There is a big difference between being 5th and having 4 point difference, and being 10th and having 4 point difference to top 4. I mean in one of them you need to check your back and you can just win as many as you possibly could but have a leeway because you are already ahead of everyone else, but when you are 10th, you need to not only close the gap of 4 points, but you also need to pass everyone else in between as well and they could win and match up with you as well.
In a case where all the top 4 loses 2 games in a row, they slot 6 points each, so if Lyon ends up getting 2 wins they are better than the 4th right? Well, what happens if somewhere between 4th and 10th end up winning 2 games as well? That is why they should not feel easy about having only 4 point difference, that will not make too much difference in the long run for now.

Today lyon team have a huge chance to get the three points and make their second consecutive win they will be facing saint etienne a team struggling and not been able to get points in the last six games they had consecutive losses i think lyon will win easily today.
The match was tough for Lyon, but they managed to win again scoring the penalty kick which was given to them. I literally thought the game was going be an easy winning, but Saint Etienne had a good defense. While Lyon ended the game with a goal.It was a tough match for both the teams as both of them haven't been on their best of forms but a win is a win and Lyon won it.
Even though it was from a spot-kick from Moussa Dembele on the 15th minute, but it was enough for them to get the win and it will surely give them a big morale boost that they needed so badly. With this win, they are still in 10th position but the thing is that they have only 4 points gap from being in the top 4, so would I be a bit much optimistic if I said that they can try to end the season in the top 4?

Since I am a PSG fan I look forward to the PSG match. PSG is the strongest team in Ligue 1. So, as usual, I am expecting PSG to win today's match. My guess is that PSG will win 2-0. The Reims are already weak, but many of their key players will be missing in today's match. Players such as Ghislain Konan, Moreto Cassama and El Bilal Toure are now in Africa for AFCON. Azor Matusiwa, Valon Berisha and Marshall Munetsi are out due to injuries. I am not expecting a good performance of Reims in this match. I honestly think that this is the bottom Lyon finally reached. From a team that dominated the league for many many years (7 years in a row) to a team that ended up in the 10th place thanks to a win right now is a big drop, a huge drop. I know Lyon hasn't been champions in the last the last 10+ years but just 5 years or so ago they were second, and only a few years ago they were third, so they were always around at the top even if they didn't win.
These years they do not even have that anymore and looking like a bottom team, even if they managed to get better, how better could they realistically get? I do not think that they will have a top three finish, at the very best I see them barely going to europa by the end of the season and that is not good enough at all, they should be able to go to a lot better places and rank higher with the type of money they have.
Lyon is not alone in this all case we have good history of many clubs across Europe with this same problem they were dominant and suddenly lack of money and some management issues bring them down very badly like recently we can check into Bundesliga where two top quality teams currently struggling very badly, and we have in French League as well as Monaco is also facing very bad time just because of having not good enough players for competing into top teams.These years they do not even have that anymore and looking like a bottom team, even if they managed to get better, how better could they realistically get? Right now, Oil money is coming in some clubs, and they are changing many things very quickly now we have not good quality players from academies they are paying and bringing players for having a good number of trophies, so we are now losing quality just because of money for trophies.
The thing about football right now is that - the club with more money will excel at everything. If you have no money, you won't gain money as you won't have the better players to give you the results which will lead to gaining revenue. This has become a loophole.
If you look at teams like Lyon, Monaco, or teams of that sort who once were one of the better teams in the past, they are struggling very hard just because they are not getting the investments like the bigger clubs. And for that management issues occur and thus, the team fails to perform and get consistent results.

In today match surely Lyon need to do some good number of goals as now they are having some better results and joining into top 10 teams of French League but still very long way to go for them because their performance is very low from their standard, and they need to improve this in next few weeks for better results in this league. St Etienne is currently second-worst team in this French League, even their start was very good, but they completely fail to have momentum and now staying at bottom of French League with going into Ligue 2.Tomorrow we have another very interesting match between Brest vs Lille with current form Lille has good chance to win the match and jump some more above from their current spot.

Lyon maintained their unbeaten series by defeating St Etienne today. They won by Dembele's penalty goal and they would have scored more goals too. Maybe it was a risky score but St Etienne still weren't able to resist them in any way. They couldn't find many chances and got another deserved loss. In case they keep going like this, they will be relegated from the league for sure. And it was a crucial win for Lyon. They have still a chance for the 5th place at worst as the gap is only three points.
Sadly for saint etienne all fingers point to their relegation this season they lost their last six consecutive games and they are in the last position with just two games won. on the other hand lyon did a good job getting the three points but their performance is not that great they are wasting many goal chances and they honestly lack a good striker if they want to get one of the top spots they need to bring new players. The only game today is Lyon - St Etienne. Lyon are the absolute favourite side here obviously. And I see that both teams are lacking so many players. Anyway, I still believe that Lyon will win this game very comfortably. St Etienne are the worst team in the Ligue 1 now. They are at the last place in the standings now and they were able to win only 2 times in 20 games which is really horrible. I can't say that Lyon are doing well but they are in a much better condition at least. They won their last game and they can maintain a win streak by this one.

After a five-week break, Lyon finally won a match. Before this victory, they lost one match and got draws in all of their last four matches too. They were in need of a win and made it against Troyes today. Maybe it was a hard-fought win by 1-0 but Lyon still performed much bigger which was really important. Lyon are still struggling to climb to the upper positions in the standings. They are just far away from their effort in the past season. They should be happy even if they make it to the 5th position at the end of the season. They can at least join the ECL by doing it.
You are right, Lyon made a good effort and I think that if they continue with that perseverance they can easily reach 5th position, also Marseille does not see life because they have been obtaining very bad results, really those who are good with players and everything is the PSG, but I don't know if this year they will break when the player market begins, if Mbappé goes to Real Madrid or not, if Messi will finally take over the leadership of the team or leave everything in the hands of Neymar Jr?
