This is the role of media in destroying a country's image just because of any incident that happened in that particular country. Same thing happens with Pakistan all the time , bad media coverage and wrong reporting unfact exaggeration makes any country an insecure country to live in .
All countries have their good and bad points and I am sure mexico is not just about drug cartels or criminals there will be  uch more than that and for fifa fans there will be much more to explore and experience.

Media should not relate this incident with the Mexico to host the FIFA world cup because of two reasons.

First, there is still four year before the world cup will be played and a bad security condition at this point, does not mean that there is no roam for improvement. Mexico can take measures to improve their law and order conditions and more importantly there will be more security deployed when the world cup matches will be in progress in Mexico and the risk of an unfortunate incident will be reduced a lot.

Besides, the FIFA council are also watching the Mexico's government and its movement just to make sure that the upcoming games of the FIFA Word Cup 2026 will be a lot safe and if the FIFA will not be impressed by what they are doing, they can always remove some of the games that will be hosted by the Mexico and will re-arrange what place will be more suitable because I know they are also making the safety a priority. Anyway, there's still a lot of time to prepare for it.

Out of the total 80 matches, 10 matches each will be hosted by Canada and Mexico. So in case there is any law and order situation at Mexico or the conditions at Mexico are not good till 2025, the FIFA can easily manage these 10 matches through Canada and USA. Anyways Mexico will never want this to happen and i am sure they have plans to make their country safe before the start of this 2026 FIFA world cup.
Exactly my take as well, having to host a world cup I believe is an honor to any country that is given the opportunity, Mexico, alongside Canada and USA have been honored with this opportunity, I am sure that none of them would want to mess anything up, I personally see this countries going on top one another to give us the best world cup experience, because their performance in hosting the world cup would definitely be something alot of people would be talking about since it's the first time we are seeing three different countries hosting a world cup, none of the chosen countries would want to tagged the worst 2026 world cup host, so I believe Mexico will fix their self up before the year for the tournament to kick off.

This is another disgraceful decision by FIFA who did not react in time and allowed Ecuador to participate in the World Cup in Qatar even though it was obvious that they broke the rules and one of their players illegally played for them in the World Cup qualifiers.
It was more important for FIFA not to create unnecessary confusion before the start of the World Cup in Qatar than to correct the injustice and allow Chile to play instead of Ecuador.
What does this subsequent punishment to Ecuador mean to the unfortunate Chileans? Absolutely nothing.
Football is always about money and not about justice and fairness.

It is really a bad look, either they though Ecuador did nothing wrong, and let them play, or they think Ecuador did something wrong, and should have acted on that.

The fact that they think Ecuador did something wrong, and instead of acting and discounting the points in which the player was in the field, they simply ignored that, and just gave a 3 point penalty to Ecuador in the next tournament.

That seems like nothing compared to what was supposed to happen.

I hope Mexico does not face the same unjustice situation which we have been facing for the last many years.

We cannot really blame them because the management of FIFA just wanted a safe environment for all the viewers and players in every team that will be participating in the said match as well as every people needed to support the team. So, even if we say that the security of the country has improved, conditions may still vary because the FIFA will still look for a country that can host some games that will be also profitable to them, let's say it's a win-win situation for both the country and organization. In addition, that's likely the reason why your country were denied to host any international cricket games.

The media house is not supposed cover a news that is not real. Only thing I would say here is the media companies broadcast news differently in different Countries. The way the media houses broadcast news in the advance countries are different from the ones in the developing countries. The sanctions that against bad broadcasting in the world is not really utilize mostly in the developing countries so media houses do things the way they like.
Broadcasting is a way of marketing the country's image so what comes out from the broadcasting room always supposed to be legit because people move about with the information gotten from the media house. But for the Mexico case, to some extent pre-information is good the visitors that are going to the country for the very first time, so that they would know how to move about.

Ecuador was able to play in the previous world cup, but they will probably not be able to qualify for this one as they got a 3 points penalty from FIFA.

Ecuador will play at this year's World Cup in Qatar after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Tuesday said Byron Castillo, whom Chile claimed was ineligible to play during the qualifiers, was deemed an Ecuadorean national.

Ecuador will, however, get a three-point deduction at the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup and must also pay a fine of 100,000 Swiss Francs ($101,605.36) for the "use of a document containing false information," CAS said.

It seems pretty strange that they got away with only just 3 points deduction and being able to play in the previous world cup.

I mean, this shows that Ecuador indeed did the wrong thing, but apparently it was too late to make changes.

I checked with Asian zone have added about 8 countries or national team will get automatic ticket playing for FIFA World Cup, will have bigger chance because our national team success qualify to Asian Cup in this years and I hope can success at qualify for
FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States will begin for several months later.
If the official PSSI is still money-oriented and power-hungry, that look hard for Indonesia to go to the next world cup in 2026. Right now, the official is still busy preparing the Election chairman of PSSI. and they forget about world cup 2026 preparation, they forget also if the plan to qualification is not easy and needs much time to prepare to select the player, coach, and new talent.

So, I don't expect too much, that looks impossible if you hope to qualified. Indonesia's Team is the same as before, don't have motivation as a participant, because the loss is a habit, and the official is never thinking about how to receive achievement, next world cup 2026 I am still pessimistic that Indonesia is still a spectator.
It is true that the PSSI management from the past until now have only thought about their personal interests and have only been busy enriching themselves by becoming members of the PSSI management.
They don't care and think about the fate of the Indonesian national football team, all they care about is the best way to earn some money by taking advantage of their position as PSSI members and there are always problems in seizing power in becoming the general chairman of PSSI.
If this situation continues, it will only be a joke if Indonesia can survive and participate in the upcoming World Cup. Not to mention that it will be difficult for Indonesia to win the World Cup in the Asian Cup.
So it will only be in vain if Indonesia participates in the World Cup because PSSI as an association or Indonesian football committee has taken no further action on this matter.

Well.. 2026 is still three years away and therefore I don't want to make any predictions. Back in 2022, Mexico reported 31,127 violent homicides at a rate of 86 murders every day. Numbers are slightly down from the 2020 and 2019 figures (94 and 95 per day respectively). Juarez on the US border is regarded as the murder capital of Mexico, and that city saw 1,045 murders in 2022 (compared to 1,420 in 2021). Ciudad Juárez isn't that big. It has a population of just 1.5 million.

My concern is that crime rate in Mexico actually went up after 2016-2017 and even now it hasn't shown any hint of slowing down. Check the murder rates by year, in the image below:

I didn't know that, thanks for that data and information.

I don't have a huge information of Mexico, so I can't share something totally assertive.

Well, another event that happened in Brazil and that many people/tourists were afraid of was related to the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. But at the end of it all, nothing extremely serious happened in this event, so this could also happen to Mexico.

As you said earlier, the world cup will only take place in 2026, so I believe that Mexico will have time to stop these types of events or at least reduce the rate of crime, homicides and others.

If the year 2026 arrives, and the level of crime/murders/corruption and others are high, I believe, FIFA will be able to reorganize the games, and the USA and Canada will continue with this event in 2026.

We had the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and it was conducted without any safety issues. The same can be said about the 2014 World Cup, which was held in Brazil. Both these countries do have very high murder rates. And in Brazil and South Africa (and in Mexico as well) the crime ridden areas are located far away from the major urban centers. On the other hand, in the United States the major urban metropolitan areas are more crime ridden when compared to the rural localities. If you are concerned about crime, then I guess you need to worry about the US more than the case with Mexico.
I know this post commenting on the current situation in Mexico was from a few days ago, but I wat to share my opinion.

@Sithara007, what you said is true, Brazil was or still is one of the most violent countries in the world, when Brazil was chosen to host the World Cup in 2014, many people were afraid about the security of that country, especially, the tourists.
But at least, everything went well during the 2014 World Cup.

I think that if the situation in Mexico gets worse over time or the crime level is extremely high just before the 2026 world cup, I have no doubt that the United States or Canada will be able to hold those games that would be in the Mexico in their countries.

I believe that one of the worst negative points in this regard will be the tourists, as there will be tourists who have bought tickets, plane tickets and even hotel advance, and at the end of the day, they will not be able to attend this great event that it's the world cup.
Well... I know that companies can reverse payments, but this will become a disappointing and delicate situation to resolve.

I hope Mexico does not face the same unjustice situation which we have been facing for the last many years.
This same thing happens in India also that made FIFA to ban India n football federation from participating in football and other similar sports because of what had ensue many years ago. I don't blame anyone for this but this most time could be as a result of insecurity that lead to the rampage causing a serious scene that had lead to sanctions.

When allocating a country that would host the world cup, there are many things that FIFA used to put in consideration in entails the safety of every athletes, hotel to lodge, security and so many other factors to prevent natural or man made disaster. No country would be happy hearing that the lives of there players was lost as a result of hist country not able to safeguard the life of their players and fans.

I agree with you, the current security issues in Mexico is not an issue at all if you ask me, this is because like you rightly stated, we still have four good years to the tournament, there is a high possibility that before then, the security challenges faced by the country must have improved.
And besides, I Think FIFA themselves knew about the security issues and still went ahead to choose Mexico as one of the three countries to host the 2026 world cup, it shows that the current security issues in Mexico is not a problem to them at all.

Also, these Mexican cartel won't be messing with any foreigners that will be around in their country during these games because surely, the respective nations will hunt them down and destroy each one of them until their whole business will turn into ash and I bet they don't want those things to happen. Besides, it's also their pride that their country will be hosting some of the World Cup games and they know that these things are rare.
I agree that Mexico may not want foreigners to have a negative experience while visiting for the World Cup, but we also can't assume that they will be able to completely prevent any crime or violence from occurring. Additionally, the idea that the Mexican government would be able to control and prevent all crime during such a large event is unrealistic. It's important to remember that crime and violence exist in all countries and it's important for visitors to take necessary safety precautions. It's also important to note that Mexico has the right to handle its internal issues and it's not fair to assume that other countries should intervene

Yes, it is indeed unrealistic believing that the Mexican government can handle the situation well and prevent such things from occurring in the said event because they can't even handle the chaotic cartels inside their jurisdiction, what more about these said events? Well, I'm also one of the hundreds of thousands of people that is hoping that there won't be any chaos during these games.

Quote

If the issues are just an internal problem that are occurring almost every day, then indeed, the Mexico has every right to handle and solve the situation. But these things will change if there's an unfortunate event that a foreigner will be involved in such disaster, the countries will do everything on their power to intervene and to help solve the case as soon as possible. Truth is, this is not new anymore because there's a lot of documentaries about these stuffs.

Well, from the point of view that people experienced different types of situations, it is something that did happen, but I also think that people who enter a country they don't know should at least read its rules, the things they like or the things they they should and should not be done, so we know that this country of Qatar is a country with very strict rules, and that one as a visitor must abide by the rules, so every person who wanted to do what they wanted cannot because they simply cannot Getting to do whatever is like going to a neighbor's house to give orders, when you already know that in that home there are rules and regulations to follow.

I believe that the rules of the countries are not something to worry about in the 2026 World Cup.
First, because they must be much more flexible or tolerable than the rules that were imposed in the World Cup in Qatar.
Second, because in a world cup scenario and moment, the rules tend to be a little more flexible for visitors, as it would be very bad for countries if they strictly applied fines and prisons to each breach of their rules.

I did some research, and the most intriguing law I found was one for Canada that says it's illegal to make very large snowmen Cheesy
So, specifically on the streets of the port city of Souris, on Prince Edward Island, no competition for the biggest snowman. Because on land on street corners snowmen cannot be more than 76.2 cm in height

I don't know how many people would agree with me, but IMO Qatar 2022 was a disaster. Obviously the Qataris were able to splash all their wealth and many of the westerners were in awe. But then, the fans were left high and dry with all the restrictions. What is the point in having a major tournament like this, if the fans can't relax and enjoy themselves? There was this last minute restrictions on alcoholic beverages. And the Qataris very cunningly announced it just two days before the first match, to make sure that all the fans have already booked their ticket. And then there was extreme discrimination against unmarried couples and LGBT people. I just hope that FIFA will never allow regressive countries such as Qatar to host such tournaments in the future.

Yeah, there were organizational issues, but the tournament itself, the football, was quite entertaining.

It was a great tournament, with lots of talented people, and many surprises.

I enjoyed watching it a lot.

It depends from which side are you looking at the World Cup 2022. If you watched it on a TV from your home, everything was great and most of the games were interesting. However I'm sure that fans that were stopped in the airport because they didn't get their visa on time. There was a situation where two guys payed almost $3000 for a game and airplane ticket to go to one game. One guy got his visa and the other guy didn't get it in time. The guy without a visa got stopped from entering a plane in Frankfurt, Germany and his friend didn't want to go alone. In the end not only have they lost $3000, they had to buy another plane ticket to get home from Frankfurt.

And then there were those discriminate situations where something that is normal in "our" world was forbidden in Qatar, but I won't go into that.

You are definitely right, but I am also wondering, where does one get the rules of a country they just entered, to read?, is there a place in the airport where rules guiding the country is written for incoming tourists or immigrants to read and get themselves acquainted?
I think it would have been more appropriate to say that before anyone start making plans of moving or visiting another country, they should try to find out the rules that govern such a country, and make sure to write the rules down for themselves so that they can easily pick it up anytime and scan through it to remind themselves of one of two things they might have forgotten, most especially, for countries where rules are enforced with stringent order.

Though for me, it will take something really important for me to travel to a country where I am not comfortable with their rules.
