He really did make a headline here in the Philippines, if you convert it to pesos that's over 350 million, he can now retire and enjoy his life since he is now on his 50, he can plan a better life for his children and grandchildren I think he is a good guy, he will definitely going to take care of that winnings.
He should take care of that and don’t live like one day millionaire. Its too risky for him since it is being televised and many syndicate knows that he won big money, its better if he will put it on a safe place and spend small money only so no one can het that money away from him easily.

You usually dont hear a janitor winning the lottery but of automotive workers or the already well off people winning their tickets to riches.
It is nice to see them winning these jackpot prizes for a change.
I just wonder how much in taxes he would need to pay to collect his winnings. Undecided
The government always like to take their cut from the winners. Embarrassed
Most local lotteries are tax free but this Filipino citizen do won up the prize on other country then most likely it would be charge up some tax which is on 12% as far as I know in Philippines.
I think its not  . I once heard a local lottery winner and he only get 80 percent of his prize due to tax and other charges   . A lottery game has a big prize so its also normal that a tax is also big plus there are rules on a lotto station that they can get some percent from the winniner if the ticket is bought on their station  .  The guy rocks , he already achieve his dreams instantly   . Hopping the same thing can happen to me as im also addicted on lottery but until now my luck still wont show  .

Hardwork and dedication is really the key.

Purchasing lottery tickets doesn't involve hardwork and dedication but the money do need to buy those tickets does. Its just really coincidence that he do won
that lottery and theres no such thing that has been favored by the entire universe for him to win because of his life status.Anyone can win even the rich ones
because we cant say positive things to him if he didn't win and do still continue to spent out money to buy lottery tickets but the good thing here
is that his wishes do came true.
But we appreciate that because he can change his life by buying lottery tickets with hopes for the family he loves, indeed it is a coincidence and luck for him and how meaningful the victory is for him and the situation will be different from what happens to someone who is rich in money, huh we here are better off taking positivity into their beliefs, this is a very good story because everyone has hope to always live in any situation if they can still enjoy it.
I cant deny that this is an inspiring story for those people who do have low-paying jobs or do migrate on other country just to have their dreams fulfilled
and now he do able to hit the jackpot and that money converted to Philippine peso is already a life changing opportunity. The winner might go home to his
country and theres no need for him to work abroad to raise up his family. The jackpot alone would already be sufficient on sustaining their lifetime if they do
manage it well.

Congratulations to this guy, I may not be able to win the lottery with that kind of amount but I'm happy to see him win it because he's deserving.

I dont think that this man is lucky but i consider him blessed.
Consider this man lucky because lottery is a game of luck and he don't have any game plans but he just continued on buying lottery tickets thinking that someday he'll win and he did.

I'm glad the guy won in the situation he was in, but it's always good to remember such circumstances like this lottery win are exceptionally rare, and most people end up losing money through gambling, though that does not mean you shouldn't gamble. It's perfectly fine to gamble if you're using money you can afford to lose, but the problem is when people start gambling money that should be used on necessities and shouldn't be spent on something like gambling. This still serves as an example of what happens in the rarest circumstances though.

In every rule, there is an exception but we also should not compare his life to us. The universe wants to make him win because of some particular reasons. If you devote your money and time with gambling, you will end up with a life completely opposite to him. Hardwork and dedication is really the key.
I agree with you. If he was made millionaire at this point of his life, there must be a good reason for that. It's just a supposition, but if his hardwork and dedication weren't rewarded during his 50 years of life, he was rewarded now through this very welcome prize.
That is why we shouldn't blame gambling: because it's an instrument of God like all the other things on the universe.

Definitly an awesome story!
I read a statistic a while back that about 60% of lotto millionairs lose all of their money during the first two years after their jackpot. Researchers say, that those people cant deal with so much money, buy big houses, cars etc. which they cant handle and affort in the long run.

But I dont think this will happen to that guy cause he already talked about giving the money to his children and grandchildren Smiley

Aside from that news about the lottery in Canada wherein one from PH got the winnings, the local lottery, also in PH, established a new millionaire in the recent jackpot draw.

Game of luck. And these guys really truly a blessed.

Just take note that, don't take that as a reason to be a lottery addict. These winners know that winning a lottery is a game of luck. They just hit it.

He deserves to win, he is a good man with a good heart a real family man, now he can rest from his old job and start fulfilling his dream and that of his family, if he will take the money to the Philippines he can enjoy life to the fullest because of that amount to over 400 million in pesos very much enough even for his grandchildren.

Don't be fooled and think that just because you are a poor person and a hard worker you should deserve to win a lottery. There are literally tens of thousands of people that are in the exact situation as yours maybe even worse. Actually I think almost everyone that plays at lotteries are in a bad situation financially because that's the kind of persons that lotteries are targeting as their players. I agree that there are certain factors that could improve your chances at winning the lottery, like law of attraction but at the end its still all about luck.

I'm glad you've made the right conclusions from this story. Indeed devoting all your money and time to gambling will hardly make you a millionaire. What you should do for earning more money is to study constantly and work hard, in the first place. And you can gamble occasionally at your pleasure, and you may win big in case of a big luck, as it happened to this guy, Vito Halasan. I'm so glad for him!

One thing I've never understood about North American lotteries- why the heck is the identity of winners revealed? Now this guy is gonna be pestered by PMs from acquaintances in the Philippines as well as people he know there in Canada. Kinda makes it harder to keep a low profile not to mention everyone's expecting and going to pressure you to "move up".

I once tried buying a lottery ticket thinking maybe I will win, after I find out I didn't. I already give up.

By then I already see that I'm far more likely to be strucked by lightning twice in my lifetime than winning a lottery.  6 digits out of 46 numbers, how am i able to win when I haven't even bought a ticket successively in my life.

But congrats to that fellow Filipino. Being a janitor abroad is never  easy. You deserve it.

It's close to impossible to win with just one ticket. Don't believe people who have a "pet" combination. That don't make it more likely they'll win. It sure does make them feel better (and important for us others betting, they won't hold up the ticket lane since they already know what numbers they'll put in).

One hell of a lucky guy to win that jackpot.

I think he really deserves it since he really dreamt about of the future of his children and grandchildren.
I rarely buy lottery tickets since i don't have that much luck in guessing numbers or even if i have my own number it still fails. lol
