Considering the fact that PSG no longer has a superstar player in their squad, in the name of Kylian Mbappé, this is a deserved victory and aren't a narrow win, Girona on their side isn't a small club either, at the end of a game, it doesn't really matter how many goals you scored to win that match but what is most important is that you took that three points home and which PSG to be able to join the likes of other big team who won their matches, taking you for instance,

PSG tried everything to win the game and they finally won with an own goal from Gazzaniga, PSG were dominating the game but found it hard to score. But it doesn't really matter how many goals the winning team scored or not but what matters is who won the match and as PSG won, they'll be taking all three points. This match isn't in the french league but the champion league and every team in the champions league wants to play very well. Don't underestimate any small teams in the champions league as they're there to frustrate the big teams and that's why I like the way Bayern Munich destroys any small teams that they meet to teach them how to respect big teams.

Paris Saint Germaine were able to secure a 1:0 narrow win against Spanish side Girona last night in their UEFA Champions League opener - a result that ensured they join the list of other clubs that picked all three points from their first match in the competition. Considering how Barcelona convincingly defeated Girona last weekend in Girona's home turf, should we say PSG's narrow win against their visitors last night was a poor result? Will the kind of performance we saw from the French champions last night be enough to help them go far in the UCL this season? Or are we expecting another poor European campaign from Luis Enrique's men

These matches in the Champions League at least give us an insight and a glimpse of PSG's real ability outside of their league where they have no competitors, so the result they showed yesterday may not be that good, but I think we need more than one match to understand and speculate how far they can go this season. I think they will 100% make the playoffs, but how they will perform there is not clear yet

Congratulations to Paris Saint Germaine on there first victory on the champions League, it was a narrow win indeed because they almost draw to Girona if not for there late goal they scored on the 90 minutes, so perhaps they should thank Gazzaniga because if not for him they wouldn't have won the match.

There are few matches I'm interested on that's currently playing which is Monaco against Barcelona but is unfortunate for Barcelona because they are losing 2:1 to Monaco and the way I'm seeing it Monaco has collected there three points because there is no much time for Barcelona to equalise, while Atalanta and Arsenal is currently playing 0:0 on this 87 minutes.

It doesn't matter about the narrow win that PSG got from the match against Girona, what matters most is the three points that's what is more important and despite the tough game they played against Girona but PSG is doing very well and we shouldn't use because they didn't score more goals as we expected them to since Barcelona were able to score more goals when they met Girona in the La Liga. Since PSG started with a win it means they also have the champions league at heart and will try their possible best to go far in the competition even though winning it might be a bit difficult due to the setting of the champions league this season. I don't think Luis Enrique's men will will have a poor European campaign this champions league season, besides they didn't even performed badly in last champions league games so I believe that with the energy they've got this season it's gonna take them far.

Yes At least it can improve the quality when PSG and maintain their quality in the Domestic League and the Champions League because PSG is no longer dependent on their star players who previously had to focus on Mbappe, Enrique will definitely need a figure who can provide a role that is at least prominent and able to bring good changes in any aspect, the victory over Girona that without Mbappe PSG was able to win this important match to continue to be consistent at least PSG still has Ousmane Dembélé and Asensio, B. Barcola..
so far they are still performing well. not only Barcola and Dembele who are currently the top goal scorers for PSG this season. but there is also Joao Neves who is currently the top Assist in Ligue 1.
maybe it won't be easy for PSG in UCL. but I have high hopes for Enrique's tactics in every match to maximize every opportunity to win. they will still be able to compete.

With several players who can score goals for PSG, then at least it is proof that PSG plays as a team and does not rely on just one player. Of course, this is something very good for  them to be able to maintain good performance and results in every match. Because ofcourse,  when they can play as a team and even though the coach rotates players, then of course the team will still play and make good results in every match. But even so,  PSG should not be too complacent about this winning streak,  because of course PSG still has to stay focused, especially in the Champion League to get  better results than previous seasons.

PSG was just fortunate to get three points. The mistake by Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga gave them the victory. The French side had a good night with a massive twenty-six shots on target, but only five were on target. From what I saw yesterday, a club like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barcelona will defeat the Parisians convincingly. This might just be one of those difficult matches for the club, but  Luis Enrique should know that the duration of his job will depend on his performance on the UCL. This is why he needs to devise the right technical strategy and motivational tools to bring out the best in his boys.
I agree that PSG late win over Girona was purely due to luck, although technically Enrique squad played better. Girona played with extraordinary ambition, they wanted to record an impressive journey in the historic first match, so PSG had trouble dictating the course of the match. Without Mbappe, it was evident that PSG attack line could not convert opportunities well, that was very clear. Of course Enrique must apply a different strategy in the next match, in order to win more easily, although we know that the opponents they will face in the future are quite difficult to beat.

Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munchen and Man City can clearly make PSG suffer, Enrique is faced with enormous pressure. However, if PSG are able to qualify for the last 16, they deserve to be considered this season, considering that the 4 teams I mentioned are tough opponents. Enrique future is certainly closely related to PSG journey in the Champions League, his position could be removed if PSG are eliminated too early.

They dominated the game, but they couldn't penetrate deeper into Girona's defense. Just imagine they made a total of 26 attempts and only 5 of them were on target, that's a percentage that I think is bad for Paris Saint Germain. Even if Girona's players didn't score an own goal I think they would have drawn. They were lucky enough in this match because they managed to secure 3 points even though it was an own goal. I'm starting to feel that they are not fully ready to be in this Champions League. They will face a better club, if they do the same thing again as in this match, I don't think they will be free from the bad results they will receive. I don't mean to belittle them, but this is my assessment when watching their first match in the Champions League.

Honestly, PSG really played well, and they deserved the victory. I was really very happy for them as they ended the game 1-0, despite the fact that I am not a PSG fan. With the number of chances PSG had, if they were able to convert those chances into goals, it would have been a different story. However, Girona played beyond my expectations. I was not expecting them to give PSG such a tough time before PSG won the game. The way PSG is currently playing, I don’t think they will have any problems qualifying for the next round. In fact, it is possible that they may not even lose a match. All their players are currently doing so well. When Mbappé left PSG, I thought their performance might drop, but honestly, they are maintaining their standard.

I think PSG was not dependent on Mbappe once Enrique joined this team because he made PSG to have much better teamwork than they had before and he was the one who made this team to fill the place of Mbappe in PSG without even hiring any other expensive superstar player while the whole team was worried about Mbappe leaving PSG.
However, the fact about PSG is that we should see the performance of this team in the Champions League because that's the tournament where they could never get any achievement.

Paris Saint-Germain played very dominantly when hosting Girona in last night's match, they had a lot of opportunities by launching 26 total shots, unfortunately only 5 were on target. 1 hit the post, 1 big chance. unfortunately, in this match Asensio, Barcola, especially Fabian Ruiz played underperform. Enrique should have played Joao Neves instead of benching him. Kolo Muani performed better than Asensio, maybe because Asensio was having problems with his fitness. I don't know for sure, because he was replaced in the 39th minute. Well, the only goal was scored due to a mistake made by the Girona goalkeeper. Well, Enrique has homework to correct his players. especially, their front line. even though they dominated the course of the match, their strikers were unable to break through Girona's goal. PSG's gameplay is correct, it just needs players who are ready to always break through the opposing team's goal. this is the next job, so that in the next match they can do it well. in Ligue 1 I am sure PSG will not have a big problem with their opponents, in the Champions League PSG will visit Emirates Stadium, Arsenal's home ground. not an easy opponent for Enrique's team, especially Arsenal playing in front of their supporters. let's just wait and see, PSG's performance in the next match in the Champions League.

After previously PSG was considered the most perfect team when they gathered many star players in their squad, Neymar, Messi, Mbappe and Donnarumma became one of the forms of ambition of PSG owners in building the strongest team in Europe, but what we thought before was inversely proportional to what we have seen so far, their greatness has only increased in Ligue 1 while in European competitions such as the Champions League of course they are not a team has a better mentality and ability to compete with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Madrid so far, losing Mbappe this season has ended the star era owned by PSG, but so far we still seen their performance seem more compact and inclined to play attractively as a team in Ligue 1, but the 0-1 victory over Girona in the UCL with an opponent own goal actually shows that the loss of Mbappe makes their attacking line quite dull this time, I personally would never doubt that they will continue to dominate Ligue 1 this season, but I think PSG fans expect more to see their team win the Champions League trophies than just win Ligue 1 this season and the squad PSG currently has will not be able to fullfil their fans wishes

My prediction for tomorrow's game

Nice - Saint-Etienne

Saint-Etienne come into this game more confident because in the last game they beat Lille, while their opponent, Nice, comes into this game unmotivated because they lost in the game against Olympique, in a game in which they were playing against 10 Olympique players since the 75th minute and still failed to score at least 1 goal. Which shows a great weakness in the attack, but Nice's luck is that Saint-Etienne has the worst attack in Ligue 1, in 4 games they have only managed to score 1 goal.

Nice has the following injured players: Gaetan Laborde, Hicham Boudaoui, Morgan Sanson, Terem Moffi

Saint-Etienne has the following injured players: Anthony Briancon, Augustine Boakye, Ibrahima Wadji, Mahmoud Bentayg

Nice possible starting lineup:
Bulka; Ndayishimiye, Bombito, Dante; Clauss, Rosario, Ndombele, Bard; Cho, Guessand, Boga

Saint-Etienne possible starting lineup:
Larsonneur; Appiah, Batubinsika, Abdelhamid, Cornud; Davitashvili, Moueffek, Ekwah, Amougou, Cafaro; Stassin

Nice will win

We have seen in previous seasons how financially sound the PSG club is. But in their obsession with buying quality players they forgot that their club did not have a quality manager, by the time they realized this it was too late and a lot of money had been spent. Currently there is no significant star in PSG but we are not noticing much change in PSG's performance.

Mbappé was there last season, so the strength of their team last season was slightly higher than this season, but considering the performance of the matches PSG has played so far this season, there is no chance to say that PSG is performing worse this season than last season. PSG will continue their performance in the local league but the Champions League tournament could be a problem for them. Because the Champions League tournament is not as easy as the local tournament, if you want to survive there, you have to compete hard, which may not be possible with the current team of PSG.
Yeah, they are getting better results without Mbappe right now, but that doesn't mean that Mbappe was a problem for them, it's clear that Enrique didn't play Mbappe in some games to see what they should do, and they are still spending 100+ million more than other teams and they are still more than twice than any other team in valuation as well. So, it is not really a big deal at all.

I believe that the best thing to do for them is to keep spending money to stay the best and they build a good team and they could do fine. Plus, getting UCL is a very important thing and they are aiming for that, they had a very tough win but they did get a win and that is getting a great result, right now it is clear that we are seeing them getting the win so it wouldn't be a big problem at all.

I believe that they are going to do better this season, Mbappe wasn't an issue, but just because he is missing that doesn't mean that they are going to have any trouble.

It should not be too much of a benchmark because every match depends on the conditions and does not mean that when Barcelona won against Girona with a landslide score and PSG only managed to win with a thin score it indicates that PSG is still below Barcelona. This concept does not apply in modern football as it is today. We realize that in the end Barcelona have a very good performance now and of course being in the same league makes Barcelona know better when facing Girona than PSG.

When Barcelona are considered higher than PSG because they can beat Girona with a bigger score maybe there should be another comparison where previously Monaco won badly against Barcelona and that is inversely proportional to Monaco's dominance which is still below PSG in Ligue 1 every season.

The main mistake I see in PSG is just lack of focus and too hasty. We can see again how PSG always fails in front of Girona goal while PSG had a lot of opportunities but did not dare to take the risk to try to get closer to the goal.
However, I admit that PSG was very lucky to get 1 score and also very lucky to have a very solid defense because Girona attacked several times but PSG defenders were able to withstand the attacks.
Enrique must evaluate the weaknesses of PSG attack line. Because for me it was a bad performance at home and especially in the attack line that used a very bad playing style.
It's obvious that they need Mbappe, they should sign back Mbappe. Tongue

I don't see a problem in PSG, if you check the eleven players, they're all great players. Their squad are better than Manchester United, Chelsea, Leverkusen, Udinese, Dortmund etc, so if they can't win in Champions League, it means they have a bad chemistry or bad manager.

PSG's first UCL game of the season kicks off in less than 20 minutes from now and I expect them to start their campaign with a win against Spanish side Girona
Yes, they did the win, they won the UCL match against Girona with only score 1 - 0.

But unfortunately in that match, it was quite obvious that PSG's front line seemed to be less effective and sharp. even though they had 26 shots there, they could not score a single goal against Girona. in fact, the only goal was due to Girona's mistake, yes it was OG that was created. but anyway it was still a victory for PSG. honestly, they were really lucky this time.

Sad History for Girona first UCL, and luck for PSG because of that.
