Interesting. I would have thought they'd not allow net selling. This way, it's a true market now.

In how far is redemption at all "limited" then?

1761XBT sold yesterday

The estimated daily holding in March 2014 is adjusted based on the latest actual holding figure

Also, please note that this is the net amount traded. They could have bought 10000XBT and sold 11761XBT yesterday

Well, this seems somewhat significant, if only because it signals that clients can sell now and some are doing it. Is it less than we should expect for the first day or will we see a lot more? If I invested at $125, I might be happy to take profits now. Interesting times.

Surprised they're not buying tons at the moment. (thought admittedly almost 4000 in one day isn't bad)

Who is "they"?  They the trust, or SecondMarket doesn't decide when to buy or at what price.  An investor gives them money on a particular day and they buy on that day for that price. Whether the price is up or down doesn't effect BIT's buying, they don't guess the market, only their investors.

Poorly worded, I agree.. but I meant on behalf of their investors. There was plenty of action last week when the price was higher.

@jl2012
do you know where SMBIT is buying and selling?
At which Exchange or OTC ?

Barry has said in interviews that they seek out early adopters and other large holders to buy from in bulk. This can likely often be done at a discount to the prevailing public market-rate.
do you have a source for the interviews, please.

The figures are estimated based on the dollar amount posted to the site daily. Once a month they post their actual BTC holdings. The amount referenced may be due to a rounding error or something similar.

But it would be neat if you could look at the Bitstamp tape/chart from yesterday during the drop, find one of the large buys, and say 'oh that was SecondMarket'.

no reason for  disclaiming, jl2012.
 I did not suspect in that direction.
I am looking every day what the buying figures are because I think it is a valuable Indicator, what wealthy People and funds are doing in these a bit disturbing circumstances (Price decline over weeks)
Thanks a lot for updating
