It must be admitted that Leverkusen is still covered by luck, a fairly dramatic victory with a final score of 3-2. Signs of decline have not been seen from the squad coached by Xabi Alonso, his cool hand is still working very well, at least for the first week of the Bundesliga. Florian Wirtz confirmed that he is a player who can make a difference, and in my opinion his quality is in accordance with his current market value.
Agree. The match almost ended up with a draw result, luckily Wirtz could score in minute 90+11'. It was just 2 minutes before the end of the match. But Wirtz actually failed to score from penalty kick in minute 90+9'. He may regret it if he couldn't score a goal in minute 90+11'. However, Wirtz is the man of the match in this match. Undecided

I also don't see a decline in team performance of Leverkusen. They still dominated the match and made many attempts. But Xabi Alonso needs to make Leverkusen game be more effective. The shot accuracy of the players should be improved. So, they won't miss so many chances and can optimize every chance to be goals.

Leverkusen actually did not too dominate the course of the match, but the statistics of the number of shots they released were quite a lot.
Leverkusen won the ball possessions 58%, they made 25 shots (8 on target). How do you conclude that they didn't dominate the match? According to the stats, it is clear that Leverkusen really dominated the match.

It makes sense to say that Leverkusen still has the potential to be champions this season, but let's see how Bayern Munich, their main competitor, will play their match tomorrow.
Indeed. Leverkusen has a chance to win again Bundesliga trophy. However, it is to early to talk about this, we can't determine the chance from a single match. I think we need to see the results of the next few matches. Then, we can analyze which team to have better chance winning the trophy of Bundesliga this season.

Bayern Leverkusen may not be able to replicate their last season's record but what I saw in their match tonight shows they are a promising club with the potential of winning the league again this season. One thing too is that their luck of scoring late goals still follow them to this season because they almost drew the match from their 2 goals lead from first half if not of the Florian Wirtz who scored after missing the penalty kick at 90 minutes +11. This is pure luck else that match was a pure draw.

Monchengladbach kept pushing and pushing. It was unfortunate for them to allow those two first goals to go in. After they went a goal down, they shouldn't have allowed a second, they had a pretty good spell before they conceded that goal.
When Gladbach finally scored and VAR cancelled the goal, I knew it was going to be an even more interesting match because the whole momentum and fans were behind them. Too bad they didn't get a point from this game because they really deserved it. Part of what made Monchengladbach have a bad season last season was because they conceded too many goals in every match. They concede at least 2 goals in every match and they have started that way this season. Although they played well, considering their opponent, they shouldn't be conceding that amount of goals if they want to compete properly this season.

How do you see Leverkusen this season? Do you think they can become champions without losing a single game again? In the Bundesliga I mean.

They actually had a huge unbeaten streak which must be over 50 games.  Smiley  But it finished by Atalanta in the Europa League. Otherwise they could have carried the streak to even this season. Xabi Alonso has gathered all the attention on himself as a result. Personally I believe this season won't be the same. It is just too difficult to maintain such form for two-season long.  Sad  Plus, I would really like to see a title competition in the league this time.

Last season was incredible for Leverkusen, without a doubt it was something that will be in the club's history. But I doubt very much that what happened last season will be repeated, just look at that in Leverkusen's first game in the Bundesliga it was a game against a weak opponent, but on the field Leverkusen had a lot of difficulty to win the game, they conceded 2 goals and were very lucky to benefit from a penalty in the final minutes of the game, it was thanks to this penalty that they managed to score the third goal and win the game. Now imagine what will happen when Leverkusen plays against strong opponents? They will probably lose. Of course we need to see how Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig will also do when they play

Borussia Monchengladbach 2 - 3 Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Leverkusen won the game with great difficulty even though they were playing against a weak opponent.

I doubt Bayer Leverkusen could do the same record as the previous season. Even though they have most players in and the same coach but the other teams, mainly Bayern Munich, will not let them pass them the way they did in the previous season.
Xabi Alonso will try to prove himself again as a top coach and the first game will be against M'Gladbach which is lagging much and could not be understood.
I expect Bayer Leverkusen to win in few hours.

The positive unbeaten trend from last season has continued until this season, we also realize that it is not certain that this consistency will continue and last throughout the season, but the victory is worthy of praise.

Monchengladbach managed to turn things around in the second half, they managed to put up fierce resistance and almost managed to force Leverkusen to share points. Leverkusen actually did not too dominate the course of the match, but the statistics of the number of shots they released were quite a lot. But with this performance today, wining at the end of the game, I think they don’t have the squad depth to repeat it and they fail to sign new players thinking they have enough squad to win another Bundesliga forgetting that they have Champions League and other competitions to play.
Bayer Leverkusen need to win games in a more convincing manner this season, they do not need to continue to depend on last minute goals and the luck they have with scoring late goals because it will not always work and may fail them in a very important game. They won the game but to me it is not a good result because having a two goal advantage and then losing it almost to the extent of dropping the whole point completely, it is not a good start they were just lucky today, they will not be lucky another day and their luck may not be enough for them to defend their title this season if they do not improve.

The match has just started and only 15 minutes have been played in this match. Leverkusen has already been able to score in this match. And the way they are playing I think Leverkusen is going to win this match. I know it is probably a little too early to say that. But I am confident that the defending champions are going to get three points from this one. The first goal has been scored by Xhaka on the 12th minute. Interested to see if Boniface will be able to score in this match or not. He was in really good form in the last season. I hope he will be able to continue from where he left off in the last season.
The game ended in favor of Leverkusen winning by three goals  most of the goals came in around the second half and monchengladbach was able to secure two goals before the end of the game. Leverkusen appear like they are about to begin another season where they are goin to stay unbeaten because so far they have been doing so well, drew one and here they are win a win already. dominance in the game was mostly on the side of Leverkusen, they had more possession than their opponent and they did had very brilliant goals that they did scored, obviously xabi is in for another season of awesome and unstoppable success for the Bundesliga especially but i want to see what he's really getting in the champions league where he will encounter some bigger teams who are tougher

It is too early to judge their performance since we are just starting a fresh season, we don’t expect even the underrated teams to be so lose to be defeated easily by the big teams.

You are right for saying that it will be a bit hard for Alonso and his players to replicate their same performance of last season again this season; I don’t think they can do it because their pattern of playing has been monitored since towards the ending of last season, which is why they usually win or draw their matches towards the end of the game, but it’s normal that’s why we kept mute. But with this performance today, wining at the end of the game, I think they don’t have the squad depth to repeat it and they fail to sign new players thinking they have enough squad to win another Bundesliga forgetting that they have Champions League and other competitions to play.

We just need to see how far Xabi will continue to make Leverkusen a club that is difficult to contain because after all, the expectations for Leverkusen are still very high so this will make the pressure even more difficult than the pressure they received last season.

Leverkusen will still be the center of attention for this season because apart from their status as defending champions, Leverkusen also has a good record and record for them to maintain last season even though their unbeaten record was stopped by Atalanta but it cannot be denied that the Bundesliga record without losing for one season still needs our attention.  It is difficult to believe now that the record will be created again but on the other hand we must be aware that this might still happen if Xabi remains consistent with his performance.

It turns out again that Leverkusen, like last season, like to score after the 90th minute if they draw or are behind and my bet that I placed in injury time has paid off thanks to this behaviour. I bet on Leverkusen's next goal!

I'm pleased that nothing seems to have changed in this situation, because I will continue to bet on Leverkusen in this situation Grin

Winning a game in the 11th minute of added time is not just "after the 90th minute" it is something more outrageous, especially considering that it happens to them regularly.
I support Bayer and want them to become champions again, but to be honest, such results are starting to make me depressed - probably someone has already become a millionaire betting on Bayer after the 90th minute, and I am just watching  Grin

I think there is something behind the performance of Bayer Leverkusen that people are yet to understand, like how's the team able to come up with such momentum to always keep pushing to make sure they get the winning goal after 90 minutes plus? We saw them become champions last season with this winning after the 90 minutes strategies but no one believed that they will start the new season with this same energy because what I witnessed today still shows that Xabi Alonso and his boys aren't going to joke with the league this season because they look more ready than last season.

Some bettors would off course take the winning advantages of Bayer Leverkusen to win really big but today I took a big risk by placing a bet with the option of GG+2 in the Leverkusen game and I was lucky to see F. Wirtz scoring the last goal to keep my 4.25 single bet green.

Today last season's champions will start their Bundesliga campaign and I am sure it will be an easy first win for Xabi Alonso men. On paper Leverkusen chances are quite high and with their consistency, Bayern Munich should be a worthy competitor. It seems that the current Bundesliga season the situation will not change much considering that Bayern Munich with a new coach has not performed optimally even though in the pre-season they were able to win the match but because the opponents they faced were not evenly matched. Kompany in his first season was immediately faced with great demands from the Bayern Munich top brass and so far I don't think there has been a Bayern Munich coach who has been easy to get their soft attention.

Bayer Leverkusen has started trying their best to see if they can still have an unbeaten season again, but it seems like they will definitely have many challenges because having that record again will be very hard because there are a lot of changes in many teams, and they will feel it differently from last year. Although you also mentioned that Atalanta were the ones that broke that record of unbeaten same as this season, they will be a team that must challenge them just to see that they were not able to get that record again this season. Even though I know Xavi Alonso will try his best to see if that can still happen this season, it will hardly happen.

Another unbeaten streak by Bayern Leverkusen will be very hard this season because all the teams in the Bundesliga will be super ready for them and won’t allow the repetition of what happened last season to happen again. Bayern Leverkusen still has the chance to become champions of this season if they perform like they did last season or even put more effort than what they did last season. Bayern Munich is also a worthy contender and I don’t think they’re going to allow Bayern Leverkusen to win the trophy for the second term in succession. Bayern Munich will only have a chance to compete for the league title if the coach is very up and doing to make things work out for the team. Since he’s a new coach, we can’t tell much, but will see what he can do for the club to make them excel.
It seems that it is very difficult to maintain by Leverkusen because this season many other teams have increased their strength in the transfer market. I think with their fairly perfect pace last season it will be a strong enough spirit for Leverkusen players this season but recording consecutive wins might be quite impossible. But today Xabi Alonso was able to bring the first victory for Leverkusen where they were able to steal full points at Monchengladbach's home.

With very satisfying results in the early match, of course it is a good achievement because they remain consistent in being able to achieve their target this season. Well, if you look at Bayern Munich, of course they are still the favorite team this season because they will try hard to be able to compete with Leverkusen in every match.

Leverkusen hardly give up, and that spirit of winning, even at injury time, always helps them. In today's match, I had already given up, thinking they had drawn. In fact, I even stopped watching the match because I believed it was going to end in a draw. But surprisingly, when I checked my phone to look at my ticket, thinking that only Leverkusen had spoiled it since I picked them for a straight win, I was shocked to see that they had won the match. That was really crazy! It’s a new season, and Leverkusen is out there again to prove themselves. With what I saw tonight, I believe they still aim to achieve the Bundesliga title. Let's see how the other top strong teams match up.

Another interesting match. Many people were actually saying that Bayer Leverkusen would beat this Borussia Monchengladbach but the club stood their ground and did exceptionally well. They matched some stats that Bayer Leverkusen also produced and for me the positives from the match was that Borussia Monchengladbach if they can can continue like this then they will be better than last season.

As for Bayer Leverkusen they have already started the season with late minute wins, just like the scrapped this win I think they will find others too very hard. This season they wouldn’t get lucky to scrap out win like last season because some clubs would be more cautious during the last minute of the matches when they are winning against them. They can do that undefeated again this season

The good thing about the Bayer Leverkusen team is that they were able to retain most of the major players they had last season. This singular act would make the team retain its form. They have started showing that they will be one of the major Bundesliga title contenders by defeating VfB Stuttgart in the Supercup. Sadly they will be playing without one of their main strikers Victor Boniface after he was sanctioned for his misbehaviour after they won the game against Stuttgart. But they have a good replacement that will still cause havoc to any defence.

Borussia Mönchengladbach had a bad 2023/24 season which made them struggle to avoid relegation. In other to boost the performance of the club coach Gerardo Seoane Castro has signed players such as Tim Kleindienst, Kevin Stöger and Philipp Sander. Gladbach won their last game when they defeated Erzgebirge Aue in the DFB Cup first round by three goals to one. But the game against Bayer Leverkusen will be a true test for Die Fohlen.
That is not just the great thing, but also a very very shocking thing as well. Like I was 100% certain that some team would snatch Wirtz right away for example, they have so many great players that could fit so well with many rich teams and yet none of them really got transferred.

It's of course amazing for them but at the same time it's a huge risk as well, like let's take Wirtz for example, they could easily sell him for 100 million right now, but not selling him means that they will either use him for one more year and sell him for maybe even 100+ million, or at least make a lot of money while he is there, like win the league again and do well at UCL etc etc, and then if they still sell for same price, they still made more thanks to him staying one more year. OR the big risk is that he would get injured, or play badly and so forth which would result with them not having the good result and Wirtz being valued a lot less, that's the risk they are taking.

The match between Leverkusen and Monchengladbach turned out to be interesting one. Leverkusen scored on 12th and 38th minute but M'gladbach was dominant on the first half. Tim Kleindienst did scored a goal at 42nd minute but it was overturned as foul by VAR. M'gladbach did returned goals in 2nd half in 59th and 85th minute to make it a score of 2-2 but Florian Writz scored again for Leverkusen at Last minute of added injury time to secure 3 points for the team.

Leverkusen still has a good player and from my point of view I still think that Leverkusen will be a problem for Bayern Munich this season, Munich has good players than Leverkusen but the winning mentality is with Leverkusen, they play their first game of the season and they are about to lose the game and before the end of the game they score a goal to make sure they end up playing a penalty kick, Leverkusen is going to be another problem for Bayern Munich this season and stop Bayern Munich for winning the tittle league again.

Xavi Alonso is going to do everything to make sure that the team performs well again, I didn't say that Bayern Munich will not win the league title this season but Leverkusen is going to be a problem for Bayern Munich, Bayern Munich needs to know how to handle Leverkusen this season or else they will end up without nothing this season like the way they did last season.

Yeah Leverkusen still use the same squad this season so they should still be able to compete with Bayern Munich and Dortmund but in the first match today they almost made a mistake when Leverkusen had already won by 2 goals in the first half but in the second half they conceded 2 goals so the score was 2-2 until the 90th minute, fortunately Florian Wirtz was able to score the 3rd goal for Leverkusen in the last seconds so Leverkusen can lock 3 points.

But today's match was indeed quite fierce we can see it based on the statistics of both teams, Monchengladbach had 14 shots and 7 of them were on target while Leverkusen had 25 shots and 10 on target this indicates that both teams are playing aggressively so it is not surprising that the total scored 5 goals. By the way a good start for Leverkusen and they have to continue it.

I personally think it is going to be very hard for them to keep a lossless streak. Because in the last season I think even though they were playing well, they actually got the benefit of being taken not very seriously by a lot of teams. And I think we all know that no team is going to make that mistake again. Every team is going to be very ready when playing against Leverkusen. And of course, Bayern Munich is going to be extra careful against Leverkusen. And this time Leverkusen is going to get the respect that they deserve because they are the defending champions of the Bundesliga. I am not going to be surprised if Leverkusen actually loses in the first seven or eight matches, to be honest.
