Frankfurt.

And then there were those discriminate situations where something that is normal in "our" world was forbidden in Qatar, but I won't go into that.

Perhaps football fans need to wait until 2030, if they don't want to waste their hard earned money. But we don't know about hosts for the 2030 edition yet. Right now there are at least a dozen bids, including those from Morocco, combined Uruguay–Argentina–Chile–Paraguay, combined Spain–Portugal–Ukraine, and the joint bid from United Kingdom-Ireland. Voting will be held sometime in 2024.

If this tournament is organized for football, everything should be done for football fans. What makes football football is the enthusiastic fans. For this reason, it is necessary to provide convenience in visa. If the necessary convenience is not provided, big problems will arise. That is why the United States should start working on the issue already.
This is going to be an issue this time because USA,  Canada and Mexico will not loosen their visa policies and that is going to be a big issue for them if too much people will come and reside their later on illegally which happens commonly in Europe.  Tourist visa will not ho in their favour so let's see how they'll plan this as majority of football fans will apply for that in 2026.
I have thought of many ways that there are no problems due to the visa problem, and this can be made a superior policy, that is, that there is a way that those who have to attend the country is that they give it some provisions, at least what Let the World Cup last 15 more days, this to give the person a chance to visit the countries, this to do tourism, make the economy move, and give a good show to this, I think that is the best way basic and easy to solve, but from now to 2026 we do not know which governments will be in the countries, if on the contrary instead of making immigration policies more flexible or on the contrary if a Trump wins then the measures will be much worse, tarnishing a show.

We shall discuss everything from qualification, preparation, and then the commencement of the actual Fifa world cup in 2026.  Smiley

Honestly, I thought this increase from 32 to 48 teams was very good, but making groups with only three participants, and ranking two in order to take two thirds of all teams to a direct elimination duel is insane, in my opinion.

Obviously this is not defined yet, but I would prefer to see 12 groups with four teams each, so that fewer teams qualify for the second phase.
And you, do you agree?

I also have another question.... how do you imagine that Argentina, current champions, will perform in the next World Cup without Lionel Messi and Ángel di María?
I think Argentina need to be concerned early on about how they are going to deal with this deficit in their attacking team.
It's too early to predict how will Argentina perform in the next world cup.
No One predicted that Morocco will make the history. But on the other hand - I think they will host the initial matches in Mexico and then the important matches in USA and maybe final in Canada.

It is a possibility that the 2026 World Cup could be impacted by a dangerous pandemic. With the ongoing threat of COVID-19 and the emergence of new variants, it is a concern that a similar or even more severe outbreak could occur during the tournament. This could lead to travel restrictions, quarantine measures, and even cancellation of the event. The potential for a pandemic to disrupt the World Cup should not be taken lightly and preparations should be made to mitigate the risk as much as possible. The safety and health of players, fans, and staff should be the top priority.

There are still four more years until we see the fifa world cup in 2026. Covid 19 has been finished in most part of the world and even if it is still there, the symptoms are very less.
Although we do not know about the future but i think that in 2026, there will be no covid 19 at that time and maybe we have a cure / medicine developed by that time to protect or treat the covid 19 patients.

I think the world cup which will be held in 2026 in USA will be covid free and there will be no threat about this disease at that time.

I'm still wondering if it is possible to predict when the pandemic comes. No body sees when pandemic comes, it is a surprise for everyone, it takes people unaware.  I doubt if you think pandemic will happen the year 2026. The world cup will definitely hold by then and nothing like pandemic will make the competition to be postpone.

Qatar didn't issued a tourist visa that easily for nothing, and USA wouldn't issue it for nothing neither. We are talking about one nation that is literally bribing Fifa to do it so they could promote their nation vs a nation that is already troubled with immigrants to begin with because they are a good nation.

I am sure that you could all realize that one nation being a lot better to live in and want to immigrate to versus the other is obvious here. Who would want to immigrate to Qatar where they literally killed thousands to build for world cup, but you would want to immigrate to USA which is a real thing right now. That's the difference between visa applications and a real thing.

It's possible that the government may implement measures such as increased online visa application processing and streamlined approval processes to make it easier for fans to travel to the United States for the 2026 World Cup. It's also worth noting that the United States has a history of hosting large events, such as the World Cup in 1994 and the Olympics in 1996, so we can trust that they will have the resources and experience to effectively manage the logistics of hosting such a large event.

Surly - they have been working on better customer services for the non immigrants visas. In our country they have waved off the interviews for the renewal of visa and that is a good step - for the visit visa I am sure they will have easy visa policy. Lots of people will move to the States and Canada. And the asylum rate will also increase.

Europe had 14 teams out of 32 in the 2022 world cup. Do you want all the countries in the tournament to be European countries? Italy couldn't qualify and that was no fault of Qatar or Saudi Arabia. Its the world cup. 4 from S. America, 4 from Asia and 5 from Africa. Its even more difficult to qualify in these South America than it is to qualify in Europe.
Europe already has more than double of what every other continent has and you think its not enough because countries like Saudi Arabia qualify and Italy didn't qualify?

In the 2026 world cup Europe will have 16 teams, Africa 9, Asia 8, S. America 6. Europe is still very well represented. Qualification is by regions so if you cant qualify in your region its no ones fault. Its same thing with the UCL where a big team like Chelsea wont qualify but a relatively smaller team like Copenhagen would qualify.

South America has 10 teams, each one of them are able to play football pretty well, so it's a really competitive league.

In Europe there are many teams that are extremely weak, like San Marino for example. It's just not the same.

Historically, South America and Europe have consistently performed way better than any other continents.

Personally, I actually think those two continents have too few slots to qualify, for example only 4.5 slots out of 10 for South America, and in Europe giants like Italy failed to qualify.

On the other hand, having Saudi Arabia or Qatar in the world cup instead of Italy just doesn't seem right to me as their skill is just not on par.

Some probably will, but in the end that is not responsibility of the FIFA, but rather of the United States government.
Since traveling to another country counts as tourism, USA immigration would be more careful when comes to granting Visas to those seeking to watch the matches, making sure they have no reason to move illegally and return to their home after the event.

They won't give visas to those who can't provide proof of job, income and family in their native motherland.
Most of the time people visit to go abroad. They wish to travel and work there but not in their own country.
I wish people work hard in their own country too so to bring prosperity and wealth to their local country.

... I just hope that FIFA will never allow regressive countries such as Qatar to host such tournaments in the future.

Keeping in mind the ongoing scandal in Europe about politicians who seemed to have been under the influence of Qatar (a.k.a bribery and lobbying), one could expect some future backlash from European government towards the FIFA when comes to the selection of hosts for the World Cup. I am not an expert at FIFA policies, but I am sure paying for hosting and paying politicians is not part of the legal protocol.

In the end, the only way to punish corrupt people is to punch them both in the wallet and their life time. Jail.

Well, to be honest, I confess that I was very surprised with Morocco disputing this semifinals of this world cup, I never imagined that they could have reached there, but they played with a lot of vigor and determination, and in fact the results they achieved were deserved!!

Agreed, unexpected outcomes kept the entire tournament interesting. From the beginning to the last more teams that are expected to win came out earlier. Morocco is really good at its game and gained good support from people around the world, who were once in favour of the top nations.

Came across a video of Saudi players getting threatened by an official for losing a match. I don't know whether that is true or not. If someone have come across the video please post what is being discussed.
