There isn't going to be any game to be played until January 14. St. Pauli and Darmstadt are making me really surprised in this season. St. Pauli are the leader with 36 points. And Darmstadt are following them from one point behind.

St. Pauli (and Darmstadt) doesn't surprise me. In the 2019/20 season, they only had 16 (18) points after the first half of the season, were at 15th (14th)  place and then they worked more and more as a team and finished the season with 47 (51) points. They have taken this spirit with them into the current season. Great performance so far.

@judas it’s a welcome break for the player’s who’ll also get some much needed family time, and rest too as it’s been a tough year for them too. Furthermore St, Pauli have played really good so far, but if their form dips post the break then they’ll be in big trouble, hence I’m hoping that they can continue this fine form once the league resumes again.
I think what's surprising is Hamburger SV because even though Hamburger SV are in third place, but Hamburger SV so far have only lost 2 and it's the only team so far in the 2. Bundesliga that has lost the fewest. Also, there are four teams that have collected the same points at the end of this year's break with 30 points, the competition for third place is clearly still a hunt for many teams. Because for me, positions one and two might be defended by St. Pauli and Darmstadt and it is possible, considering the points gap which I think is good enough for both of them.

And they are right behind those two in the standings now. It looks like this is going to be a really competitive season for all of these teams.

Jahn Regensburg lost points and is now the eighth team in the table. They have lost 4 of the last 5 matches. Schalke has improved their performance. The team is stable enough now. They are now the fourth team in the points table. They are just 6 points behind Pauli at the top of the points table. If Schalke is to maintain their form, they deserve to be at the top of the points table.

Pauli could have single-handedly topped the table if they had not lost points in the last two games. In the last match, Pauli's team lost to Holstine. This is their fourth defeat of the season. However, the Schalke team is really strengthening themselves day by day. They will rise higher above the table. Hamburger has lost just two matches but has drawn nine.

If we compare between the club competition in the bundesliga and the bundesliga 2, it looks like the clubs in the bundesliga 2 seem more evenly distributed and many clubs still have many chances for promotion to the main bundes this season, there are only three teams that can qualify for the main bundes and look at the table At present, I think 7 teams still have a great chance to be promoted later because they only have a slight difference in points and if later there is a team that slips even if it's only for one match, it is certain that they will be displaced by another club.

In my opinion, it is also much more exciting to follow the second Bundesliga than the first. And not just since this season, but for a long time.
I would even say that anything is possible up to 9th place if you only look at the points. Paderborn is 3 points behind 3rd place.
We will see which teams will show stable performances.
Yes, I totally agree with you, we can see if the points obtained by Bundesliga 2 clubs are currently relatively small and this shows that the competition in Bundesliga 2 is much more competitive, now all nine teams have the opportunity to overtake and knock out other clubs in the league standings and of course this requires high consistency from these teams to be able to penetrate the Bundesliga 1 at the end of the season, but among the nine teams, I really hope St Pauli and Schalke can be promoted to Bundesliga1.

Looking at the table... the 2nd Bundesliga is the better (well, at least the more exciting) Bundesliga. I bet we'll see a close race at the top towards the end of the season Smiley
Here the quotes for which team will advance to the 1st league:
St. Pauli 1.55
HSV 2.05
Bremen 2.15
Schalke 2.3
Darmstadt 2.9
Nürnberg 6.0
Heidenheim 6.5

Darmstadt despite it's favorable postion quite low...

Could be. But if you are mentally and physically exhausted and then get something on top of that....you have to recover from that first. Some say that the professionals have to cope with that. But in the end, they are just as human as many others. We have to wait for the first games.

Well said, as far as exhausted and being drained because of the games well that is pretty normal and I think they would just need a good rest and every team should still priorities a good rest from day to day it would surely help a lot aswell, and 2nd Bundesliga games will surely resume on January 15 because of the holiday season, and I think that is a good long break they needed to prepare for the next game and perspective from the standings Darmstadt sure has a chance to overtake FC St. Pauli from the 1st place but there are still chance for St. Pauli to defend their position to secure their place from moving on the 1st division, and right now not only Darmstadt is doing great but Heidenheim and Schalke are doing their all and pretty much upped their performance lately, looking forward to these two clubs, if they can reach St. Pauli and Darmstadt in the clash.

Good point but there are two sides of the medal. Maybe they were mentally and physically exhausted, now lost the game and can really recover over the Winter break and come back stronger again. It really depends on their first game after the break I think. If they can manage to win that one, they'll be fine even after this defeat. If they lose the next game they might start doubting themselves a little bit and lose confidence.

Hamburg - Schalke was the most important game of the week I think. Hamburg had a home stadium advantage actually but Schalke still performed better than them in most of the game. But they were able to equalize the score barely in the last minutes of the game and got a 1-1 draw. Hamburg wouldn't be happy about the result but they shouldn't be happy about their effort also.
Yes it was an important game for both of them i dont think the draw was what they looked for now they are both 5 points away from the second position and six from the first the game was equal in the first half but in the second half shalke team was hugely better they couldve won that game.

Saw the game between HAmburg and Schalke and the second half was really good. Schalke deserved the 1-1. They also deserved to score a second goal.

You could almost say that St. Pauli wasted a Matchball.

Yes, Indeed. And not only that. You have also taken a small step backwards mentally. It is not good to go into the winter break with a defeat. Especially when you played so well in the previous games.

today there were the last 3 games in the 2. bundesliga and darmstadt 98 can catch up to only 1 point on st. pauli and werder bremen could with a 4-1 away win at hannover 96 also to only 1 point on the third place in the table.
this is how the table looks at the winter break:

You could almost say that St. Pauli wasted a Matchball. If they won the game against Kiel, they would more or less almost certainly be safe to be promoted to the Bundesliga. They play a strong season and I doubt they would have given away a 9 points lead. Now with 6 points and the number of teams that still have a chance to be promoted, it is going to be a lot of tough games during the second half of the season.

it is very surprising that the leaders of the St.Pauli standings have to lose to Holstein Kiel who incidentally their performance stumbled in the middle of the board with a score that is quite striking, namely 3-0.
St Paul's first half was like playing without feeling and it was very easy for Holstein Kiel to steal the ball so they conceded 3 goals in the first half.
This is the second bad record this week after yesterday they drew against Dusseldorf

St. Pauli played really badly against Holstein Kiel today, they lost by a very shocking score too. But even though they lost to Holstein Kiel, they are still in the first position of the 2. Bundesliga standings.

Darmstadt are second in the table, 4 points clear, but they have played just 17 games, 1 game less than they should have been. Darmstadt will be a tough competitor to St. Pauli.
the competition is getting fiercer, they are only one point adrift now after St.pauli lost in yesterday's match.
this is an already visible threat from damsdardt as indeed they are getting chased and they are just a little less points now.
but after the break, st pauli will be a little underdog because they will only host lower teams who are currently still struggling at the bottom of the standings and maybe they will take advantage of this

Regensburg - Darmstadt looks like it will be an interesting match too today because both teams have the consistency to score goals, I expect both teams to score but it looks like Darmstadt have a chance to get 3 points too. At current odds they get odds 2.xx but since Darmstadt is in a better position in the standings it is very likely, Darmstadt's struggle to strengthen its position can be done in this match to keep getting points. Head to head they don't look like either of them are dominating, so with Darmstadt's performance so far this season, I'm sure Darmstadt will win to continue to stick to the top spot.
