I just message the dev of http://CryptOTC.us to add Gridcoin and he did. The site is still in beta so everyone can go ahead and give it a shot and see how it works.

Do you know who the dev is?  These exchanges pop up and disappear with peoples money all the time.  I'd wait for either bter or cryptsy or possible coins-e.

Do not satisfy with the current diff

Yes, Lmue is right. We need to make more people like Gridcoin and use Gridcoin.

Great, hope this website is strong enough.

Also you can find cgminer configuration for X290 here: https://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

Yay! I got my 290X Cheesy

So to make the shift over from nVidia to AMD, what's the AMD process for the Gridcoin client. Does it have the cgminer built in? I've got the client up and  running in the machine with the new card but don't see any activity card wise.

Also, in addition to that guide, if you are familiar with setting up cgminer for scrypt, the new preferred method for mining grc is to go to  Mining | Mining Configuration and fill out the form completely (no blanks) then click save, then Create Cgminer instance, and OK, then try using the in client cgminer api.  You can probably find the 290x in the consolidated guide to litecoin mining (ie for the settings).

Good luck!

I would say we are pretty active. Maybe we are not like dogecoin, LOL. I think most of the people in crypto community are only interested in short term gain. It is all greed and pump and dump. Very few people look for anything long term. Most of our society is structured for "I want mine now" immediate satisfaction. There is very little patience these days. Even despite all that, we are still growing @ a pretty steady pace.

If you look at what happens with most of the alt coins on the exchanges, most of them have down sloping graphs with the exception of Bitcoin and Litecoin. why? Because everyone is mining and dumping, no one really believes in the long term use or value of these coins.  Initially a coin may have lots of hype, but over the long term they are all going in the toilet.

why isn't GRC more popular that Earthcoin>?

because it doesn't have enought "marketing"...for example there wasn't any giveaway...
Yeap. We have great coin with small and inactive community. Sad but true.
It's more looks like for me "Shhh! Don't tell anyone! Let us mine at ~2 diff as long as we can." And while it's so quiet around GRC, no processor time coming to BOINC. I can be wrong about this.
That news about 700 MHash/s rig disturbing me too. Single guy, or couple, with powerful rigs will donate to BOINC not much points but will generate hundreds of thousands of GRC. I'd prefer 1000 guys with single 290X, for example, which will donate much more to BOINC. That's why our community must spread info about GRC more active. IMHO

who said they are donating not much boinc points. i know this guy has 155 E3 cpus donating to boinc, although with the purpose of earning XRP.

what i try to do is letting everybody know the true value behind GRC. I hope more and more people will join GRC. I have introduced more than tens of people into GRC already.

Please everybody try to spread GRC as much as possible. Do not satisfy with the current diff, otherwise it will finally kill GRC.

I figured out how to use the internal cgminer now Smiley Yay. No more having to use cudaminer and having it choke on me.

Now I just need to find the optimum config for the card within the client.

Very nice instructions on how to mine gridcoins in this pdf file:

come on, they have hundreds of rigs, mining LTC and Doge for a long time and have earned quite a lot. It is scrypt for sure.

When he says 700 mhas, I assume that is for Bitcoin sha alog, not scrypt.

150mh/s ?? Where is this coming from?

it seems some miners with more than 150M hast rates want to join GRC. check the hash rate tomorrow.

just start mining now, otherwise, it will be too late.

yes, I am sure. some big LTC miners have 700M hash rates. That is quite normal.

on the other hand, if they join with full power, it will destroy GRC. I try to persuade them not to use full power at the moment. Otherwise, I won't be able to mine anything as well.

I persuaded them that, now they are using only less than 10M hash rate. they do not want to destroy GRC.

It would not "destroy" Gridcoin even if 10gh suddenly jumped on.  The difficulty algo is responsive enough to adjust upwardly to compensate and back down if they left.  Hopefully they would be able to get the proper amount of BOINC utilization on each rig to maximize their mining.  Any size hash rate would be welcomed since it would strengthen the network and increase beneficial research.

I know them in Ripple forum and they were running boinc anyway even without GRC.

I show one of them start mining step by step on one rig, and I see the boinc utilitzation is nearly 100 when they the first time mining GRC.

If one big miner with 700M just jump in, no others can mine anymore somehow. Majority of people will lose interest in GRC I am afraid.

If he has that many rigs, I'm sure he is using Linux on them as windows is limited to 4 GPU's per computer. I don't think he can mine this coin as you can't mine with Linux yet.

he has 155 rigs with E3 CPU and different GPUs with windows installed. He is a computer seller he said it is very common that several people he knows have more than 700 M hash rates (his friends and colleagues).

Ok that's odd for him to do that. I know if I was making a farm, I would be using 8 GPU's per motherboard and installing Linux.

I would also make them local servers so I can control them all with 1 computer.

Just make sure he joins our WCG team. Smiley

Imue,

Is this a pool that wants to hit GRC with 700mh/s or one person?
Do they realize they have to mine with the loopback and run boinc?
I believe they would need 70 rigs to successfully mine GRC and disrupt our community.

Grid

sure, they have more than 100 rigs to do that. I just showed a guy how to mine GRC. He has 155 rigs with E3 CPU and has a total hash rate of 150M.

I think he just started only on 1 rig and will add more tomorrow up to 10M.

since they are running wcg earning XRP before mining GRC. So they do not have any problem for the boinc credits. I saw the boinc utilization is nearly 100 when the first time mining GRC.

BTW, my username is lmue (LMUE), not Imue. thanks:)

I am afraid they want to earn XRP. They were running boinc for earning XRP and GPU for mining LTC.
