The competition to win a place in the Champions League is more interesting in the Ligue 1, because PSG is too dominant in the race for trophies, a number of competing clubs will not be able to pressure PSG to lead the standings. It's a shame to see Nice, they are now experiencing setbacks after competing with PSG at the start of the season. Monaco and Brest are competing for the second spot while PSG trying to confirm the title before a couple of rounds. There Marseille that are pushing their way up and Nice that lost control totally on their results!

Lille still has a chance to qualify for the Champions League next season, so they will really fight for that until the end of the season. So far there are at least 6 teams still fighting to qualify for the Champions League and that includes Lille, Lens, Nice, Marseille, Brest and Monaco. These teams have a low points gap and they still have a chance to secure a position in the European zone including the Champions League.

PSG is safe to be considered to have qualified for the Champions League, in fact I no longer think PSG will face a real threat of losing their title this season after they managed to lead the standings with a gap of 10 points above Brest. PSG are title favourites, that has allowed them to get better focus on the Champions League this season.

Monaco won away with a single goal. Strasbourg haven't won for 8 weeks and have fallen into the relegation zone. They now need to do something if they want to stay in the league. Yesterday, Strasbourg lost against Monaco and we can say that we are entering important weeks for Strasbourg. Monaco increased their points tally to 45 with this win and moved up to 3rd place after Lille's draw.
Lille failed to beat Rennes in a tough encounter. The away team Rennes started the match quickly. Rennes scored in the first minute and increased the difference to 2 in the 20th minute. Lille, who entered the last minutes in a stressful way, managed to get a draw by scoring 2 goals with Jonathan David in the last 8 minutes.

Marseille is having their positive outbreaks. They just started another winning streaks of three games in a row, but last time they did it when they recovered from the bad start into the season, it was followed by another few weaker games. But Lens and Lille have shown some weaker games and now I think Marseille is looking at the UEFA competitions again. It was out of the question that they could reach it when they were still at the bottom of the table and nobody understood what was going on with them. They are still playing against Lille, Nice and Lens, which means they can make these teams drop more points and the Champions League qualification phase position on rank 4 is possible again.

PSG-Reims ended in a 2-2 draw. The match was exciting and all the goals came in the first half. This could mean that Mbappe departure from PSG will not take the Ligue 1 trophy away from them, unless next season there is a surprise team that can break PSG dominance, as Leverkusen did against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. It is very reasonable why Ligue 1 is so easy for PSG, with the financial strength they have, PSG can build a squad containing star players. Meanwhile, Mbappe departure could change many things about their transfer policy, in which PSG management will prioritize potential young players to recruit.

Luis Enrique has a wealth of experience to make a team appear solid, not only in Ligue 1 but in the European Champions League too. Retaining the manager for the next few seasons can increase PSG chances of achieving success in the Champions League. If last summer Luis Enrique didn't have much time to prepare and recruit new players, next season transfer window is the best momentum to reorganize the team, because he is no longer bothered by the issue of Mbappe leaving again.

But only a draw from PSG against these other teams doesn't mean they had a bad performance in that game.
