I consider pre-season or friendly matches very important. At least for the big teams, these matches are important. Because only in the midst of these matches can you understand the capabilities of the team. And if the coach is experienced, he sees the performance of the players in these matches and identifies the team's weaknesses, and takes necessary steps to fix the weaknesses. Even in these matches, the coach conducts various experiments with his squad.

Leverkusen will face Lens and Arsenal in the next two friendlies. And these two teams are strong enough. Xabi will get an idea of what his squad is capable of in the match against Lens. And I'm looking forward to Arsenal vs Leverkusen. In this match we will get an idea about the strength of both the teams.
Pre-season or friendly matches are an opportunity to see the quality of the players before joining official competitions and usually the coach will try to give opportunities to young players. The goal is to get the level of weaknesses that can be improved and find young talents to be included in the main squad. With the presence of pre-season or friendly matches, the coach can test several strategies so that he can decide to use them. Pre-season matches are considered important as an evaluation step and the coach has a view regarding the position that must be maximized and evaluated.

Leverkusen will face a much more interesting match because facing Arsenal will provide a real picture of the strength of Xabi Alonso's team next season. Likewise with Arsenal where Areta can make team adjustments before facing the official competition.

I agree with you. The quality of new players in the squad can be tested during the pre-season matches. New players who are added to the squad can be checked if they are fit for the squad. Also, coaches can experiment with different match strategies in pre-season matches. If the coach can successfully experiment and identify the weaknesses of the team, then it is possible to maintain the stability of the performance from the beginning of the season. But if the internal problems or weaknesses in the squad are not identified, the team's performance at the start of the season will be slow and erratic.

Leverkusen were last season's champions. The Bundesliga title will definitely be their target next season. And since Bayern Munich will be doing their best to regain their old dominance next season, it will be much more difficult for Leverkusen to become Bundesliga champions. So Xabi Alonso will try to stabilize the team before the start of the season.

We haven't seen much of the Leverkusen side in the club friendly games and we already know all they did last season and is like they're resting to prepare for the upcoming season which we know is not going to be an easy one this time around. With Xabi Alonso still with the team who he led to a wonderful finish last season, can we still expect same result or should I say something much bigger and better than last season knowing quite well that Bayern Munich are not backing down with the new manager Kompany, can Alonso's men defend their title and make life unbearable for the other Bundesliga teams ones again? To me I'm not sure about Leverkusen next season, how they'll play but I'll tell you for sure that they are everyone's target next campaign.
Like you rightly pointed out, haven't engaged in many preseason games like their counterparts from the other European leagues. The only preseason friendly game they've played so far is the one they did play against Essen on Friday but before the next season officially kicks off, Bayer Leverkusen have already lined up three friendly games. They play against French club Lens next Saturday before they'll play against Arsenal and then round up their preseason against Spanish side Real Betis. I think playing four games as preseason games as a German Bundesliga club isn't a bad idea considering the fact that the league is less  demanding than other European leagues that consists of 20 clubs
To me I feel these guys need to play less with what they have done but that doesn't mean they should forget what's ahead because when you think of what they (Bayer Leverkusen) did last season you'll be so happy to even say they don't need to play any friendly, just go and rest but in football you need to always be at your best and if you look closely you noticed that Bayern Munich are trying to get back that trophy next season. Not playing much games doesn't show that they (Leverkusen) won't do well, to me this friendly games is just to bring out those young ones, for them to showcase what they have to offer should incase they are given the opportunity to join the senior team and nothing more so I think the Leverkusen side should continue with the lite friendly game. And going against Arsenal is a game I believe they're going to try not to lose while Arsenal on the other hand have been brilliant in the friendly games they have played and the Gunners would like to keep a good record before the start of next season.

Every season teams add several new players to their squads. And in these pre-season matches, the new and young players of the team try to adapt themselves to the other players in the squad, and match tactics. Also the coach can know about the overall condition of his squad. These are the reasons why pre-season matches are important.

There's no doubt that Leverkusen performed well last season. After a long time, the Bayern Munich team lost their dominance in the Bundesliga. However, I don't think Leverkusen will dominate the Bundesliga this season as they played well last season. Serie A side Napoli were champions in the 22-23 season, but performed very poorly in the 23-24 season. So I would say Xabi Alonso has to be very careful this season.

In addition, this also aims to make Nuri Sahin sure for his players because we know that Nuri Sahin is a fairly new coach and his experience is not as much as other coaches because he is new to the world of coaching so it is quite natural if he starts concocting from scratch so that next season Dortmund runs well so I think the final results and performance in this friendly match are not bad for Dortmund.
Nuri Sahin i think knows what he will be doing and how to handle the players he have in Dortmund and a lot of players know him when he was playing there.
An interesting thing i just have seen is that Nuri Sahin was playing in Real Madrid in the year 2011 - 2012 damn.
But anyway for sure the most friendly games before the season starts is testing and to see how far the players are with there fitness and stuff.
Looking forward to see the first official game from Dortmund and who will be there playing.
Currently, Nuri Sahin's pressure is actually the same as Kompany where he is a coach who is relatively new to coaching a big club so he must undergo his first season well.
Although we know as a player he is known especially when he was in Madrid but to be a coach and a player it is clear that it has a difference and Nuri Sahin must be able to make the most of this opportunity because after all, by coaching Dortmund at this time, it can make the situation in terms of his popularity as a coach can be lifted or even ignored.
When he later succeeds in bringing Dortmund to a better direction then there is certainly a condition that indeed becomes very good just like Xabi in these 2 seasons, but when his performance leans more towards a decline in performance then it is clear that the same situation faced by Tuchel at Bayern last season could happen to him in the coming season.

Yes, there are only 4 pre-season matches for Leverkusen before they really focus on the Bundesliga. One friendly match that might be quite interesting is when Leverkusen faces Arsenal at the start of next month because this duel will determine the extent of their concentration level when they meet a stronger team. It will also be a good review for coaches to set the ideal strategy for each pre-season match.
On the one hand, I think Leverkusen is so strong with the polish built by Xabi Alonso last season that they just need to maintain their quality level for this season.
Indeed, Leverkusen's match schedule this season will be tighter because they will be playing in the Champions League, which means their energy must be really ready when at the same time they need to win. But with their performance last season, I don't think it will be too difficult for Xabi to manage it as well as possible so that their targets are achieved this season.

I also don't think Harry Kane is weak striker at all. He has scored many goals for England and his club teams so his record shows he is great player. He is very good at scoring goals and is important part of any team. Yes that is right Kane has been unlucky when it comes to winning trophies especially when he moved to Bayern Munich. But that does not mean he is not good player. Bayern Munich has had some problems and has not found right coach yet so it is hard for them to win trophies. It is sad for Kane, but he is still a fantastic player who deserves praise for his skills.
You're right. Kane already contributed many goals for England and for Bayern Munich. His stats clearly showed us how strong Harry Kane. Harry Kane was the top scorer in Bundesliga last season. But winning a trophy can't be done by a single player, it depends on the whole teams. Bayern Munich is quite good in attacking but they have weak defense. In the last season, Bayern defense performed badly. It is the reason why Bayern could compete with Leverkusen well. Instead of finishing the season as a runner-up, Bayern Munich ended the season in the 3rd place. Undecided

Actually, I can't wait for Kompany's debut in the new season with Munich. With an extraordinary composition of players and very different pressures and playing styles of Bundesliga and EPL. Kompany has carried out several player transfer policies as he wishes, he should be able to become a successful new coach.  But some of the players I like are also leaving, including rumors that De Light is going to Man United. But indeed De Ligt has not gotten much playing minutes this season. If Bayern had the collectivity and mentality to play like Leverkusen, I think Munich would be much greater.
Kompany has made his debut when Bayern Munich played against FC Rottach-Egern. He was quite successful to manage Bayern players in his debut, Bayern could win the match with 14 goals. I know FC Rottach-Egern is small team, people will say it is easy to score many goals against them. But we must appreciate what Kompany has done in the match. He succeeded winning the match with most young players and second tier players. I think it is a good sign for Bayern Munich for the new season under Kompany's management.

I think it is too early to begin to criticize the new coach of Dortmund Nuri Sahin after from 0:3 to end the game 2:3, for sure I don't think he understood his team before game and it is obvious because the team is yet to pick the first 11 players for starting every game but with few friendly games the coach is sure of having good selection among the players before working of the best tactics that he will use in the team.

Since friendly games are used to make the selection in terms of players that will be starting in a game, I expect the friendly matches to be more interesting and the players putting in their efforts beyond expectation so that the coach can select the one he  want to be among his starting lineup but it's unfortunate that you said friendly matches are not used to know the performance of the team but I think more friendly matches are done not just to revive the fitness of the players it is used to also make a better comparism among players.

I think Dortmund management's expectation from Nuri Sahin is not the championship, but to develop a football philosophy that suits the club and to improve himself. Also, even though Dortmund reached the UCL final, their squad is not strong and large enough to finish as the Bundesliga leader. Leverkusen are likely to keep their manager and squad. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, although bad last season, always have a quality gap with their rivals. Dortmund can win target matches with high concentration and high fight as they did in the UCL, but the league is a long marathon and the possibility of surprises may not be in the league. Since Dortmund are not making big transfers, Nuri Sahin can both improve himself and establish a strong authority at the club where he is a symbol. I hope Nuri Sahin succeeds in this process and can become a new Klopp.

People think Harry Kane has been cursed but i think he has just been unlucky and there is nothing as been cursed. He was also unlucky that ge joined Bayern Munich when they will suffer a terrible season the next season but now people are blaming everything to be on Kane saying his curse is what is affecting Bayern. I don’t believe it to be so, He just happened to be more unlucky joining Bayern at the wrong season but there is no way Bayern would go 2 seasons without winning a trophy.

Harry Kane is just unlucky as you’ve said and nothing as a curse following him that he’ll be blamed about. Even a team that has been doing well won’t be that easy for them to beat Bayern Leverkusen last season the where they were on top fire. He just have to join them when their most unexpected opponent was in their best form. I hope things get better with time for Bayern Munich so that Harry Kane can get to win his first trophy because I see it happening next season.

Leverkusen under the coaching of Xabi Alonso they look more mature in making plans that they will do in the coming season. By retaining many players who contributed or their success last season is clearly a step where they do not want the chemistry they have built to disappear just like that. I think I know what Xabi is thinking right now. It's not that he doesn't want to bother to create chemistry when many new players come, but he prefers to mature what he has started..

Retaining these players is the best thing Bayern Leverkusen did and I am sure it was because Xabi Alonso was retained so many of those players will want to stay  and still be training under his superb management. Xabi Alonso have put together a great squad in that team and if he grooms them more for the next two to three seasons, that club will remain strong and untouchable to be defeated by just any team.

Despite pre-season matches not fully determining the form of a team, the truth is that many teams that perform well in pre-season often do well in the main season. If a team uses its full squad during pre-season and their performance is poor, it's unlikely that they will perform better when the season starts. I haven't been watching Dortmund's pre-season matches, but based on some comments I've seen, it seems they have issues with their defense. If that's the case, the head coach needs to take quick action and find a solution, perhaps by signing great defenders. Sometimes, it's through pre-season that one can start predicting some teams performance.
The pre-season matches actually says a lot about the team’s preparation towards a fresh season, if a team is not doing well, they have to make adjustments before the beginning of the season.
On Dortmund aspect, I think it is obvious that they need to work on their defensive line if they really want to have a better season because defense wins you titles and no matter how good your team is, if your defense is bad, you will end up conceding a lot of goals that will make the entire team looks like a team with no seriousness.

Bayern Munich on the other hand has drew their second Pre-season match against Duren Merzenich. They narrowly level the score because they were losing since in the 40th minutes of the match, and they score in the 69th minute of the match to make it 1-1.
They display a wonderful performance in the match, and young players were given chance to play in the game as well. Kompamy need to put more effort towards building his team because all eyes on him.

Defense is indeed something that Dortmund needs to fix before they start the new season, I see Dortmund's pre-season matches are not too good they always concede goals from weaker clubs, it's useless if they have a good attack line but their defense is weak then their opponents will know their weaknesses and create strategies to defeat Dortmund.
However, I realize that if the coach does not bring out the best players in this pre-season match I think Dortmund still has a good defense let these matches be evaluation material for the coach to solve the problems that occur in his club.

They have also already brought in two strong players from their competitor Stuttgart, Anton (defender) and Guirassy (striker). With a few more strong players, they should be able to compete for the title in the Bundesliga under Nuri Sahin. It will now be important to find a replacement for Marco Reus, who played a very important role at Dortmund.

I've just checked the odds for the outright winner of the Bundesliga 2024/25 and not going to lie, I was quite surprised with what I see.
I expected Leverkusen to be the favourite. There's no way they'll be as dominating as in the previous season, but I still think they are more likely to win than any other team.
Maybe I'm just not a big believer of Kompany being able to make Bayern great again.
Bayern Munich is a big team and champion candidates for almost every season in Bundesliga even before Leverkusen can broke their domination in the last 10 season Bayern Munich is really dominate this league without gets decent contender so i am not surprised why some of the bookmakers still placed them as the first favourite of the champion of next season instead of Leverkusen because they have possibility will able to taking over Bundesliga title from Leverkusen

Last season too the bookmakers placed Bayern Munich as the favourite even at that time the bookmakers too give low odds for Bayern Munich similar like this season but the predictions were missed because Leverkusen who able to gets Bundesliga title for the first time and what i want to says about this i think being an the first favourite will not automatically can gets the title because everything is still determined by the performance of Bayern Munich for whole season

I am actually a little disappointed to see the odds  that was given to Dortmund. I thought they are a better team than that.  Actually recently they have not been able to prove themselves. So that might be a reason why we see this.  Bayern Munich is definitely going to have a very good chance of winning the Bundesliga title. And I think we all actually agree that they are going to face a good competition from Leverkusen. But it is not going to be as easy as it was in the  last season for Leverkusen. Because in this season Bayern Munich will be ready for them. i would actually like to see Leverkusen win but i would also want to see some good competition for the Bundesliga title. In the last season I was actually a little disappointed to see Thomas Tuchel's tactics & the way Bayern Munich performed. Maybe with the new coach Vincent Kompany they will be able to see success again

Nuri Sahin is just continuing what Edin Terzic left behind at Dortmund, so I think next season we will see a little change taking place considering several new players are joining Dortmund at the moment, Nuri Sahin is no different from Kompany at Bayern Munich which is indeed the first time in coached a big team in his career so there will still be pressure placed on them next season to bring their team to a better level than last season, so far we see that Dortmund is still experiencing poor performance in friendly matches so Nuri Sahin must be able to improve it quickly so that there are no doubts for their fans, the friendly match should be an opportunity for Nuri Sahin to find a strong foundation for their team next season and it is appropriate for us not to bad judge Nuri Sahin performance just based on the results of the current friendly match, the third friendly match that has been played by Dortmund so far there has been a slight improvement compared to the first and second matches, so we can conclude that slowly Nuri Sahin is starting to find the right formula for his team, even though it is not yet optimal.

I don't know why you worry so much about friendly matches because I don't see it as a game one should take the outcome serious. Dortmund have a good defense but they allowed the younger players to play with you know about that so why sounding as if they have a bad defense and are not need tighten it before the season starts.

Dortmund coach knows what he is doing and I believe he used the match to observe something to see if he will make some changes or not. Hey are you a Dortmund fan.
The result of a friendly match is not always important for a team, its players and coaches. Friendly matches are not really good as a benchmark for assessing team performance, in fact you should not gamble on them because the risk of losing is higher than in official matches. If one wanted to judge the team's performance, then they would have to wait until the season officially started. All teams will play seriously because victory is the ultimate goal.

Friendly matches are nothing more than just entertainment matches during pre-season. The coach only gives a little time to the main players in such matches so that each player avoids the risk of injury, so I don't think the result of the match can be considered important.

When Bayer Leverkusen were doing great last season one thing that was the concern of some fans was that even if they have won the league and the domestic cup they wouldn’t be able to compete the following season, this is because of the reason that most of these clubs usually lose their best players and even manager to other top clubs in the next summer. But this time around it looks exactly like Leverkusen will be different, their first big story to me was the ability to retain the manager Xabi Alonso I think he has been instrumental in decision of many players still staying, had he jumped the ship when the top clubs came coming I believe most players will have also left.

Although the transfer window hasn’t closed but I like the idea that Bayer Leverkusen are not looking to cash in on their players yet, even though the risk is there that if they don’t do well this season some of these players will have their market value reduced but it is huge risk that if it pays off and they have another great season again it will position the club at a greater height.
The club have been able to maintain some of the key players that made last season a memorable one. They have also brought in a few players like Martin Terrier, Aleix García, and Jeanuël Belocian. Some talented academy players have also been promoted to the senior team. Xabi Alonso also made an uncommon decision to remain with the club even when he had better offers from some of the best clubs in the world. Everyone will be looking out for Bayer Leverkusen both in the Bundesliga and the Champion League because of their exploits last season. But I am not sure that they will be able to replicate last season's performance.

Dortmund are not going great on this preseason games but same is to other big clubs to in Europe, Manchester city haven’t own a single game this pre season and not much fuss about it. Although I wouldn’t say they are a complete team yet but if you ask me they have at players that are capable of playing well just that team isn’t yet coordinated to me. The only position I think they need to take a very good look at is the left back position which is left open due to the departure of loanee Ian Matsen, i was hoping they would retain the player but they didn’t and now they need a replacement for him. The center back options are ok for me, Schlotterback, Hummels and a very fit Sule will be great if they are injury free. They also need to look for a second defensive midfielder to reduce the pressure on Emre Can
Considering the goals Borussia Dortmund conceded in two games, I am afraid they might not be in a good position to compete for trophies this season. Yes, preseason shouldn't be used as a yardstick to predict how the season will play out. But a club that conceded seven goals playing with some lowly rated clubs, should work hard on its defense. If they have players who are injured, the transfer window is still open. They can buy some good players based on their budget. They shouldn't gamble with players because other teams are preparing heavily for this season's campaigns.
