So I have got all my risers and I am trying to do 4 1080ti's on one board with 2 risers.

So that is 10 6/8 pin connectors.  I only have 8 and a 1000W  PSU.   Two of those 8 cables have this kind of cable on it.  WHen is it ok to use this kind of cable.  Can you power one 1080 ti off this cable?
I tested it on an older card and I worked I dunno what kinda power it draws though but it required an 8pin and a 6pin.

My risers are these  https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aliexpress.com%2Fitem%2FUpdated-New-USB-3-0-PCI-E-Express-1x-Extender-Riser-Card-Adapter-SATA-6-PIN%2F32819031074.html&h=ATNjbNrZld8_ZY3wO7SEjlUCp6uV1rVMf0bV4Ozd2RjnMO29kHyjvhTHHg10oV-qmjvGRBlhX4skXRKlDfYGUyzjtNbpz0Rx0PE8jI7PGYcf1nKWpiRZDPkfFxHlk8QhLteMeGieEzw

They come with this kind of cable.  Which I understand is not powerful enough to power 1080ti in a riser.

Would this work instead? My only worry is that I will only be able to power one riser this way becuase both PSU's I have only have 125w accross teh +3.3v and +5v rails or do the perifial cables also run on the +12V main rail? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1PC-New-PCI-E-6-Pin-to-2X-4-Pin-Dual-4Pin-Graphics-Video-Display-Card/32731993629.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_5_10152_10065_10151_10068_10084_10083_10080_10082_10081_10110_10136_10137_10175_10111_10060_10112_10113_10155_10114_5360016_10154_438_10056_10055_10054_10182_10059_100031_10099_10078_10079_10103_10073_10102_10189_10052_10053_10142_10107_10050_10051,searchweb201603_1,ppcSwitch_7&btsid=b7415050-1ce1-4113-b92c-ee351b891843&algo_expid=64f036fc-17d0-4aa3-83ed-2f5bee714d41-1&algo_pvid=64f036fc-17d0-4aa3-83ed-2f5bee714d41

Appreciate any help as I am running a whole extra rig that I dont need to run.

If you have those risers (v6?) - the one with PCIE molex, you could get that Y cable with 2 x 6+2 pins.

That will save you having to use an extension to access SATA power.

I have used both PCIE molex and SATA powered PCIE extension on my Aorus 1080ti and Zotax AMP Extreme without any issues.

Best settings for ZEC mining on msi aero 1080 TI / White gigabyte 1080 TI / asus 1080 TI grey https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAB945VV4191&cm_re=asus_1080_TI-_-14-126-188-_-Product

Have had to work a ton of OT lately / been consolidating mining gear / moving it around, however i have 8 TI's operational(ish) tdp 70% hovering around 610 sols

If they are semi stock clocks etc they will clock better than already clocked ones.  My EVGA FE editions can do +200 core and had them upto 600 mem.  Those clock teh highest.  I have some EVGA SC Black.  They do +125 and having really pushed the memory yet but have done at least 300.  I am guessing I can go higher than 125 also but I have not pushed them.

Aorus cards generally wont go over 60-100 for core but memory will clock pretty high.  THink I had my over 650.

Just google your card.  Or push it up slowly.  If they have stock clock 14-1500,  you will likely be able to get 100-200 out of them.  Please be careful when clocking though.  Just take what I have typed as a guide and be conservative and google what other people have got with those cards.  Bare in mind alot of results you may find on google will be power levels overclocked and sometimes even core voltage so you need to weed those ones out.

Converted my stock RX470s 6xGPU TB85 to the 12xGPU Biostar TB250-BTC PRO
Got it to work with 11 GPUs on smOS.
Will continue to trouble shoot after dinner and test with nvOC with 12 x Zotac 1070 Mini -- cant wait.
If I have time I will try the 2 Claymore instances/windows with RX470 and 1070s; 6 x GPUs in each session in Windows.\

Be a bank
afaiu there is a backlog with hardware wallet shops now and it would be hard to get one in before Aug 1st - don't take my word for it, if you can get one in time, great.
(btw i don't recommend them anyway, but that's offtopic here)

the main thing is not to spend any bitcoin just before and for a good while after any split.

some software wallets have announced their plans re splits already.

afaik no exchanges have done so yet - that is dangerous territory anyway

would be nice to know nicehash's plans...

found this helpful https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-handling-splits-uasfs-bip148-etc-2012799 [Guide] Handling splits: UASFs, BIP148, etc. esp this part:

What should I do to secure my bitcoins?

First of all, remove all bitcoins possible from banks/exchanges/"hosted wallets". If you can't export your private keys, then you don't actually control the bitcoins. This is a good idea in general, but it's especially important in case of splits. If you're using a Bitcoin bank, then you will have no control over what happens to your coins. Quite possibly, the bank will end up stealing/losing one of the currencies that you should have access to, either through greed/malice or technical incompetence, and the currency they throw away might well be the only one that ends up having any long-term value.

Possible splits are usually predictable some time in advance (see the next section). If in doubt, avoid sending transactions or trusting received transactions 12 hours before and up to a few days after the split time, and check the forum for more news. If a major split happens, I will very likely make a post and news item explaining how to handle the situation. Coins at rest are not at risk.

Generally, after a split:

 - If you want to completely ignore (ie. discard) one of the currencies, and your wallet is already set up to ignore that currency, then you don't have to do anything.
 - If you want to completely ignore (ie. discard) one of the currencies, and your wallet is set up to support only that currency, then you might be able to change the software's settings after the split, or you might have to switch to different wallet software.
 - If you want to use both currencies at the same time or sell one of the currencies, then you will probably have to follow a somewhat-complicated series of steps possibly involving running some extra software in order to cleanly split your coins and eliminate the possibility of replay.
........
 ...........
The next time when a split is predicted to possibly happen is therefore August 1, 2017 at midnight UTC.

During that period it might be unwise to buy and sell gpus etc unless terms are very very clear.

I sent some requests for the ability for our hardware wallets (specifically ledger) to have access to both chains after the split.  Should be interesting to see if they take this on;  or I wont be using it anymore, possibly not even after the split.

Got an answer back from ledger.  They say they will add the functionality in their chrome plugin to choose what chain its operating on.  In essence, a dual-chain device now.

Interesting.  Waiting to see if they have a timeframe for the functionality to be available...

*edit* I just got the response...

"It should be happening in the coming weeks, the next or the week after basically depending how early Segwit2x activation goes"

Excellent.  This leave some easy options for guys like me who can't exactly download/maintain a blockchain because i'm on a cellular link at near all my sites....

do you have a ledger link to purchase one?
I had no idea such a thing existed...   Is it like a discount/promo code or something?

I like my ledger.  Holds the cold storage =)  Mine was a gift from my mother surprisingly.  She saw it on my amazon WTB list not knowing exactly what it was.

First storm, huh?  Wink

with all the fantastic returns we have had this past 2 years..... a bit of red here and there is expected

what goes up must come down -- there will be sunshine after rain...

Been mining since Nov. 2016. Largest drop in profitability i've seen in a while.

It's okay though, my XRP short will make up for it.

well just doing the math, seems we are adding 10000-12000 diff per month and with vega cumming soon, there should be some new cards to buy before those get snapped up

I don't see VEGA having a noticeable effect on ETH mining - same reason the Fury is not much used for ETH, the HBM memory latancy kills the hashrate.
I DO see a high probability of VEGA being a good mining card for some OTHER stuff though, like ZEC.

For the small windows - build an air box around them, probably need to use 2x6 or so, with the box being a little larger than the size of your fans - no need to get fancy.
Then cover the end of the box with plywood, and cut a hole in it to fit the fan.
Your airflow is still going to be limited by the size of the windows though - and 28 GPUs is probably still going to run pretty hot even if you use a high-end gable fan (there are 16" gable fans rated for 3000+ CFM, and they're designed to handle SOME backpressure in most usage.

The Rotron fan Phil linked should be a good, reliable unit - I've had Rotron fans go 20+ YEARS in 24/7 usage without issues, and I've got ONE of them that's pushing 35 years old now, and just STARTING to see some bearing wearout problems.[ b]I just don't think 455 CFM is going to be nearly enough to handle the number of GPUs you're talking about.[/b]

you are right  but he has 2 windows  so 2 of the 10 inch fans may do it.

The Rotron fan Phil linked should be a good, reliable unit - I've had Rotron fans go 20+ YEARS in 24/7 usage without issues, and I've got ONE of them that's pushing 35 years old now, and just STARTING to see some bearing wearout problems. I just don't think 455 CFM is going to be nearly enough to handle the number of GPUs you're talking about.

There is quite a bit of wisdom and experience in this thread, so I'll ask for some guidance.

I have around 10 GPUs in my garage, which will be 28 soon. The garage has two small windows (both 8-inch x 13-inch). I need to put some exhaust fan on one of the windows, but it's too small to fit a large enough window fan.

I'm trying to find a way to make a cone or some kind of air duct tunnel that will attach to 16 inch radius window fan on one end and to 8x13 window opening on the other end, with some efficient exhaust. Any ideas how to make such apparatus? Semi rigid air duct? what to use for end attachments? Any ideas?

you need to shoot a photo or 2

there are some good ten inch fans around

I would  show you links  give me time

Going to sell some BTC today... Most of it to cash. But for some of the fractions I'll get some alt-crumbs. Already own a few Sia and DGB, but curious to hear what some knowledgable people here would recommend with the upcoming forks...

Maybe zer and uno

Zer is on a New Zealand exchange

Uno is on bittrex.

I have 548 in ebucks to spend by August 2.

Was going to get one more 1080 ti.

I may get three bars of silver instead.

I cashed 1.3 btc in.

I am updating an empty core 11 wallet to a core 14.
It should synch by Tuesday.

It is on a Mac mini.
Once it synchs I will clone it with super duper.  Boot the clone and check that it works.

Put 2 btc into that wallet.  Since it seems that I could be on both sides of the fork with a core wallet.

May be some free coin after the fork if I do this.
