I am not one to judge but every gambling addict I have meant are encountering trust issues in their relationships. It has affected them so much that they do not mind deceiving others just to be able to gamble. You see them sitting quiet and sober whenever they lose. They avoid all forms of human interactions and it affects their social and support networks. I think that anyone who is willing to speak up and intentionally seek for help will have someone running to save them.
People who are addicted to gambling will never think twice about cheating people to gain money. Gambling addicts will never think twice about cheating on their family members what they would cheat on others. I have a neighbor here who is so addicted to gambling that he doesn't earn any cash but the family is constantly taking money from his parents and wasting money by gambling.  When his parents say something, he gets angry. Constantly takes money from his mother if his mother doesn't give him money he even lays his hand on his mother.  After seeing how gambling is really harmful to a person or gambling turns a healthy life into an unhealthy environment. Play for them. Of course, everyone should refrain from such gambling so that his family's happiness and peace will be maintained and he will be able to live a healthy life.

the thing that really affects us the most when we reach the point of becoming a gambling addict is our family, that's true because whatever problems you're experiencing in your current situation are also their problems, it even becomes a reason for the trauma of one of the family members because an addict sometimes is not really aware of the things that are done or said,  they can hurt others through verbal words, why do I know? because I also have a relative who ended up being a gambling addict, I see their situation and really the most affected are those children because I notice that they are gradually becoming more distant from their parents, causing their family to be destroyed forever.

The main loss is that their financial situation will become a mess, and once their financial situation becomes a mess, it can have an impact on their family or even their friends. Also, it's not just financial, this can actually be detrimental to other things, such as relationships with each other as well as your own health. When someone becomes addicted to gambling, there is a possibility that they will experience a change in attitude and tend to become more stubborn. and of course this has the opportunity for violent arguments between people addicted to gambling and their families or friends or even other people.

When they become addicted to gambling, it is likely that they will only focus on their desire to gamble, and they may ignore everything around them, including their family, their time will probably only be spent gambling, even though they have run out of money to gamble. However, people who are addicted will look for ways to gamble again, whether by borrowing money or something else.
Then the OP is right. We experience more loss than the wins but most times when we win it covers up for all the Mutiple times we have lost, and we don't get to reminisce about the loss. The truth is it is in our nature as humas to feel regretful when we do something and failed especially when we gamble. There is no gambling that will tell me that he hasn't feel so depressed after he had loss, no matter how he tries to control his emotions there is always this wish that we should have one and it just one game that made the bet loss. We start regretting why we include that game in the bet.

Now if a gambling addict experience this depression everyday his entire life is ruin because there will be no fun and happiness until any day he wins and go for merriment. Which mean it's doing him more harm than good and it's affecting his family or people around him too.

If someone is found under this category of gambling addiction, such gambler will not only losses money, their integrity and future ambition may be at stake because they may obviously mismanaged funds with them for gambling purpose leaving other aspect of their life unplanned for against the future, people around them could hardly get tier attention or enjoy any emotional or financial benefits from them because they are being addicted.
Yes, and the direct recipient of this is their immediate family which is the spouse and the children if any, and I wonder what is their fault to be living a miserable life just because their husband/father is addicted to gambling. I think a person who is married and has a family should never get addicted to gambling because they should always have this thing in mind that if they get addicted and spend excessive amounts of money on gambling, their family is going to suffer, and who in the world would want that to happen as long as they are in their sense?

But I guess people lose their ability to think critically at points which is the reason why they don't care sometimes. It makes my heart pain when I see people being addicted to gambling and not caring about their families at all, they are left to suffer having no access even to the basic necessities of life.
I agree people become financially destitute and emotionally damaged in the grip of gambling. A rich man who is addicted to gambling becomes bankrupt instantly losing his wealth. Even with successful use it is not possible for any gambler involved in gambling luck to win continuously. People become depressed when gamblers go bankrupt as gamblers who always think about winning. An addict is not in control of himself he becomes so addicted that he does not think about his family and is always busy gambling.

Trying to take the wins from the house by force is a fight greedy gambler can't win the house is in control of the game. Why would a gambler try to win using any possible means, to an extent of wagering all his money. The endless effort of chasing loss without any result only leaves the gambling wondering about his incapabilities of winning. Hence, he'd continue, until he gets addicted. Any amount of money that gets to his way will go back to gambling. Addiction and financial loss are incomparable, but one can't get addicted to gambling without losing lots of money in the process, maybe in his venture of wining back his lost money. Since there work hand in hand, gamblers in order not to get addicted, need to be careful about financial loss. Hence self-control can limit the amount of money a gambler loses while gambling. The anxiety of losing too many puts lots of players into problem gambling. But in a literal sense, addiction is way too bad and also requires finance to get cured.
If gamblers takes the wins from the house by force, they will not have a chance as the house will takes all of their money without left. Gamblers will not realizes about their losses because their intention will be gets the money from the house so that makes them forgets to control over themselves. They will lose without any results but that doesn't makes them stops from playing gambling. They will comes back in other days just to try to recovers their lose money before and hopes that they can wins some money. When they can't realizes about that, they will becomes addiction slowly and once they are really gets addicted to gambling, they will playing gambling aggressively and will not thinks to limits their gambling activity. Their intention already change into takes the money from the house but that will be difficult because as the business owner, casino will be the winner that gets all of the money from the lose gamblers.

Casinos periodically offer gamblers some wins and sweeps it back. Another thing is that the house is assured the gambler wouldn't go more days without coming back to wager his winnings. Players have multiple permits to leave without coming back again, yet find it hard staying clear from the casino. The good choices gamblers make while gambling helps the players to be reasonable in their decisions regarding their bank roll. Most of them get worried about the lose of their money.

It's certainly known that people can't forget about their lost money. Similarly, nobody will as well forget a place that once gave them lots of money. However, these things make players to lose huge money and may become addicted. In this condition their losses will increase not just financially but emotionally. Families and friends will begin to get pained over the behavior of their loved one. Bringing more financial losses to their home in the process of delivering or curing him to a better mental state. Yes, it's right to say that gambling addiction causes more losses. Because losing our self control should be considered a big loss to any human.

It wouldn't always be about the money, there are other things that would be affected on our addictions.
The most affected ones would always be their family, they wouldn't just feel the financial problem, but also the gamblers negativity (violence and presence of the gambler).
They would spend less time for their family, and if they would most of the time they would be thinking about gambling.

Yes, financial losses can still be recovered if you really want to be serious about recovering them in a more correct way such as working or doing business to earn money, but if you lose your family it is more detrimental because family is important for our lives, they can remind us when we cross the line. , so that's why the function of the family is to always remind us not to get addicted to gambling, that's why people who are addicted to gambling always forget about their families and also on average most of their families are abandoned and neglected.

I have a friend who left his wife and children, he was busy gambling and was busy spending money with other women, so when he went bankrupt, he wanted to return to his wife and children but was rejected, besides that his family also kicked him out of the house by his parents because he has been warned to stop gambling but instead he continues to gamble, it is quite difficult to remind people who are addicted to gambling but that is why gamblers have to divide their time when gambling, don't overdo it because gambling diseases such as addiction are very detrimental not only to financial matters but many other things .

Gambling addiction has been known to be associated with serious funds loss, bankruptcy, unsettled loan involvements, properties auctioning and other irritable financial behaviors that depicts frustration and desperations from the victims.
A little more observation shows clearly other effects of such addiction to just not the addict alone, but those around them, be it friends, family or neighbors. Here are a few of them:

Negative impression on children/ dependents: His addiction can corrupt the good intentions of the younger generation looking up to him for inspiration, they may grow up to see gambling as a way of life and follow the wrong footprints.

Decrease in overall productivity of individual: Addiction reduces the value that you add to wherever you are engaged career wise as you are mostly distracted with gambling thereby reducing your commitment and dedication to your duties, this might significantly reduce the overall company productivity and lead to job loss.

health Challenges: A gambling addict is always under pressure and tension and as such is prone to health challenges like high blood pressure, depression, and on the part of his people, they might be suffering from the psychological implications of his lifestyle which includes social stigma.

violence : most gambling addicts are prone to violent behaviors owing to anger issues from much losses and this might greatly affect his relationship with his immediate family and people around him who might start seeing him as a wild animal.

your contributions are very much welcome as we learn together the many demerits of gambling addiction to inform both those currently addicted and intending addicts of the dangers of that irrational lifestyle.

OP, you were able to list the negative effects of gambling and the dangers involved in gambling, lets not forget that financial loss in gambling is one of major reason for excessive gambling which leads to addiction, it has has been said here severally that chasing of loses can make a gambler very committed because in real sense his instinct keep telling him that if he persist he might recover as time goes on and at this point he doesn't even know that he is going extreme and out of control.

Yea gambling addiction has dangerous adverse effect that's because of the expectation thats accompanied with it, that's am of the opinion that gamblers should know the exact time to stop although it is easy to to say but difficult to put into practice, lets keep open minds and make sure we don't borrow to gamble to avoid unnecessary panic and pressure.

Well, all that you have said, and all this other negative side of gambling addiction that you mentioned are all correct, and i completely agree with you, this things are not like the direct cons of being addicted to gambling, but act as the indirect cons, and in most cases, this indirect implication of gambling addiction tends to become an impact that is much more bad, than that which the person who is addicted to gambling is going through, this is why most of the time, we are advised to watch our gambling habit in order for us not to full into addiction, it sometimes is usually not completely for our sake, but for the sake of those around us, seeing how our actions and the repercaution may affect them.

All the same though, its my first time coming across this thread and indeed, i must say that this is a very good discussion, the issue of gambling addiction is something that has eaten deep into the youths of our different societies, and we cant afford to have more young people fall into the addiction, thereby destroying themselves as well as the future generation that is coming through them, this is why i believe we should never be tired of talking about gambling addiction and the dangers associated with it, this way, alot of people can learn and guide themselves in other not to become a victim.

Op that is very true, outside the financial loss gambling addiction does more harm to people, lingering from depression, mental stress, suicide, and the person might look very unorganized. addiction is not all about the financial loss individuals who are gambling addicts go through a lot in the hands of the public. There is notion that notorious gamblers are useless, and they don't think about themselves. the society often see them as those who lacks proper parental upbringing and that same warn their children not to associate with them. I could remember when i was growing up there is guy who gambles a lot in our street, and most times he visits my brother because they are very close in school and classmates, but each time he comes looking for my brother, my mother will always tell him that my brother is not around even when he knows that my brother is inside the house. And when i asked my mum the reason why she is not letting the guy inside the house she said to me that the guy is a gambler and that he is going to influence my brother negatively

You are correct, if someone very young becomes addicted to gambling he or she can erase is dreams in life and go the route of gambling thinking that it will bring them everything they needed in this world.

When things start happening in a way that they don't expect, they might not quit, they might keep pushing harder until nothing works out like they wanted, and this could change them completely, starting all over again in the real world will be so hard to do.

Gambling messed with the mind and the way we think, only if you allow it, but if you are someone who already knows the odds of getting lucky in gambling, you ain't going to ever fall under the rug for gambling, I would rather get addicted to my career in the real world, as a fashionist but not gambling.
Maybe some can erase it but there are some who don't. It's just that gambling consumes them so they don't have time anymore to work on their dreams (if it's not becoming a gambling professional). Young people still have plenty of time and they can still correct their path later on but it's not a good excuse to start it poorly.

Playing gambling in a casino can provide us entertainment and money, and sometimes love if there are women on it but it's not all. There are still other things in life that we need that can't be found in on it. To be addicted in to something even if you say it's a profitable hobby is still not right but everything in this world must have a balance.
I remember myself and how gambling took up most of my time, because I had a strong desire to make money on it, although this did not succeed. I spent a lot of time studying educational materials on betting and poker. I watched streams and tournaments and various fraudulent sports betting experts. After I tried a lot, I burned out and realized that I was wasting my young life. This does not mean that I have completely given up on this, now I only bet on sporting events of my favorite team and this is enough for me to enjoy victories. I think few people will think about this after my post until they understand it with their own minds. I think this will happen sooner or later.
You are fortunate to have realized your gambling problem early on, unlike some other gamblers who continue to gamble without realizing the harm they are causing themselves. Some even become more aggressive in their gambling habits, wasting not only their money but also their youth.

If gambling can be enjoyed then financial losses may not have a major impact. But when gambling turns into an addiction, a gambler will face a different situation as well as financial losses. The gambler will continue to gamble even after losing his money, which will affect the person to a greater extent than the loss of the money. Any addiction can affect people negatively. There will be no mistake in saying this in that direction. Addiction is certainly more harmful than financial loss. When a gambler loses financially, it can be recovered later, but the losses the gambler faces due to addiction cannot be compensated with money.
In enjoying gambling, we must be able to control ourselves well so that we don't experience too big a financial loss. Most gamblers cannot control themselves, which causes them to experience large financial losses because they have lost a lot. This is something that must be avoided because whatever money you use for gambling will only run out and you will not be able to enjoy gambling as entertainment. There will be a desire to avenge the defeat you experienced, so it will trigger you to gamble excessively. And if you gamble too much, you will only experience bigger losses and it will be difficult to recover from them. Apart from that, there will be a problem of gambling addiction that befalls you if you remain unaware of it because you are getting deeper into gambling.

The anxiety of losing too many puts lots of players into problem gambling. But in a literal sense, addiction is way too bad and also requires finance to get cured.
When you are playing against the house then dont make your hopes too high on which you would really be that making yourself that too desperate on making money on which this one would really be leading into disaster.
This is why it would really be always best that you should really be having up that kind of control if you dont like on messing up your finances because if you do then recovery would really be that hard.
Based onto those things that mentioned on OP then there's no way that we could really be able to make ourselves to avoid those things if we do really put up too much in focus with gambling.
You arent really that putting your finances at harm but also in other things as well as mentioned.

If you dont really care then you would proceed on doing gambling but if you do then you would really be neither stop or having that engagement on controlled manner.
This is why it would reallybe that best that moderation or control is always that recommended.

Playing gambling in a casino can provide us entertainment and money, and sometimes love if there are women on it but it's not all. There are still other things in life that we need that can't be found in on it. To be addicted in to something even if you say it's a profitable hobby is still not right but everything in this world must have a balance.

Any addiction has negative consequences for a person, but we are so organized that we always want more. This is what leads to problems. In my opinion, to learn how to get rid of addictions, you just need to learn to limit your desires. And to do this is actually not so difficult. I got rid of several addictions and right now I am in a struggle with myself and the desire to eat sweets, because of which my daily norm of energy value is significantly exceeded. A person is capable of a lot of things, if only the desire.

I am sure that if I had a problem with gambling, I would be able to overcome this addiction.
Well, there would be no addiction in the world if everyone were able to overcome their addictions so easily, however, that's not how it is with everyone. It requires a lot of patience and self-control for someone to be able to limit their desires or to not give up against the urges to do certain things that they like to do or are addicted to, and most human beings don't have enough self-control to be able to do that.

This is the biggest reason why so many people lose so much money in gambling because they can't control the urge to gamble and can't stop when they need to, and this leads them to bankruptcy and losing of all the assets they have simply because they don't know how they can limit the urge or have enough self-control to get out of that moment.
Overcoming gambling addiction is not an easy thing. If it is easy not many people experience gambling addiction because to stop this, they need a strong urge within themselves to stop and limit their gambling because this requires self-control and reducing it little by little. This requires time and patience for addicts, but they have to fight if they really want to stop. Don't just talk nonsense but not make any changes to stop it, because if they are determined their desires will soon come true.

Not being able to control yourself will indeed make someone experience big losses because they continue to gamble, the only reason that can make them stop is intention and determination. If they have the intention then the urge to limit themselves can become a rule that will be obeyed, it becomes can control oneself not to gamble continuously and this can slowly overcome the addiction.
