I'm finding that I'm quite content with just getting my CPU rewards. I was mining at 800-850 KH/s and getting 0 to 3 blocks a day before, but that also rendered my computer (my primary machine) basically unusable. Now I'm still getting a decent numbers of coins, my BOINC rate is the same, and I can still use the machine Smiley

Plus I got that horrid AMD card out of my computer and put my nvidia GTX 650 Ti Boost back in it. It might be an older card with less power, but it outperformed the R9 290 for me. Likely due to AMDs terrible drivers.

If you dont need the 290...I would like to check out how it is to mine with such a beast as I'm only on CPU since the diff is > 0.8 Wink

To your first question: If you want to use the GPU to mine GRC it is like any other crypto coin. Just setup the miner and ready to go. It is not mandatory to use the GPU for BOINC. Soon the scrypt sleep option (upper left of your screeenshot) will be enabled and your GPU will sleep depending on your position based on your BOINC credits. During the mining sleep your GPU can do BOINC tasks to increase your position and decrease sleep time. So only BOINC and/or the miner will use your GPU depending on your settings, the wallet itself is more or less the control center.

For now a i7 crunching BOINC tasks should provide enough power to reach 1000 average credits/the 150 GRC per Block. As already said the pie chart shows a percentage summarized of your current power for BOINC (50%) and your average power for boinc (50%), only if both parts are 100% the pie chart shows 100% and you can receive the full reward. Your average will grow over the next days and the pie chart will reflect that. If you temporarliy let the GPU do BOINC crunching your credits will increase much faster if you have GPU enabled projects in your list.

Thanks man, much appreciated Smiley The info on the website is a bit confusing, but your explanation makes perfect sense.

I think I'll leave Boinc on CPU for now and see if that's sufficient after a few days.

I'm trying to set up Gridcoin solo mining, but I'm getting a bit confused by the terminology. I want to GPU mine, to get the maximum reward per block possible - but does GPU mining just mean that the wallet and cgminer will use GPU mining, or that Boinc has to use the GPU too?

Or is it enough for Boinc to only use the CPU? Otherwise, it seems that three things are using the GPU... cgminer, the wallet and Boinc?

I'm not sure it's working correctly, because:

  • "Boinc Processing Power" is showing as only 50
  • "Boinc KH/ps" is showing as 0 (is this for Boinc CPU processing or GPU processing or both?)
  • "Boinc Utilization Low"

Are these things expected for GPU mining? Thanks a lot in advance Smiley

Boinc avg daily credits will give you 50% more processing power. Right now it's 0 so if you find a block you will be rewarded 75 grc. After a day or so you will get some value for the avg credits and if it's >1000 then you will have processing power of 100 and will be rewarded full 150grc for each found block. Calculate boinc with CPU yes that's the way to do it. After scrypt sleep comes then you will be able to use your GPU for boinc too when your hashing power is sleeping.

Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate it.

If I use only CPU with Boinc, is that likely to provide enough credits to get the full processing power of 100 (running at about 80% average on an i7 CPU)?

Or will it be not enough, and will I gain more reward using GPU with Boinc (e.g. seti@home) to increase the processing power than I will lose from my mining speed (I get 1.05MH/s with Boinc GPU, and 1.30MH/s without Boinc GPU)?

Can anybody get hold of Rob ? Please ask him to get in touch with the C-Cex dev, problems with the compiling process.

On skype preferrably - C-CEX.com is the name

I'm trying to mine in the new pool with GUI miner - do we have a port setting that I can put in for the pool URL?

I got ahold of support @ c-cex about an hour ago, and I believe they rebuilt the wallet.  Has anyone traded recently?

Sync issues are slowly going away...

Sync problems are due to people not upgrading.
This is a hard fork

so, all we can do is wait?
Yes, we are permanently on this version now; we need to get the cpuminers to upgrade.  They are rejecting forwarded blocks.

I'm trying to get ahold of the exchange now.

ok, thx man!

Can someone please notify CCEX that I uploaded the Linux source for gridcoind just now?  If they have any problems building tell them to contact me at [email protected]
