It has become habit of Bayern Leverkusen's games to always score goals in the last minutes and did it when defeating Borussia Mönchengladbach last night on the opening Bundesliga match. Actually, Bayern Leverkusen have lead two goals after Granit Xhaka scoring on 12th minutes and Florian Wirtz made Bayern Leverkusen lead two goals on 38th minutes. Loss consistent on defense make Bayern Leverkusen have conceded two goals after Borussia Mönchengladbach scoring two goals 59th and 85th minutes.

Last night, Granit Xhaka scoring the most beautiful goal and keep respect for his former team without make any celebration, Xabi Alonso still make him as favorite and important player in his tactician after success playing all matches last season in Bundesliga. Good result for Bayern Leverkusen after success getting three points although can't make clean sheet and must conceded two goals on the first Bundesliga match.

I couldn't believe it but Bayern Leverkusen continue from where they stopped last season with their last minute goal to either secure a win or at least a draw. Everything is possible in football until the final whistle is been blown.   I must commend their performance for being consistent and maintaining the spirit but Xabi should focus on the defense to improve it just like you observed. The defense is too weak and nearly concede goals in every match. Relying on stoppage minute goal for equalizer or win will not always possible and the tension would be less if they have strong defense line. There wouldn't be need for late minutes fight for goal if they had maintained and defended the two goals scored before the break.

Bayern Leverkusen may not be able to replicate their last season's record but what I saw in their match tonight shows they are a promising club with the potential of winning the league again this season. One thing too is that their luck of scoring late goals still follow them to this season because they almost drew the match from their 2 goals lead from first half if not of the Florian Wirtz who scored after missing the penalty kick at 90 minutes +11. This is pure luck else that match was a pure draw.

You say pure luck? In football I don't think there is anything like luck or pure luck, if you know how to play you know how to play and these Leverkusen guys and the coach are just good, they know how to handle the pressure when it's on them. This is business as usual my brother, they are just good and nothing more, it was 2-2 and I said to myself that this game isn't over yet, FT 2-3 and you call it luck, no I don't think so.

I think there is luck in football and that's why you see some team playing very well but still find it difficult to win matches as a result of hard luck but you get to see their opponent scoring goals with the little opportunities they get that's not just about playing well but also having the winning luck. Bayer Leverkusen had the luck working for them last season and they managed to win the league and in their first league game this season they have started with the same performance on this note I think it has become part of the team to always get the last results after 90 minute this is good performance and luck.

If you say they are very good which I can beat my chest and say they are and a little bit lucky I can say yes and agree with you 85% but no way. Are you saying they have been operating on luck all through last season? Because what happened last night is not the first time it has been happening, scoring that last minute goal to secure a win or even draw a game. This guys are good and you shouldn't say they are lucky, something that has been happening for almost a year going to two years and you address it as luck, which means Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and even Madrid has been operating on luck with all they have achieved and the way they play. We should give Bayer Leverkusen a big credit, I believe we don't have much teams who can still be doing this last minute winning they always do.

Even its maybe an advantage for Gladbach playing at home and that they have played a draw last season when they meet first i think that Leverkusen wil win this game today.
I really dont know how much changed in that Sommerbreak time and what kind of transfers they did , but i guess it will be not enough to beat Leverkusen.
And i placed my bet for a win from Leverkusen with 3 scored Goals , i hope they dont disappoint me today.]

Ah it turns out my prediction was wrong, I thought there wouldn't be many goals in this match. especially, the home team wouldn't score. but I was quite impressed with Gladbach who played a little better, they were able to equalize after conceding two goals first. but unfortunately for the home team, at the end of the extra minutes, Leverkusen benefited by getting a penalty which made them win. one more thing, Granit Xhaka's goal was very cool at the beginning of the first half. his long shot, shot hard and couldn't be blocked by the Gladach goalkeeper. our prediction was right, Leverkusen eventually won this match. it's just that, I didn't expect there to be many goals scored by both teams. even though I predicted that Leverkusen would win no more than two goals, and the home team was unable to reply. a little interesting in last night's match, and if you bet, congratulations on your winning bet.

I'm sure admin X (Twitter) Leverkusen wrote this tweet with shaking hands and indeed this wonderkid can always provide positive results according to the club's needs. Leverkusen's dramatic victory was so tense where they almost drew 2-2 if Florian Wirtz hadn't scored a goal in the final minutes. But even though it was only a penalty goal, the time limit drained the stamina of the players who competed.

In addition, the template goal scored by Granit Xhaka from outside the opponent's defense box might be the goal of the week or even the goal of the season considering it was a hard and beautiful goal. But respect for Granit Xhaka who refused to celebrate after scoring a goal by giving respect to his former team that he had defended from 2012 to 2016. A painful defeat for him for Gladbach because they lost the opportunity to gain points in front of their fans.

The Bundesliga match has started Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach started today's opening match Leverkusen got 3 points in this match beating Mönchengladbach with a score of 2:3
It seems that Leverkusen's performance is still quite strong in the Bundesliga, they are determined to win the title again and compete with the top clubs in the Bundesliga, I still favor Leverkusen for every match in the Bundesliga.

Unfortunately I lost my bet on this match because I predicted that neither Leverkusen nor Mönchengladbach would score more than 4.5 but it turned out that my prediction was wrong, there were 5 goals in this match  Cry

There is no guarantee that Leverkusen can maintain last season's record, the level of competition in each season is always different and surprises can also happen at any time. Leverkusen style of play is still the same as last season, they started the season with their habit of scoring goals in the final minutes of the match. An additional goal from Florian Wirtz in the 90+11th minute brought Leverkusen 3 points at Borussia Mönchengladbach home. Leverkusen still shows its class that does not want to lose points, the spirit of its players is still the same as last season, before winning, they never stop pressing the opponent's defense. A great performance from Xabi Alonso men.

The Leverkusen team may not repeat all they did last season but I can tell you for free that they'll be the ones to cause so much heart break to teams in the Bundesliga and the champions league as well, their style of play is something we hardly see these days, check the team they don't have the likes of Ronaldo and the Messi but they play as one, nothing special but they are just special in their own ways, congratulations to Alonso and his boys and what a way to kick off the Bundesliga.
Disagreeing with idea of luck I also think Leverkusen success comes from their skills and ability to handle pressure. They have deep understanding of game and work well together which helps them play at high level. Their coach Alonso has done great job creating unique style of playing that is impressive and effective. Even without superstar players they play well together and have a lot of talent. This season Leverkusen is team to watch and they will likely surprise many teams in Bundesliga and Champions League. Congratulations to Alonso and his team on great start to the season.

Borussia Monchengladbach 2 - 3 Bayer 04 Leverkusen

It was really quite worrying, I really thought the final result would be a draw and was quite disappointed with them. But in the end, oh that was a very good and satisfying kick from Wirtz, this was his umpteenth kick, but in the end, he was able to score his second goal for Leverkusen as the winner at the end of time.

Although it was postponed because of smoke billowing on the field which reduced the visibility, in the end, the match was able to run smoothly again.

Source: Rating Monchengladbach vs Leverkusen

And this is the rating of the players from both clubs. Honestly, both, both Leverkusen and especially the Mönchengladbach players played well.

I doubt Bayer Leverkusen could do the same record as the previous season. Even though they have most players in and the same coach but the other teams, mainly Bayern Munich, will not let them pass them the way they did in the previous season.
Xabi Alonso will try to prove himself again as a top coach and the first game will be against M'Gladbach which is lagging much and could not be understood.
I expect Bayer Leverkusen to win in few hours.
We can't be certain about what they can do or not do in this season as the season is still fresh and promising for LL teams in the Bundesliga. They did a great job last season when nobody had expected and now every football fans expectation on them has been ignited beyond the normal which for me I think it's very much of a responsibility on them.

In tonight's 2:3 victory against B. Monchengladbach we saw how tough it was for them and it was only out of their usual resilience that got them that late winner goal from  Wirtz  at 90+11 minutes. For a performance from a team that wishes to double their  Bundesliga championship it wasn't convincing and impressive. Xavi Alonso would need to sign in new players to solidify his team because the competition has only just began and he would need a few  quality players as backup for uncertainties like injuries and fatigue as they compete both in the Bundesliga and the UEFA champions league.

Monchengladbach kept pushing and pushing. It was unfortunate for them to allow those two first goals to go in. After they went a goal down, they shouldn't have allowed a second, they had a pretty good spell before they conceded that goal.

M'Gladbach did resisted very well against Bayer Leverkusen which supposedly had to win easily. And as I mentioned, M'Gladbach is a laggy team which makes it unpredictable.
Bayer Leverkusen did well scoring two goals before M'Gladbach respond viciously. That match should be a warning for Leverkusen that their games will not be easier.

Bayern Leverkusen’s final minutes goal scoring can no longer be a luck again but what they’re actually meant to be always. They can’t be so lucky and keep the consistency for too long like this. They’ve shown a great performance and that alone is a sign that they’re also fit to contest for the league title this season just like they did in the previous season and won the league title. Bayern Munich may still be their biggest rivals but with the way they’ve coordinated themselves till now and the change of manager done at Bayern Munich, they still stand a better chance to win the league title. I only doubt their capability to win the trophy with an unbeaten streak like last season but they’re surely going to be great again this season.

It must be admitted that Leverkusen is still covered by luck, a fairly dramatic victory with a final score of 3-2. Signs of decline have not been seen from the squad coached by Xabi Alonso, his cool hand is still working very well, at least for the first week of the Bundesliga. Florian Wirtz confirmed that he is a player who can make a difference, and in my opinion his quality is in accordance with his current market value.
Agree. The match almost ended up with a draw result, luckily Wirtz could score in minute 90+11'. It was just 2 minutes before the end of the match. But Wirtz actually failed to score from penalty kick in minute 90+9'. He may regret it if he couldn't score a goal in minute 90+11'. However, Wirtz is the man of the match in this match. Undecided

I also don't see a decline in team performance of Leverkusen. They still dominated the match and made many attempts. But Xabi Alonso needs to make Leverkusen game be more effective. The shot accuracy of the players should be improved. So, they won't miss so many chances and can optimize every chance to be goals.

Leverkusen actually did not too dominate the course of the match, but the statistics of the number of shots they released were quite a lot.
Leverkusen won the ball possessions 58%, they made 25 shots (8 on target). How do you conclude that they didn't dominate the match? According to the stats, it is clear that Leverkusen really dominated the match.

It makes sense to say that Leverkusen still has the potential to be champions this season, but let's see how Bayern Munich, their main competitor, will play their match tomorrow.
Indeed. Leverkusen has a chance to win again Bundesliga trophy. However, it is to early to talk about this, we can't determine the chance from a single match. I think we need to see the results of the next few matches. Then, we can analyze which team to have better chance winning the trophy of Bundesliga this season.

When Gladbach finally scored and VAR cancelled the goal, I knew it was going to be an even more interesting match because the whole momentum and fans were behind them. Too bad they didn't get a point from this game because they really deserved it. Part of what made Monchengladbach have a bad season last season was because they conceded too many goals in every match. They concede at least 2 goals in every match and they have started that way this season. Although they played well, considering their opponent, they shouldn't be conceding that amount of goals if they want to compete properly this season.

How do you see Leverkusen this season? Do you think they can become champions without losing a single game again? In the Bundesliga I mean.

They actually had a huge unbeaten streak which must be over 50 games.  Smiley  But it finished by Atalanta in the Europa League. Otherwise they could have carried the streak to even this season. Xabi Alonso has gathered all the attention on himself as a result. Personally I believe this season won't be the same. It is just too difficult to maintain such form for two-season long.  Sad  Plus, I would really like to see a title competition in the league this time.

Last season was incredible for Leverkusen, without a doubt it was something that will be in the club's history. But I doubt very much that what happened last season will be repeated, just look at that in Leverkusen's first game in the Bundesliga it was a game against a weak opponent, but on the field Leverkusen had a lot of difficulty to win the game, they conceded 2 goals and were very lucky to benefit from a penalty in the final minutes of the game, it was thanks to this penalty that they managed to score the third goal and win the game. Now imagine what will happen when Leverkusen plays against strong opponents? They will probably lose. Of course we need to see how Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig will also do when they play

Borussia Monchengladbach 2 - 3 Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Leverkusen won the game with great difficulty even though they were playing against a weak opponent.

But with this performance today, wining at the end of the game, I think they don’t have the squad depth to repeat it and they fail to sign new players thinking they have enough squad to win another Bundesliga forgetting that they have Champions League and other competitions to play.
Bayer Leverkusen need to win games in a more convincing manner this season, they do not need to continue to depend on last minute goals and the luck they have with scoring late goals because it will not always work and may fail them in a very important game. They won the game but to me it is not a good result because having a two goal advantage and then losing it almost to the extent of dropping the whole point completely, it is not a good start they were just lucky today, they will not be lucky another day and their luck may not be enough for them to defend their title this season if they do not improve.
