Rand Paul Has J.C. Watts in His Corner

http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/04/03/rand-paul-has-j-c-watts-in-his-corner/

When Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky kicks off his campaign for president on Tuesday, one of the people who will endorse him and share the stage is former Representative J.C. Watts, one of the few black Republicans to have served in Congress.

Mr. Watts is expected to be a vocal surrogate for Mr. Paul, who has made clear he is trying to show he can broaden the Republican Party’s base to newer voters.

“Senator Paul has shown what I have always believed, a leader can be a strong economic and social conservative and yet be concerned about the least of these,” Mr. Watts, who retired from Congress in January 2003, said in a statement.

Mr. Watts, a college quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners before serving in the House from that state, has lamented before that Mr. Paul is one of the few members of the Republican Party trying to reach out to voters who have traditionally not been part of the base.

Ready for Hillary?  J. C. Watts is ready to block and tackle that lying old plutocrat!   Cool

Why Rand Paul stands out

(CNN)Sen. Rand Paul, who is expected to announce on April 7 that he will be running for the presidency, is garnering a great deal of attention as he travels around the country promoting his brand of libertarian conservatism.

The Kentucky senator's widely publicized appearance this month at the South by Southwest festival at Austin, Texas, was one opportunity he used to appeal to a tech-savvy audience. His particular blend of ideas -- a combination of libertarianism and Republican conservatism -- stands out from the rest of the pack. Younger Republicans, the much-desired millennial vote, seem attracted by what they are hearing.

What accounts for his appeal? In an era when so many Americans seem frustrated with shallow, personality-based politics, there seems to be genuine interest in a candidate who is fighting for a set of ideas. For many disaffected younger Republicans, Paul offers a version of the conservative agenda that seems foreign to the modern GOP.

For almost half a century, "big government conservatism" has ruled the party. Although conservatism is theoretically about limited government, the historical reality has been much different. On national defense, the hawks of the GOP have been victorious. ..

Rand Paul finds way to champion Iowa ethanol

It looks like presidential hopeful Rand Paul has found a clever way to champion ethanol, with an issue that's in harmony with his keep-government-out-of-the-marketplace mentality.

Paul, a Republican U.S. senator from Kentucky, has teamed up with Iowa's popular U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, to introduce the Fuel Choice and Deregulation Act.

Ethanol industry backers say the bill would grant relief from a regulatory quirk that's thwarting free market sales of E15, fuel that's 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.

CBS Poll: Rand moving up as a voting possibility among GOP voters

Quote
Texas Senator Ted Cruz has undergone the biggest change since last month (interviews were being conducted for the poll when he announced his candidacy): 37 percent of Republicans would now consider voting for him, last month only 23 percent said so. Senator Rand Paul has gained 9 points since last month; now, 39 percent would consider voting for him, up from 30 percent in February.

Just wait til Rand gets his announcement bump next week. We all need to "rally round the family" and never let down, folks. Bitcoin=Liberty=Thriving=Rand Paul. Time to get serious my legions! All the details of the poll...http://www.cbsnews.com/news/poll-who-would-americans-consider-voting-for-in-2016/

When it gets farther along and Rand is climbing in the polls then you will see the MSM lapdogs attack him and they will pull out all stops to discredit him. They want that lying bitch Billary in the White House. After what she did with her email server she should be in prison.
No doubt about it on the media tip. I'm sure his team will develop strategy for this and so far, they've been able to lay traps for other candidates to Rand's benefit in the aftermath. He's got some of the best people in the business working for him and these heavyweights cast large shadows. But let's face it, all of the candidates get scrutinized. I'm more optimistic in Rand as a candidate than his dad, all things considered. Ron was the professor that taught a growing classroom in this nation and now most of them have 'graduated' over the last 4-8 years while the nation and the GOP has been through certain transitions as well. Rand is trying to appeal to all which isn't easy to do and that will be his biggest hurdle. Appealing to establishment republicans and keeping your base fully intact is no small feat since libertarians are very fickle and always looking over their shoulders. For as smart as many of them think they are, they are poor at strategizing since not adhering totally to a certain lingo gets the sellout talk.

Rand Paul: Democrats Taking African-American Vote ‘For Granted’

In a video clip you won’t see anywhere else, Sen. Rand Paul tells a group of pastors that the Democrat Party is taking African-American voters for granted.

“There’s an eagerness for someone to meet with them,” Paul, R-Ky., said. “The Democrats have completely taken this whole body of voters for granted.”

When talking about a recent trip to the scene of riots in Ferguson, Mo., Paul says many African-Americans told him how, “They hadn’t seen their Democrat congressman in six years.”

And Paul has a message for the GOP regarding how to get people off welfare.

“If we’re the party that doesn’t want everyone to be on welfare forever, let’s be the party that lets you expunge your records so you can get a job again,” Paul said. “It’s hard to get a job if you have a criminal record but many of these are youthful offense, that it wasn’t a violent crime committed. We can reintegrate these people back in.”

http://dailysignal.com/2015/03/30/rand-paul-democrats-taking-african-american-vote-for-granted/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=tdsfacebook

Historically, the GOP has been the abolitionist party and the democrats have been the party of the slave owners, tho granted those were different times. But for all intents and purposes, these points are relevant now to flip the script on the dem ignorers/users of the black population by and large. Only Rand is seeking to and making an effort at making the downtrodden's lives easier and more hopeful. If you don't know how much effort he's exerted to helping inner city folks, then do your homework.
Its good to see Rand Paul taking this position and saying these words about how the Democrats are indeed taking it for granted. That was a very smart statement. If the GOP can get the attention of younger people, and minorities, they will guaranteed win the election, and probably much more for years to come.

Christie's unfavorable score is hilarious, he doesn't seem to have a realistic chance.
Cruz is doing much better than I would have expected.
Yeah, it's the standard post-announcement bump that all of them will get but this one will pale in comparison to Rand's next week especially if we all do our respective parts, whether donating, online postings in support, checking media bias in comment sections and whatever other respectable things one can think of. If you're from outside the country and think this is something that will affect your life and those around you, consider defending Rand in comment sections in different media outlets but just post positives in support and leave the "next of kin" candidates alone as the viewers and/or supporters of them will eventually flock to Rand as the long haul goes on vs. Bush/Rubio. We want Rand to be the immediate 2nd choice of the Walker, Cruz, any other perceived conservative that republican party base voters would consider. This is why lower unfavorables are so important.

Stand With Rand #LibertyKaraoke in a city near you (04.07.15)

These events are happening in most states all over the country and aren't officially part of the campaign but are fun fundraising social events that do coincide w/ the launch of the campaign. Each one has it's own facebook event page and you can find out the whens and where - http://www.eventbrite.com/e/stand-with-rand-libertykaraoke-april-7-tickets-16360513737. So, if you're nearby one of these events, get out and mingle/network with liberty minded people - those who are instantly more interested in alternative money than your average person. Kill two birds with one stone while adding momentum to Rand's GOP Nomination seeking announcement day. You could also just get rekt and sing songs and embarrass yourself too. Cheesy

Just a little background, these events have been thrown in the past near Washington DC to raise money for Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Justin Amash (R-MI), both libertarian-republicans Congressman and these typically trend towards the younger/middle aged crowd on average but this of course doesn't stop anyone who wants to from attending. All are welcome esp for Rand's events.

Rand Paul opposes GOP budget, says it’s ‘irresponsible’ to add to debt

Sen. Rand Paul used last week’s battle over the federal budget to reinforce his image as the top fiscal hawk in the 2016 presidential field, calling out his colleagues for demanding more military spending without showing how they would pay for it.

Mr. Paul closed out the Senate “vote-a-rama” by giving a thumbs down to the GOP budget, hours after he opened up his day on the Senate floor by ripping apart Sen. Marco Rubio’s push to beef up the defense budget.

“It is irresponsible and dangerous to continue to put America further into debt, even for something we need,” Mr. Paul said on the Senate floor. “We need national defense, but we should pay for it.”

I think Rand is trying to do legions better than dad in SC and this is the start of it. He's doing it right at carrier and feeding to the militarists down there so this seems worthwhile atm. I'm not sayin he can win but competing is a big deal.

Rand Paul and the Koch Brothers Are Having a Nixon-in-China Moment

...
In the last few months, that narrative has shifted. The Republicans who control Congress and most of the states are taking a larger role in the reform push. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who has co-sponsored a series of reform bills, is giving talks to black audiences that draw scores of reporters.

More than the possibly pernicious influence of the Koch brothers, some Democrats worry that their thunder is being stolen. “One of the great ironies for me, having spent all this time on criminal justice reform, is how the Democrats have basically ceded this incredibly important issue to the Republicans,” former Virginia Senator Jim Webb told Vox’s Ezra Klein this month. “Rand Paul's the guy who's been running with it.”
