Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
@bill gator
Sorry mate, I misinterpreted what you were saying the first time around but now it is all good.
And you are right, moving them to off topic is basically shutting them down as the users there have no use of it.
It doesn't seem fair that I would be allowed to have my topic here if others, like yourself weren't. I would gladly take it up with the Cyrus or theymos and move my thread wherever they see fit. I will PM both of them and see what they have to say.

I think this applies:
I agree with this approach.
(click it to read the context)

But indeed, until bill gator mentioned it, I forgot those were moved to Off-topic.
LoyceV I read the whole first page trying to figure out what theymos is agreeing with but it seems to be related to merits and members who didnt get the deserved rank when the system was implemented.

He also says:
...I also agree with the idea of (free) "reviewer" topics in general, for finding high-quality posts that went unnoticed. Barcode_ created one in the Chinese section, as well.

But no mention about where these topics are allowed and where not, unless that is somewhere else on the other pages.

I have read the forum rules and have not found any rule/rules that mention that these type of threads are not allowed. If a decision was made later on to make them illegal I am sorry but I am not aware of such a rule.

I am not trying to accuse you of anything. I just remember there being a very large fiasco relating to these type of threads. QuestionAuthority, myself and many others had our threads shut-down by moving them to off-topic. Our threads resemble yours, and so I am wondering if the rules had changed or specifically why this thread is allowed when others were not. Obviously the last question isn't one you can answer, but it is something I am curious about.

You are asking me if I knew these threads are illegal but I intentionally created one? Why would I do that, how would creating a thread that could be against the rules benefit me? No, like I said above I am not aware of such a rule.

No, I must have worded that incorrectly. I was asking if you knew of these "rules" and then understood them with more nuance than I do. Resulting in a thread that follows the guidelines and is acceptable.

Then, seperately I asked if, now that you are aware of these "rules/guidelines" if you see any differences between the threads that have been moved and yours. I never meant to imply that you skirted the rules purposefully.

Two very trustworthy and respectable members, LoyceV and suchmoon have similar threads, one in the Off-topic > https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/yes-its-clickbait-i-didnt-say-youre-getting-free-merits-did-i-5031461 and one in Trading Discussion > https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/self-moderated-report-unmerited-good-posts-to-merit-source-5093271 (created yesterday).

Yeah, there are many other members with similar threads, me included. My trouble is that they weren't allowed anywhere except off-topic. The thread created yesterday, I have the same questions about, but haven't looked into it yet.

suchmoon's thread has been active since September and I see now that it is posted in the Off-topic, so if the problem is in the location of the thread I would have no problem moving it. I posted it here since its meant for Newbies ONLY and this is the board they frequent most.

Also, this is in no way a merit giveaway of any sort. I have rejected more members than I have merited

All of that applied to my thread as well. 95% of posts were "rejected", it was not a giveaway and it was specifically aimed at showcasing newbies that were acting in a way that deserved merit.

I'm asking these questions not the demonize you, but because I enjoyed maintaining my thread and it's heartbreaking to see others doing as I would like to do without the same rules as me.

I just want a refresher on the status of this sort of thread. If they're acceptable, then I want to restart mine.

I created my thread in Reputation after it was (once again) mentioned in a Meta topic. If a Mod moves it that's fine with me, I didn't consider Off-topic because I barely go there. I do expect a totally different audience there though, with much more spam, so I prefer not to move it.

This is what killed my thread. The audience found in off-topic are not looking for any serious improvement, criticism, reflection, etc.

I'm wondering if you made this thread knowing that those type of threads have been ruled against, or if this was just an idea that popped into your head.

They've all been moved off-topic, because the staff decided these kind of threads do not belong.

I can't help but feel like this thread is almost an exact replica of those Merit-Review threads that have been outlawed around here. I'm wondering if you made this thread knowing that those type of threads have been ruled against, or if this was just an idea that popped into your head. Now that I've brought this up though, I'm curious where the differences lie. What is the difference between this thread and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3158387.0? Too many people seem to think that starting one of these threads is going to be helpful, even though it's against the rules now.

@steve57
Your first post is a question. You are asking the community for help and advice about crypto.
Sorry but I didn't find anything in your posts worth meriting.
Nice try steve! You already applied in my thread, then deleted your post, wrote a new thread on Dec 19th and now you are applying again.
Not only that, I managed to find a plagiarised post as well that I didn't see the first time.

The development and expansion of Blockchain technology has triggered new opportunities in the betting on the sports industry. Together with a skilled team of specialists in the sports and business there is good opportunity to invest and  bet to  earn profits and make money

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
Thanks to Stedsm and suchmoon the available sMerits for Newbies are now 17!

...I would suggest you to please make a table in OP and give details about the user/s you merited as well as which post did you merit. It'll help other newbies to check those guys' posts and learn the way how it is earned.
Another member also suggested making a table so I will make something in the first post, you are right it might be beneficial for Newbies to see what was merited.

Thanks for the suggestion and the support!

You're doing a great work, man!
As I've been busy myself posting here and trying to help out people, I give you the privilege of choosing 15 more newbies and helping them out turn into Jr. Member, which is why I've merited OP with 15 merits. Please do your best and choose wisely, as well I would suggest you to please make a table in OP and give details about the user/s you merited as well as which post did you merit. It'll help other newbies to check those guys' posts and learn the way how it is earned. Glad to see everyone's trying to help, but regrets for newbies who don't even check for such opportunities and just pop up with a thread begging about merits and/or their rank being negotiated down to newbie level.

I merited you for this one. Although there are quite a few grammatical errors I find the post useful, especially for bounty hunters who are looking to get paid in ETH or a similar more reliable token. But I see that you haven't updated the post for quite some time. Are you still keeping an eye on it and looking for similar projects that dont pay in their native token?

i stopped updating since the huge Fall of market! there weren't many Bounties paying in any Listed currencies either! but of course i did missed to update Probit exchange bounty where they allocated 150K USDT but i thought it will be too competitive and Hunters will end up getting little rewards! but i did got 15USDT for a few twitter task (which was really unexpected)!

I'll soon rewrite the whole Thread with better design! Thank yo so much for the Merit.
And apologies for the grammatical and spelling errors as i'm not really a native speaker! but in last few months i did some works on my English and wrote a few articles for a few projects as well! i promise better quality!

Thank you Once again! and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
