Spoiled... is a trait that rich parents instill in their children so it's no wonder why many rich children don't feel pain when they lose big money while gambling or going on a spree, but it's very different when you earn money with difficulty, you will definitely struggle to be able to use the money as well as possible and will even feel hurt if you spend the money at the gambling table.
Many great gamblers are born from those who have good money management, well it's interconnected because good money management proves that you can control your finances very wisely, you won't gamble with more money than you have.
Unlike those who are unable to control their finances, they will definitely use all the money they have to gamble until they don't have any savings left.

Therefore, it is always very important to teach your children financial literacy. This will allow them to understand that money is a very valuable and important resource that can help them earn even more. And we need to take this very seriously. We must be strict with ourselves and with children, teaching them and giving them time, and this will have its results. And rich people often do not have the time and desire to teach their children, ignoring them and thinking that if you just give them money, then everything will be in a mess.
Suddenly, I remembered my kid last year who didn't like to break his piggy bank. Since that was Christmas, I told him that he could buy new toys that he liked, after breaking the piggy bank, yet he still insisted that he didn't like to spend it on anything.
But I was wise enough and I showed him the T-shirt of his favorite game available in an online shop and so he still broke his savings.
I love that he learned how to save money and now he is doing it again.

It's true kids today just want to point their finger at new things and they think their parents will buy it even though they don't really have the savings to afford it. I taught my kids not to do that and if they want something then they better work for it. Not literal work but from their savings because I give them money as their allowance for school even though they don't need it as I also prepare them food for their lunch.
IMO, it's a good start for them to learn the importance of money, they need to also remember that money is not just picked on the streets but is being worked hard before they can receive it.
Thankfully, I am not rich, I will not just give them anything they want and I want to be there once they decide what they want to spend their money.

Some think that giving early lessons about money to children is a bad idea, but I think it is indispensable, whether we like it or not money rules our life, so if you do not have it you spend a great deal of time thinking on ways to obtain it, but if you have it then you think on ways to keep it, and people need to learn from a young age that they need to use their money in the most effective way possible, and it is obvious that someone that does not have their own income should not gamble at all.

Every parent will certainly give their children an understanding that gambling is not a good thing to do because if they are addicted to gambling, of course they will make many other mistakes because they cannot have an income and it will be very difficult to stop if they are addicted.
If children who are still in school are gambling and their parents do not tell their children about the dangers of gambling then this will be very bad because when they are still in school when they gamble, of course they don't have money because they haven't worked and their learning process at school is also disrupted. because they will be busy gambling and never think about their learning activities at school.
This is why it is better to have the boy stop gambling because he is not at the right age. Parents need to have a conversation with their children about the consequences of gambling before any unexpected actions are taken. Gambling can have many negative effects, some of which may be unknown to children. If children continue to gamble at a young age, it is uncertain what actions they may take in the future. Therefore, children should focus on their studies rather than gambling.
considering that his son is still eighteen years old, I think the gambling he took was online gambling. It's actually easy to stop gambling activities, just take the gadget that he uses for gambling activities. or we just confiscate it with a time limit until he forgets his gambling activities. Apart from providing a deterrent effect, he will also not be addicted to gambling.
It's not effective to simply take away a boy's gadget to stop them from gambling. If the boy wants to gamble, he will definitely find a way to continue even without his mobile device. Confiscating all of a child's possessions is not a solution either, as it may only lead to rebellion. Instead, it's important to have a meaningful conversation and discuss the dangers of gambling with the child to help them understand its consequences.

Advice for parents to guide their son to stop gambling by taking his son to rehabilitation or inviting him to live elsewhere. Because a child who is already familiar with gambling at the age of 20 can certainly still be guided to a better life by staying away from gambling. I mean limit his pocket money because when he has little money he can't make a deposit to gamble and that will slowly make him forget to gamble.

So the conclusion can be drawn that if his son is not yet addicted to gambling, advise him well or limit his daily allowance to a smaller amount to prevent him from gambling. Apart from that, a child aged 18+ years can still be educated well if the parents have the desire to stop their child from continuing to gamble. Yes, all actions are solely on the parents because they are the ones who are able to make the child live a better life by staying away from gambling.

If the child is 20 years old then it may not be just the parents responsibility to take care and guide them but for sure the parents are the main ones to take care and guide them

The rich children will not feel the pain until the support of their parents had loss. Many of them help their children at the hard times of gambling, the gambling need to have the support by the other sources to survive in the gambling field.
No matter the financial background, gambling is never good for children. Children have no business gambling as they should be focused on their education and finding their career path. Even the gambling companies understands this that is why it is always enshrined in their TOS that children less than a certain age are forbidden from using their services. I understand that some parents tend to provide everything their child wants even some they are not supposed to be involved in, that is the only reason a parent will support the gambling of their children who will most likely not succeed because they will approach gambling with lackadaisical attitude.

It is hardly possible for financial dependents to make good gamblers. It is like gambling with borrowed funds which never works.

I consider it a collective responsibility of both parents and teachers, the sensitization of students towards gambling isn't one to be swept under the carpet. Persistence wears the rock, this means that the persistence of the parents and a the teachers towards sensitizing the children on why they should stay out of gambling is highly unnegotiable.

A family member reported to me that her eighteen years old son has started gambling. She is not worried that he is gaming but her problem is that he is a student that solely depends on her for everything he needs. Her fear is also that her son might start stealing from her if he has no access to the money he needs to gamble. My relative has even started suspecting that some money she feels was misplaced might have been stolen by her son.

As a responsible mother she needs to be worried and that’s to show how she takes the affairs of the children very serious. If I was in her shoes, I will also feel the same and will always think the child will one day steal from the house to gamble if he runs out of money from the savings I give him. Maybe he might have another source of income that he earns some penny and can’t disclose that to the mum, I know how children can be so secretive in this so that the parents don’t reduce their monthly allowance. Already suspecting his son that he steals is already a red flag, so he needs to interrogate the child more and keep an eye on him.

Quote
I spoke to my nephew and he told me that he has never stolen from his mother to gamble. And he gambles with only his savings from his weekly stipend he receives from the family. And he won't gamble if he has no savings to do that. From my observation, he is a responsible gambler that is just enjoying the game and making a little money occasionally. The gambling age in my country is 18+, but his mother is insisting that he must stop. What will be your advice for this young boy?

The gambling age is 18+ but I still feel that it is too early for a financially dependent person to go into gambling at that early age. If he’s gambling for fun which I know he’s not, he shouldn’t use the money meant for his upkeep to do that without having an alternative source that will complement it.  I just don’t like the idea of kids gambling, it limits their ability to look for other sources of income that will be beneficial to them for a long term and not for a short term benefit game of luck.

I agree with his mother that he should stop gambling, because gambling is quite dangerous for a person if it is not controlled by oneself. Moreover, the effects of gambling addiction can unintentionally affect a person so it is better to avoid it.
A mother will definitely direct their children in the right direction and tell them the truth that gambling is not good to take too seriously because gambling is related to money, children who are still in school and still under the care of their parents definitely do not have a stable income. which they can use for gambling, so what happens when they don't have money for gambling of course they will steal and even use their school money for gambling. Don't ever try to gamble if you are still a school child you will only make things difficult for yourself, I have a friend who didn't finish school because he was addicted to gambling, he is unemployed now.

If I am to be among the parents of the boy I will not give him money anymore because he's not ready yet.
Moreover, the age of gambling is 18+ and he's just 18 years old and have no money but depending on his families to give him money and after that he's using them to gamble.
The boy is not ready to make a better life, God helps he's not addicted yet or putting his hope for winning big money that he can make living from it.

I see this option as a very strict one that might have some negative consequences. This strategy might work in some occasions especially if the cause of his addictions is because of access to funds.  It is also important to know that there are still other reasons why dependents engage in gambling.  It could be peer pressure which will not definitely be stopped by stopping his funds. These youths might seek for alternative source of funds if the parents do not identify and deal with the main cause of the gambling.

You’ve got a point on that option taking a darker path as the dependent child, not getting access to funds like he previously did and perhaps, has already taken a deep unhealthy liking to gambling as an activity, such child would be forced to acquire money any way he could possibly could including stealing from friends and family and burglarizing houses looking for valuable to pawn for cash.

I would suggest the dependent child that’s 18 to get a job and earns his own money. He would learn the value of money that way and then, might just get wise to how he handles money moving on.

It sounds like a dangerous road to walk down at that young age, when there are so many more interesting and better things to give them variety in life. They should be out making friends, playing games, socializing and traveling with that sort of money. It also makes it harder when they start getting paid work, because they've got gambling on their mind and the amount they start to plow into it may go up. If it were a family member of mine at such an age and you are around enough to influence them, really try to move them away from this and help find a new hobby - take them kayaking, get them into an MMA gym, even just going out for hikes, as they may not have many friends to do these things with and end up trapped trying to fill up their time.

Not giving the boy money is truly one of the best ways to control his gambling. Gambling requires money and when there is no money, you have no option but to stay calm.

During this time, the boy should be introduced to learning a skill or engage in activities that can aid his learning because what he needs at this age is knowledge and not money.

We shouldn't neglect the fact that maybe this gambling was copied from his parents. If this is the case, then all blame should go to his parents and so, his parents should try to hide their gambling from the child. This can control the situation.

This goes beyond gambling and digital payments to teach our youngsters how to handle life's challenges. You believe protecting them will help? Again, think. Striking a balance means teaching kids financial management and gambling's social role. We must differentiate between occasional gambling under supervision and compulsive gambling. We can't ignore it. They need to understand risk, reward, and moderation. The lesson is about making educated decisions and accepting the consequences, not only gambling. Be honest about the digital challenge. Our time is digital. It's about using technology for good. Teach children to handle digital money wisely, cautiously, and responsibly. Provide them with the tools and knowledge to make good decisions, not restrict access

For a child, whatever the reason, it would be too risky if he held his own money. Never mind the risk of gambling, if they have already gambled with any kind of gambling. Even those who don't gamble, a lot of case found, that make their parents run out of their credit card balance/limit when their parents link the card to a platform for purchasing game items, whether mobile or desktop. Giving children freedom over money may not good. So, the best thing is not to give money or not allow them to carry a lot of money and avoid linking financial access with purchasing digital goods (in-game items, or gambling) by parents.

That's right, people who have never earned money by hard work will not appreciate this money. Everyone has to find out for themselves that money is very difficult.

I know many examples when children from rich families lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and did not feel anything at the same time - not the slightest remorse.
And all this precisely because for them money was just a number on the screen in the "deposit" window. And it is from such people that the most dependent ludomaniacs are obtained.

Spoiled... is a trait that rich parents instill in their children so it's no wonder why many rich children don't feel pain when they lose big money while gambling or going on a spree, but it's very different when you earn money with difficulty, you will definitely struggle to be able to use the money as well as possible and will even feel hurt if you spend the money at the gambling table.

Recently, a young boy stole the family's electric generator sets because he wanted to service his addiction. And I heard from a source that the parents stopped giving him funds for his upkeep, so he decided to engage in such a shameful act. These young people could even go to the extent of engaging in illegal activities just for the sake of gambling.  Therefore, I think starving them of funds might not be the ideal solution.

in the OP's situation, the youngster is still responsible because he can still contain his gambling habits. but what if in the near future, you let him do what he wants, and become addicted to this habit? i guess, he can possibly be on verge of stealing from his mother, who knows? or will resort to other means of acquiring his funds just to supply his gambling activities. for now, what the OP described is that the youngster is still responsible to his activities. but sooner or later, this kid can easily create a problem out of his gambling. especially if he's running out of funds and nowhere to go.

do take note, a young mind can easily be easily influenced by what he feels and not think logically. because of lack of experience, he can easily resort to steps that are not favourable to his family. you don't know yet the maturity level of this person as he is new to this game, so a detrimental step can easily be taken by this young individual getting hooked into gambling.
