in the last few seasons, Bayern has depended on Lewandowski a lot and everyone knows that. He deserved the award, he managed to bring Senegal to be the champion of the african cup as well as he managed to bring Senegal to the world cup.

And the unique fact is that Senegal beat egypt in the african cup final and the decisive match for the place to the world cup. That's the reason why he managed to surpass Salah for the best African player award.
