They both ain't wrong. Gambling is actually a way of making money, ofcourse a lot of lives have been transformed from huge gambling wins, but not all has been lucky to experience this transformation. Those who ain't lucky are the ones who often end up with one gambling problem or the other because they spend most of their time trying hard to recover all they've lost to gambling. Every gambler cannot deny the fact that they all aim for profits but then, we need to be careful so as not to cause more problems to ourselves while chasing Profits.

Many people often gamble under the disguise of having fun. It is very okay, at least it has helped a lot of people gamble within a favourable limit while still hoping to make more money. The whole idea of seeing gambling as a fun activity is to avoid over-reliance on gambling as a source of income and means of survival. I have no issues with people who feel gambling is all about fun, provided the fun activity doesn't cause any damage.

But like I said, it has been made clear to the person that gambling is dangerous if you are using it to chase money, that the end result or outcome may be bad. It is easy for newbie gamblers to understand that. So if they gamble and chasing money and lost money often, they will know they have read about not chasing money while gambling is true. Gambling with small amount of money will give you a peace of mind.

I don't think both of you are wrong. Honestly, If I wanted to have fun, there are many things I could think of like video game, chess, table tennis etc. So when I gamble, I gamble with the mindset that I want to win and get some extra bulks which sometimes may not happen. There's nothing fun about losses and there's no one that will be losing and be happy. Like you said, why people say gamble for fun is just to make rookies not to see gambling as a do or die affair.

For football lovers and other sports lovers, gambling is fun, and some people gamble for the money. If you are into sports gambling, there is no way you will enjoy gambling without watching football. If you watch football or other sports very well, it will make it much easier to be able to analyze when you are doing your game selection. Anyone who is into sports gambling should be ready to watch a lot of football games. Life itself is a risk, so gambling is more of a lesser risk compared to the risk some people take just because they want money. I still prefer to gamble over other things. What if I made money from the one I kept to pay my bills? I have too much interest in gambling and am already developing new strategies on how to make money from it.

I was an advocate of this (gambling solely for fun and nothing else) but honestly, I've changed my mind, it is wrong to believe that people will spend all of their hard earned money on gambling just for them to have fun, very wrong believe if you ask me.
There are several games people can play for free for fun's sake, there are video games that are way more interesting and fun to play than any slot or casino game, there are also some really good betting games that are far more intriguing to play than sports betting, what exactly do you think make slot games, Casino games, and even sports betting so interesting that people would want to spend their money on it just to have fun? As far as I know, non of this games are as interesting as playing a good video game on my laptop or mobile phone for free.

To believe that gambling should be done purely for fun is dilusional(sorry to say), I once posted a poll on this board where I asked gamblers on this forum that, if the possibility of making money through gambling is completely removed, and they have to keep spending their money to gamble, but will never win a dime because it's completely for fun, will they keep gambling?, the 100 percent who those who answered the pool said no, that they would stop gambling, for what is the essence of gambling if they can't win money.

Also, it is an addition to the entertainment factor and not to make it a day job. 

It's sad that many gamblers see it the wrong way. It's true that those who gamble for fun don't want to lose their money, who does? It's damn frustrating when that happens. But, we should not take away the fact that we should be having fun while trying to win against the house.
Sometimes gamblers are fed with the wrong idea especially if they keep on watching streamers who only show the good things that happen to them and not the bad ones. Then, there are those fake gambling streamers who are not really using their own money but they are funded by whatever gambling site they are promoting.
When newbies are pulled into this and have the thought to mimic it, that's when it all goes wrong. The purpose becomes different and they are actually not having fun anymore but instead being serious about winning everything every day which is impossible. I think I've played enough and wasted enough money to see that. RTP is surely there but it won't be like giving you everything back. Do the math using the house edge.

There is no way one can gamble for fun and don't have small intentions of gambling for money.

It is easy to say that gambling is fun but in reality gambling can be taken as fun by some people. No matter how much a gambler takes gambling as fun, after a while gambling is no longer fun for him, but gambling is considered a significant means of earning money. Suppose a gambler initially takes it as fun but after some time if he faces big losses from gambling then he takes gambling as a challenge. Gambling became a dominant source of income for him when he became busy trying to recover his gambling losses.
So no matter how much we accept gambling simply as a source of entertainment but in fact when it becomes such an addiction in people then the gambler automatically takes gambling as a source of income.

Gambling is entirely large and very hard to fully comprehend because when you say we shouldn't spend time on gambling how do we enhance our skills or becoming more acquainted with it to know how to predicts and master the rest things? Sometimes the impression people gives in gambling makes us not understand the better way to follow it all, why because you will see someone who doesn't want to spend time and yet looking for a way win big from gambling.

As in the title made by OP, that is true because I have played gambling in the casino several times just for fun, and it doesn't matter to me even if I lose because my goal is really just to have fun or just pass the time. Although sometimes, even though my motive is just like that, there is also a chance that I will also experience a win.

That's why my winnings always range from around $20 to $50. I get them in slot games and Baccarat when I'm lucky, but I really just want to have fun, and when I win like that, I stop.
